Going to Germany next month, but still undecided on wtf I should do. Should I spend a few days in Berlin area, then head down south to Munich area for final days, OR should I focus entirely on Northeastern Germany and just do day trips to all the cities near Berlin? I have 10 days. Also general Germany thread
the Economic zone #3 "Germlandz"-LLC irl isn't at all like your fantasyit's ugly, boring and bland. in that orderdestroyed in WW2 and never recovered. it wasn't all too pretty beforehand eitheryou're better off visiting Poland
>>2799015as far as german architecture goes, pic related is about as good as it gets... not very good. blandblame the prots and their soullessness
Gotta figure out what you want to do. Berlin for degenerate activities. Bavaria for beer, historic towns and nature. Baltic coast is cool but kind of boring. Most of west Germany is expensive and frankly a bit boring.
What are my chances of getting laid here?
>>2799004Personally I would spend the whole time in southern Germany especially Bavaria. It's my favorite region of Germany. >Munich>Nuremberg>Rothenburg>Nordlingen>Black Forest>Alps
>>2799004Berlin has it's charme and you can easily spend 10 days there and in the surrounding. That said the south is very different overall. Different food, beer, people, cleaner, safer. Overall more pretty I guess. Also nice to see. And Munich - Berllin has that rather quick ICE train connection. At least 2 or 3 days in Munich wouldn't hurt for sure. Maybe a day to the alps. Elvis Presley was stationed near Frankfurt and he drove to Munich twice because he liked it a lot. He skipped Berlin. >>2799016There are some old towns left that didn't get destroyed. Also here and there some pre-ww2 architecture. Always nice to see. >>2799031If you can't get laid in your home country it's more difficult in Germany I guess. What I find easier is to get a gal that is into femdom and other kinky stuff. But I'm a German so not sure about gaijin. There are whole online communities and apps for that and I find most rather wanna meet directly in person instead of texting all the time.
Rate my Germany itinerary >arrive Berlin >3.5 days of hanging around in Berlin >1 day trip to Potsdam>1 day trip to Hamburg>take train to Munich>1.5 days hanging in Munich >1 day trip to the Eagles Nest>go home the next day from Munich This doesnt mention the actual sites I wanna see, but is this a good general first time trip? Or is too much crammed in too little time?
>>2799433Skip Hamburg and add the day to Munich and it's fine. Hamburg is worth more than a day, so save it for another trip.
>>2799004Dusseldorf and Cologne were sold to me as underrated gems and they were completely boring
>>2799762Both of them are more niche/seasonal destinations. Düsseldorf is great for foodies, weebs, weeb con and during carnival that has a few things for anyone elseKöln is great for fags, cheap foodies, alcoholics and during carnival for anyone else you got the dome and just get out.
Can anyone reccomend some central and northern German towns and cities? Im considering Hannover, Hamburg and Bremen, and ideally some smaller charming towns with cute old ladies
>>2799004Berlin is worth plenty of time; the rest of the north east not as much unless you are really interested in former communist/Cold War sites.
>>2799917Kiel you can take a ferry ride to see a UBoat, Luneburg is quite charming and well preserved and an easy day trip from Hamburg
>>2799917Hamburg is great, Bremen is very similar to hamburg just way smaller. If you want something different I would suggest Kiel or Flensburg or go east and try Rostock or Stralsund.
>>2799917lübeckmöllnthe small northern sea islandsor go to denmark>>2799016there are many kinds of german architectureyou pic is somewhere nrw/he/nsalso if it pisses you off, improve it
Any options for budget lodging? Should I just stealth camp? Are the hostels full of fags and browns are will they be okay for sleep and possibly meeting cool people?
>>2799433>>2799457agree, Hamburg isnt worth it on this trip, too far and desu I have found it to be one of my least liked cities I visited in Germany (other than Frankfurt). as other poster said add a day on to Munich. If feel like you have seen enough of central in a day (honestly, if you know what you want to see and spend 12 hrs walking around, I think one day can be enough - which I know is controversial, but just my opinion) spend a day going to Dachau and nymphenburg palace. Or day trip to either Chiemsee (only advise if sunny day as otherwise it wont be very pleasant, for bavaria's answer to versailles) or Regensburg.Alternatively, keep everything the same, but stop for a day in Nuremberg on way to munich - its on the way and its one of my favourite cities in Germany
>>2799917If you go to Hamburg, definitely do even a half day trip to Lubeck. I think it only took me 45 mins on train from central station.
