Where should I start?A: Do the exercises in either "Keys to Drawing" by Bert Dodson or "Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain" by Betty Edwards. Additionally, you can try the first few lessons of https://drawabox.com/ for building up muscle memory
Evidently, I shouldn't try to break a long spell of inactivity by trad doodling without reference and trying something of a novel pose featuring a facial angle I'm not all that well-practiced with. She ended up looking rather pissed, but I dunno, I kinda like the expression actually, not at all what I was originally going for (some sort of coy, coquettish look) but it fits the pose oddly well.
>>85450933>I saw a design I liked so I’m yoinking what I liked of it, but a long way to go. Would that happen to be the guy that draws monkeys? >>85489597Fantastic work anon. The expression, the weight of the tits, the tummy, the way you illustrated the fur... Just beautiful stuff, I think I'm in love. Saved
Is int level after a year of progress achievable?
Didn’t feel like using the fancy paper today.Took some liberties with the forearm things and the “wings”, but I don’t hate those decisions. Good lord, the human back is a travesty.Tried to keep the subtleties of the posture right.Any observations?
>>85498533In theory, if you dedicate every waking moment to it and study very efficiently, ideally under a mentor who can steer you in the right directions as you go. More realistically, you could do it in two, three years with a less gruelling daily study schedule (i.e. 8 instead of 16 hours) and some proper time off every now and again. How quickly you learn in general will make your mileage vary quite a bit as well, of course.
>>85500179>Good lord, the human back is a travesty.yeah, struggling with that right now too. Looks like you got it down right though
doodling slop again like the /beg/ sucker I amhttps://files.catbox.moe/92c98r.pnghttps://files.catbox.moe/jx2hmm.pnghttps://files.catbox.moe/psqxng.pnghttps://files.catbox.moe/4luodc.pnghttps://files.catbox.moe/9b01cm.pnghttps://files.catbox.moe/1thnsr.pnghttps://files.catbox.moe/2fge3u.png

Work sucks I have no time to draw my comfort zone /beg/ scrimblos
>>85503588become unemployed so you have more time to draw
>>85503588I was doing something like this too.I do like my big-armed monster waifu scrimblos.
I finally got over pre-self-cringe at drawing anything close to serious after 15 years of being a furfag and for once, spinning colored 3d cocks in my mind's eye are useful

>>85509219i thought you already were hired? i swear i remember you mentioning how you were slacking off from drawing what your boss wanted
>>85501162>>85500179Advice for the human back, start with the biggest muscles first. And think of it like a big "shield" shape
>>85509807it was just character design briefly, but that ended so I'm back to taking classes and waiting for the next job
>>85508052opinions on my mind's cocks?
>>85511154i mean, they're penises.
>>85511187but are they penises with potential?
>>85511194Do you think they have potential? That is what truly matters.
>>85511154
>>85511211I have a lot of self-hatred but I think those are some surprisingly good cocks considering I have never drawn a sphereI did do a lot of technical drawing though so I can decently eye-copy
Oh boy new thread
>>85511358Draw those hands.
>>85511154>opinions on my mind's cocks?I think plenty room for improvement. I think you could improve a lot by being extra mindful of your viewing distance of the canvas at all times so you can keep track of all the subtle changes in form and proportion, both large and small. You probably already have a decent subconscious idea of what kind of dicks you find most aesthetic, so as long as you can keep track of what's being drawn at the right viewing resolution for constant and thorough comprehension, you should be able to figure the things out on the canvas as you work on the drawing. I recommend constantly asking "what's the best viewing resolution for THIS part of the object I'm drawing right now?" and adjusting your neck/back/head posture until you find the best viewing distance, and you keep doing that until it becomes an automatic habit and you look like a woodpecker pecking in extreme slow motion.Once you master it, it should save you 10,000 of useless and frustrating practice and "visual library building", when you can just figure things out on the go about anything.
>>85511403I tried, but after spending like 15 minutes I decided I didnt want to make myself angry and moved on to do stuff that was working for the night. Hands just werent in the cards tonight.
>>85511508thanks for the advice man, nice shapesit's day 1 of ever drawing, so I'll take plenty of room as good
>>85511508I just realized you traced over my stuff, I had my light shining at my monitorfor my intended style those might be a bit too streamlined, the shapes look somewhat less intimidating?
>>85511574If you ever feel like stuck or inadequate, it's always because you either think too much or too little. Usually it's the former with most people trying to become better artists.>>85511637See? I told you that you already might have an idea somewhere in there, go chase it. Go and pivot. Achieve your version of the vision. Your preference. It's likely not going to come out with the first series of pen swings, but with enough digging and plethora of (re)consideration as you draw, you can realize it. That's the essence of sketching (or editing or redrawing parts of the drawing).
my special talent being "things make more sense when I'm animating them" ss both a blessing and a curse. A blessing because it's fun to have something that comes naturally to me and that I enjoy doing, but a curse in that everything I make take so much time that I can't keep up with artists using their art to interact with threads and becoming recognizable facesanyway been working on an animation for about 2 or 3 weeks now, doing good progress but jesus shadowing is such a pain in the fucking ass
>>85509219>What is the point of doing this Im never gonna be hired to work on cartoonsNever say never, but the foreseeable future of the animation industry as we know it now ain't looking too rosy indeed. Fortunately, that's due to the industry having been severely mismanaged, not because of audiences losing interest in good animation, so it's fertile ground for independent production houses to sink their roots deep and perhaps even usurp the giants of old. It'll be a chaotic time of uncertainty and innovation, but high risk comes with high reward and mark my words, many of the things produced in the coming years will be remembered as timeless classics and textbook examples for generations to come.So don't lose heart, keep at it and either set up your own little production operation (lewd games are a potential first product to consider, seeing as VNs [or maybe a point-and-click adventure for something a bit more complex] don't require a great deal of coding knowledge but do require art assets and having said assets be extensively animated would make you stand out from the competition, but then you've got to worry about the overhanging Sword of Damocles that are the payment processors and credit card companies and their current anti-porn debanking crusade) or hone your skills for when up-and-coming animation houses start headhunting for fresh creative talent.
>>85511314>I did do a lot of technical drawing though so I can decently eye-copyThat's a good position to start from, and you look to have a lot of the basic manual kinks (line confidence, detail hierarchy) many beginners suffer from all sorted out, meaning you can focus on understanding fundamentals like geometry, perspective and proportions. I'll throw you the usual crash course recommendation of Jack Hamm's Drawing the Head and Figure; it'll introduce you to most of the important stuff, and from there, you can identify where you should delve deeper next:https://ia800600.us.archive.org/13/items/drawing-the-head-and-figure-by-jack-hamm/Drawing-the-Head-and-Figure-by-Jack-Hamm.pdf
