The most modern models are quite good at text, but all except NovelAI are heavily censored. For SDXL and older they could do really common sound effects and such like "AH" and "PLAP" because there was so much training data with those, but legible dialog and such required editing. I've been really impressed with NovelAI's V5 model though, it can do things like pic related and more with no editing (including speech bubbles, comic panels, etc).