>>2799004North east mostly has nature stuff; the nice baltic beach and the Mecklenburg lake area. Nothing else in terms of cities though outside of Berlin. Maybe Spreewald. Depends on what you like. If you like nature stay there, if you want to see more classically german stuff go south. Theres much more to see in the central-southern area. Thuringia and Bavaria are beautiful.>>2799433Potsdam is skippable too. If you want to see big german cities, munich and berlin are pretty much enough.>>2799917Weimar, maybe Wittenberg (Protestantism was founded there)
>>2800258Well Hamburg has it's qualities. A harbor tour with the Speicherstadt is really cool, the luxury center around the Rathaus has something and the nightlife of St. Pauli is it's own really great thing. If you're under 30 it's a 10/10 place to explore, party, fuck and get drunk. Family travel is okay you got a awesome Zoo (seriously Hagenbeck is fantastic) and the Miniature wonderland is great for the kids and I also really enjoyed that. Gourmet food lover get their fix there too and for the old you got some world class golf courses and culture.I agree Hamburg is special but it's still worth 2-3 days for any age group while Frankfurt is complicated and for special interests unless you're willing to take day trips as you find so many great places a 1h train ride away that are almost untouched by tourism and really shine.
>>2799004Germany has some great castles ALTHOUGH French castles are even better. But if you've seen them already, head to Germany (and epecially Rheinland, Swabia, and Bavaria) to see their castles NOW.
>>2799004Go to Essen, I love it.
>>2800156The type of migrants who use hostels and travel around are usually not the violent type. Its viable. Just have an eye on your belongings. In more rural areas that are known to get visitors, older people often rent out a room or flat for quite cheap without posting it online. There, it can be worth (and fun) to just go there, loiter around and hope for the best.Stealth camping only in quite rural areas. Its forbidden and germany is a dense country. Chances are someone will see and report you. Might work if you larp as homeless idk
>>2800586>ALTHOUGH French castles are even betteruhm nothey are differentwhat you would usually consider a castle is a "château fort", but most castles that are count as castles in france are not fortified, just regular château'swhich are cool but something a bit differentGermany has, due to it's history of really being 100s of fragmented "states" / sovereigns, basically only the french equivalents of "château fort"or even more fortified cities / villagesalso geographic differenceand build up through longer timemakes German castles usually historically more interesting
Germoid bros, is there still plenty of historical architecture if a tourist focuses on smaller towns? I'd assume most of the bombing, pic related, was focused on industrial centres so little historical towns should still be somewhat prevalent?
>>2800644>were small towns less bombed and have more historic buildings?you can't really make that kind of blanket statementjust to give a few examplesTübingen or Ravensburg were bombed and still most buildings survivedFrankfurt or Dresden rebuild their historic centers in recent yearsMunich or Nürnberg rebuild right after WW2 and look (for some part) quite similar to pre warsmall cities weren't bombed, but unless historically significant all you'll find are a few unimpressive timber framed farm housessmall cities that survived well were already past it's prime in WW2 and only regained popularity due to tourism in recent decadese.g.Goslar, Weimar, Marburg, Wernigerode, Quedlinburg etc.so the size of the city doesn't really correlate with bombing intensityit's more a combination of industrial base in the 30s/40s and rebuilding decisions post WW2generally there is plenty of historical architecture everywhere though
>>2800653Thanks, genuinely want to visit at some point, love German/HRE history and would like to see some of the old stuff for my self.
