Headpats edition

>What is HDG?
HDG is a collective kink writing project about the Affini (an advanced precursor civilization from outer space), who aggressively care for every other species in the universe. They have finally turned their glittery eyes on future grimderp hypercapitalist nightmare humanity. Using their natural charisma and various classes of Xenodrugs, they aim to make Florets (d̶o̶c̶i̶l̶e̶,̶ ̶d̶r̶u̶g̶ ̶a̶d̶d̶l̶e̶d̶ ̶p̶e̶t̶s̶ loved and cared for individuals) of us all! But don't worry, they always have everyone's best interests at heart, even if their methods aren't even remotely consensual~

>That they happen to choose to do some things and not others does not map neatly onto any internally consistent reason except 'what the authors find hot'.
But that's not logically consistent in universe, it's a meta justification and a cop out. That's why I don't buy it. If we existed in the HDG universe there would be no 'what the author finds hot' to appeal to, and the affini wouldn't just act absurd.
The examples I gave would obviously be seen as hate fics and would not be widely accepted as canon. It's not even hard to invent some bureaucratic exceptions to avoid the worst case scenarios. I mean, you can attempt to contest notices of intent for a reason.
Maybe in the worst case scenarios empathetic affini step in and help challenge the notice, by redirecting trauma-conflicted pets to themselves instead.

Wouldn't the answer be "the evil Epstein expy floret be too domesticated to want to force flort victims to struggle snuggle with"? Like yeah there are florts that stay pretty sober and level headed but if you're an evil rapist I doubt the affini would just like let you be an evil rapist, even and including your owner
Granted I didn't read the whole argument so apologies if this was already covered.
And yeah if nothing else >>86314078 this is I think what would happen. There's no way it would happen without a bureaucratic fight from the species that gets off to paperwork

No this wasn't covered. and yea, I agree.
I don't think the whole 'if the author finds it hot' is actually that consistent, it only works because most authors right now have at least some values in common.
Like hypothetically If a bunch of women hating incels suddenly started writing HDG fics, trying to argue that the affini would entertain their misogynistic wish fulfillment fantasies and enslave whoever they want for them. I don't think the community would welcome it.
Like, lol, if you ask your affini to flort everyone who rejected you into a harem of submissive connivent slaves, you're getting force-femmed into submissive puppygirl yourself whether you volunteered or not imo.

This just returns to "there are no malicious florets". Florts getting their affini to domesticate anyone they want as a connivent? That depends pretty much entirely on the personality of the Affini involved, and is entirely congruent with existing norms. It just can't be malicious. So, the hypothetical incelflort wouldn't even be able to have malicious fantasies about enslaving people, but they absolutely could have lustful fantasies about indies becoming their connivents, and whether or not their affini fulfils those fantasies is a question of said affini's personality, not any in-setting barrier.
>>
I think people have gone too far with wish fulfillment, so now people are like "what if I really really want my affini to be evil, how does my wish fulfillment affini deal with this?"
and the answer is that if you read the original story there is definitely no implication that your affini will just do whatever you ask to make you happy. If you ask for stupid shit you'll be denied because you're a pet with no rights and your affini is not obligated to just give you whatever you want all the time, or do whatever you think will make you happy. An affini is just as likely to do the opposite of what you ask, and make you happy anyway.

That's the point. The whole thing doesn't really exist outside of it's meta purpose of being uncomplicated comfort. It absolutely could, but making something internally self-consistent would require breaking some of the rules and assumptions of the setting, and people don't like that, because then it's not uncomplicated anymore, which is the whole point.
>>
>ywn be the floret on the lap of an evil malicious maleffini while he plots to take over the world (the small scouting ship he lives on) (they stopped him from personally florting an entire corvette's worth of feralists)

>That's the point. The whole thing doesn't really exist outside of it's meta purpose of being uncomplicated comfort.
People keep saying that this or that is the point, but it just feels like projection. Some say the point is just mindless fapfiction, which ignores everyone with a fully asexual interest in the setting. Some say the point is for it to be uncomfortable and scary, which ignores all of those who don't find it all that scary and just find it comfortable. So I don't agree that the whole point is for it to be uncomplicated.
I don't see why any rules have to be broken for it to remain internally self-consistent. Just certain actions have to be justified beyond, 'author found it hot', a reason has to exist for why it happened and why it wasn't horrible and evil in the end, that is all.
Unlike a lot of people, I'm not optimistic when I imagine myself in the setting, I find comfort in there being structures in place that prevent worst case scenarios. I don't find comfort in, 'better hope you don't get unlucky'.
So if the question is, will an Affini enable your abuser to make you their sex-slave against your will even if you've done nothing wrong. The answer should be simple. No, affini aren't evil, they wouldn't just do that if you would hate it deep down, in universe something or someone would be in place to prevent it. IMO, If a fan fiction described this happening, then the assumption is that the character actually wanted to become their abusers sex-slave deep down, otherwise the affini wouldn't be so cruel.

Contesting a notice of intent doesn't really do anything, because rebutting a notice doesn't change anything about the intent of the affini who filed it. At most, you've documented that you don't want to be domesticated, which lasts right up until the affini persuades you otherwise.
>>
>>86317421
the best thing to do would be to get another affini to domesticate you
>>
>>86317421
>Contesting a notice of intent doesn't really do anything
Yea, I get that.
>because rebutting a notice doesn't change anything about the intent of the affini who filed it
I mean it could change things. It might strengthen or weaken the intent the affini has to domesticate you, given they have feelings. They might help you find someone else, or they might double their efforts to keep you. It's a variable that could change some stuff, otherwise there wouldn't be a form.
>>
>>86317421
>>86317657
yeah I think if you contest the notice with the right paperwork you can probably bog down the bureaucracy and make it difficult to domesticate you, especially if you're a well adjusted independent
if you got a council of affini to determine that the specific affini would not be a good match, they could probably make a permanent injunction against it. Most forcible domestications are against feralists.
