Ehhh, I'll agree to disagree there. If a game is completely awful to play, whether it's due to dev greed or the gameplay itself sucking, then even idling and ERPing won't save it. What happened to PSO2 is a good example; that game had full-blown sex mods, and its player base is borderline nonexistent these days.

I've had some very hot moments in "bad" games before, but they're never something you'd stick with for more than a couple of sessions. IMO the best games are the ones where there is a reasonable amount of downtime between gear tiers and content updates, so that everyone has time to relax and take care of each other before getting back to the grind. Even if XIV is a game I personally dislike, it's still one of the biggest games for lewd play because of that core loop.

I've never heard of any of the things people say about it actually leading to anything bad happening. But if you're actually worried, you don't need to run the launcher for anything other than updating the client, once it's up to date you can close the launcher and never use it again (until the next update, which are pretty rare). In fact the preferred and recommended way to run the game is through vanillafixes.exe which injects a bunch of dlls (nampower, superwow, etc.) into the game to make it more playable on modern systems. There's a pre-packaged archive of fixes/tweaks on the 'cord so you don't need to do anything other than drag and drop once you've installed the game.

I can't blame you. Daggerfall is already very foreign to most people because of how ancient it is. If you don't get filtered by the game's appearance, then you're going to get filtered by missing all of your attacks because your level is too low, and if that doesn't filter you, then all the janky quests will where you have to actually talk to people to find out where your quest targets live/are, ask for directions, or that you have to rest, or that you're going to fail half of your quests because they just stop progressing if you miss a hint or can't find that quest item buried deep in a 5 hour long dungeon behind a hidden door. Or how the fucking time works, because some mechanics are progressed in realtime while others are not. And if all that doesn't filter you because you're a veteran of the game then you're in a for a surprise because they have raped daggerfall so hard to the point where an elder scrolls boomer would get sick to their stomach. It's so fucking bizarre that this exists, especially because it even comes with stupid mods like having morrowind models, but im glad the anon posted the link for this or otherwise I would have missed it

I think there's areas were wereboars are active and you just tank a ton of hits until you get it. I randomly got turned into a werewolf against my will because I kept getting ambushed by them and it's quite annoying how every now and then you have to kill npcs to restore your max health, especially when it's night so there won't be npcs outside.

I thought the graphics were interesting, really. I made a healer and got dropped in some dungeon. I couldn't figure out how to properly cast my spells, since apparently you can't put them on the little four tile rhombus thing. I somehow cast some, but I'm not sure if they did anything. Then I realized that I don't know how to cover my MP or HP. I tried hitting a bat with my staff, since I managed to pull that out, but I couldn't figure out how to do the hitting. At that point I was nearly dead and stopped.

Yeah that's going to suck. I _think_ oblivion-style leveling lets you pick skills that would otherwise brick your leveling ability, so your class only matters for like the first 1-4 hours. Race doesn't matter that much yet, but you do absolutely want Increased Magery 3x from the advantages.

It's the tutorial dungeon. You will get lost in it. The (M)ap makes it a lot easier though.

Backspace is your spellbook. You have to ready them from that, then you can use Q to spam cast your readied spell.

The dark souls thing is annoying, I just switched to the hotbar where you can drag stuff on there and around and use them with 1-9. Especially if you don't have the light spell and need to rely on torches instead I feel like this is far easier to use.

iirc spells can't fizzle, so if you have the mana to cast it does something. Every time you cast you also improve your respective magic school, which makes them really easy to level because you cam spam cast at nothing and then keep resting. Higher skill makes them cheaper, which is important for crafting new spells, ie AoE buffs.

Press (R)est and rest until healed. It works if there are no people or enemies around. Don't do it in towns or you get put into jail for loitering. You have to rent a room at an inn and do it there, or join the fighters guild for a free room, or camp out in the wilderness but you might get attacked.

Y/Z will ready your weapon. Settings -> Controls -> Weapon Swing Style -> Set it to click. Rightclicking will now instantly swing your weapon instead of having to drag your mouse to swing