>>2799457>>2800258>>2800311Ok I took out Hamburg and added a day to Berlin. I arrive in the morning so I really have 5 full days in Berlin area. I'll spend one of those on Potsdam. I'm not skipping it, because it actually has things I'm interested in it. In Munich, I still have about 2.5 days, depending on how early my train arrives. 1 of those days will be spent at Eagles Nest, my main motivation for Munich desu, but I'm not sure if I should spend another day on a day trip. I'm not interested in Dachau, because I've been to Auschwitz and frankly, if you've seen one you've seen them all, however I was contemplating Neuschwanstein Castle, although if I did both day trips, idk if I'd be missing out on the actual city of Munich
>>2800655>HRE historythen Aachen, Frankfurt, Regensburg and Wetzlar would be good starting pointsif you just want medieval vibes or even larpa few cities I really liked>Meersburg>Cochem>Nördlingen>Quedlinburg>Celle>Rothenburg ob der Tauberyes the last one is very touristic, but for all the right reasonsif you come in December, during Christmas timeyou can search for medieval Christmas marketsthey typically have lots of "old" / historic crafts theremedieval markets / festivals as well but these are often more music or kids oriented
>>2800156The migrants I've encountered in Europe have all been very well-behaved. Only when they are in their migrant ghettos surrounded by their buddies and feeling confident do they start causing trouble. Still, hostels suck. All it takes is one guy who snores or has awful smelling shoes to ruin the whole dorm. >finding a place to stay on the spotLugging your bags all over town looking for a place to stay isn't all that fun, unless you have the boundless energy of youth. >stealth campingIt's easy to hide in the summertime foliage, especially at night. However, dirt and odors will build up over time when living the vagabond life. Europeans are very snooty people, and they do not approve of broke foreign vagrants traipsing around their quaint little villages. It doesn't take much to develop an antipathy toward the locals.
>>2800156>Should I just stealth camp? It's illegal and you will get caught. It's almost completely impossible to get even 500m away from the last sing of civilization in Europe and especially Germany. Even the woods, people go there all the time.
>>2800156>Are the hostels full of fags and browns are >will they be okay for sleep and possibly meeting cool people?yesbut you have to pick the right hostels>Jugendherbergen (DJH) are typical very nice (location / building) but you have to deal with lots of high schoolers and they're kinda expensive for hostelsdon't go to anything named hostel near central train stationsotherwise the standard advice>read the hostel reviews>look at hostel location and decide if that's a location like minded people would go>>2800707>and they do not approve of broke foreign vagrants traipsing around their quaint little villageskekthat's because there are barely "public" unprotected lands in Germanyit's all densely populated and privately owned land or a protected reserveif you just have a tarpyou can get away with wild camping for a night at most places (only viable in summer)but otherwise you'll be caught and pay a couple hundred € fine
>>2799015Pooland stinks
>>2800545What good areas are near Frankfurt? Also, after I leave Frankfurt I'm heading towards Munich
>>2800829Well you got Wiesbaden with a 10/10 cultural scene and a high roller casino that is worth it's name and reputation, you got Aschaffenburg for your quick Bavaria fix and the Spessart for 8,5+/10 hikes if you got a car or want to plan, for coomers well there's Oase and some other high profile p2p night clubs, if you got a family the Zoo Frankfurt is cool but the real gem is the Opel Zoo near Kronberg that is worth a visit anyway. If you enjoy top tier food Frankfurt has a lot of options even for a lower budget and the äppler Kneipen in Sachsenhausen are fun to get wasted.
>>2800658 im >>2800258definitely go to Potsdam. I have been there twice, once in the height of summer a couple of years ago (35 degrees) and then just this last February when it was covered in snow and both were lovely in their own way. The only advice I would give for Potsdam is to book online if you want to go inside any of the buildings now, as I didn't know that and the first time I went was in the height of summer and I could not get in to the palaces. The park is free and you can wander around in anycase and I still had a great time, but it was disappointing as I love palace interiors and I didn't know at that stage I would ever be back in Potsdam as I thought it was a once in a lifetime thing. But I have since found myself back in Berlin like 5 times in the last couple of years and this winter there was no need to book in advance as there just weren't many people there. I could get a ticket to see sanssouci and the New Palace on the day.Same goes for the reichstag. Its free, but you have to book. All of my trips to Berlin have been last minute and I have never been able to get a slot. Even when I was last there - a week out all the places had been reserved.>>2800545I understand on paper why people can like Hamburg, its just for several reasons I didn't really enjoy it. I loved my day trip to Lubeck, but didn't vibe with the city. To be fair it was pouring with rain and in the middle of winter, and the weather makes a huge difference to how you enjoy a place. While the old shipyard area would have been cool to chill out and stroll around on a nice day - Ice cold song winds and rain made the experience not that great. Plus not to be too politically incorrect; I hated the whole migrants/ immigrants who make (at least the central and north of the transtation) the whole area feel sketchy and like you are in the Middle East or Africa. Same with Frankfurt, though as a physical city I find Hamburg to be more interesting.
Is the Berlin clubbing house/techno scene worth checking out? Will i fit in and meet cool people or chicks as a decent looking 33 year old burger?
>>2800667thanks! much appreciated
>>2800839Thanks for the info, at quick glance it looks like I could spend a few days each in Wiesbaden and Aschaffenburg, and maybe a day trip to Kronberg. I'm kind of a slow traveller and just like to walk and soak up the vibes and go to museums and parks.Any cities or towns of note in the circled area? I already have Rothenburg ob der Tauber on my radar
>>2801054Oh it's perfect for a couple of days of slow travel and just fool around. Bonuspoints for simple but good food and very taste wine/beer/cider where ever you go lower franconia and hessia are actually cider and wine centers. You didn't post a pic but I guess Nürnberg and the region, well Würzburg is awesome to stroll around and Tauberbischofsheim too. Then closer to Rothenburg would be Ansbach or even Bad Windsheim(this one is small but a great stop for a afternoon, lunch/dinner or just to spend the night) then we got Nürnberg for sure if you want it less touristic Erlangen (university city that gets hit mostly by regional tourism) last but not least Regensburg.
>>2801082My wife’s family is from Erlangen and it looks a lot different then it did 15 years ago.
>>2801095Oh it did but well it's still pretty comfy imo.
>>2800644Op forgot to include this classic image
>>2801082Oh and a pro tip just look for Kirchweih or Kerwa in the region, it's a local festival (think county fair) with some rides, music a lot of beer and sometimes even fireworks... They can be huge or super small but are pretty fun and worth a detour where you might find a super hidden gem of town/city by just giving it a shot.
>>2800882Defenitely worth checking out. Usually need some connections or a good vibe to get into the better clubs tho
>>2801104>doesn't include Cologne as category below bombed beyond repair>just ignores Ruhrgebiet despite cool historic industrial stuffothers are hilarious too>Baden-Baden peak German aestheticsholy kekother than the Casino, a thermal bath and like 2 streets it's a really shitty city>Bad Homburg on same level as Marburg and WetzlarMarburg and Wetzlar actually have complete streets out of timbered houses>Heilbronn even on the mapunless you work for Lidl HQ what are you even doing thereeast German cities are pretty accurate thoughlots of smaller cities missing (for understandable practical reasons), especially in Bavaria and Lower Saxony
>>2801082Thank you so much
>>2801082Are there notable areas within the circle?
>>2801668Well you got Heidelberg that is cool, else you go all the way over to Strasbourg, up to Freiburg, or you go up to lake Constance, there you got Konstanz, Friedrichshafen or Lindau that have something going. Anything else in your marked area well you can find some comfy small towns worth a stop and a beer but pretty much anything larger got bombed to shit or is now in total decay due to the downfall of industry that started in in the early 2000s.On the outskirt of Munich you got Starneberg, Herrsching or Rottach-Egern they're small but really comfy and if you want to go for a hike worth a stop.
If I'm only in Munich long enough for 1 day trip, which is better: The Eagle's Nest, or Neuschwanstein Castle?
>>2801687I still have to visit the eagles nest, but I can say Ive seen Neuschwanstein and it gave me a big boner
>>2799015A huge part of the few things worth seeing in Poland was built by German colonialists. Have self awareness.
>>2801968mutt moment
Should I avoid flying in and out of Frankfurt? I will bus or train to Munich asap but im wondering if it will be worth a night or 2 to stay in before flying home or if its too infested to enjoy
>>2802092Frankfurt is okay just the area around the main station is a complete mess and sadly the first impression you get from the city. There's a small old town with some history/museums, Kleinmarkthalle for foodies and the Äpplerkneipen (Cider taverns) in Sachsenhausen for the general traveler. The Opera is great if you enjoy that, it has a cool zoo but again not for everyone, then you have a great food scene if you're into upper/gourmet tier food, some gentleman clubs for p2p and a interesting nightlife/club scene that is it's own thing. To put it simple Frankfurt is a banking city and the center (CBD) will start to empty out at the end of business hours and is pretty much ded by 9pm as everyone goes back to their "village in the city" or any comfy place within a 1h train/car radius. What is left is the junky/red light center around the main station and the designated nightlife areas.Frankfurt Airport is well connected (straight to the ICE network) if you don't have connecting flights it's actually a okay airport to arrive/depart just keep in mind this thing is a maze under perma construction for over 10 years and will stay that way for at least 5 more. So depending on when you arrive it can be super smooth or wild stuff.Do what you want but IMO it's a okay place to stay for 1-2 days just stay outside of the Bahnhofsviertel and it's good.
>>2802119>Frankfurt Airport>it's actually a okay airport to arrive/departpersonally it's one of my favorite airportsespecially if you travel with Lufthansa Status, it's really gooda bit biased, because it's my home airport and I fly a lot from therebut that also means I never realized how shitty it is for transitonly get to hear the horror stories / bad experiencesand always thinking to myself "oh well I never had that", before I realize, I never had a transit through FRA despite like 200+ flights from / to therealso Frankfurt central station is kinda okayit's just that one direction you shouldn't walk tobut every other one is fine
>>2802122I'm from Zurich, so I connect often trough FRA just because. As a arrival/departure airport it's 9/10 times totally great but sometimes you get lost in the maze. For connections it can really suck even connecting from LH/LX to LH/LX flights. But it's nothing compared to the hell that is CDG or IST.I'm just a SEN status holder so I sadly can't bypass the entire mess via the FCT on all my travels.
>>2802142Hows the public transport from city center to the airport? And is frankfurt even worth a day or two for exploring ans chilling?FKK?
>>2802144>Hows the public transport from city center to the airport?Good, reliable and usually very fast.>And is frankfurt even worth a day or two for exploring ans chilling? You can cover a day easily and even some more, see >>2802119 else the region has a lot to offer within a 1h train ride.>FKK?Yeah they exist.
>>2801687>NeuschwansteinAt least I would. Its a slightly easier trip to do in a day and although typically very busy, is still impressive. Unless you are obsessed with Nazi history, Eagle's Nest is only OK. Much of the charm is the wider area of Berchtesgaden - hikes and boat trips on Koingsee etc which can be done in a day if staying close by, but not that great is leaving from and going back to Munich. Both need a decent amount of playing if doing it in a day and arent doing a tour that picks and drops you off in munich
>>2802150*both need a decent amount of planning
>>2802146Oh shit my bad I missed that post in the thread, thx>>2802150neaustastatastein castleIdk bro I just took the train to and from and walked my ass to the viewing point and then upclose with no planningTo go inside you might need some planning though
Is this accurate?
>>2803079kekbut no>1st guymostly eastern but only there in commie blockand also most russia-germansregular people in eastern Germany don't dress ( behave much differently than anywhere else(except when they show their /pol/tier powerlevel)>2nd familymaybe on (village) fairs or weddingsi grew up near the alps and the only time we wore (and still do wear) traditional clothing is for weddingspic related is what rural people in Germany actually wearand you see this quite often in southern or eastern Germany>3rd talahonsonly at central train stations of big cities everywhere in Germanyor some near some night clubs / barsthey look and behave like retards but usually harmless
>>2803106Do Germans exchange pleasantries like good morning or good night with strangers, or hotel clerks or store clerks
Not the OP but i am also headed to germany in august, specifically munich area. I want to make my trip as degenerate as possible with FKK and potentially sex parties/gangbangs. Is there any good sites for these?
>>2801687Both of those are great. I can’t imagine having to choose. Add an extra day to a Munich.
>>2803288Can you spend more than a day at each location?
>>2803288Already booked my hostels.I'll have 3 days in Munich, though it's really 1.5. I'll arrive by train around mid day, explore the city, see some sites I'll have time for, maybe some night life. Then on day 2 I was planning to do basically the same for the whole day, complete anything I missed. Then day 3 I'd be at the Eagles Nest all day, and fly home early in the morning next day. Do you think I could still squeeze in Neuschwanstein Castle on day 2?
>>2803335Neuschwanstein is a 2 hour trip south. Youll have to either walk up or take carriage. Youre better off seeing it over the eagles nest.
>>2803338I'm already seeing Sansoucci Palace on this trip while in Berlin. Eagle's Nest seems more unique and I don't want to burn myself out with palaces. At least that's my reasoning. I could still be swayed, but that's why I've been leaning Eagle's Nest
Bayern >>>> powergap >>>> all other parts of Germany
can anyone redpill me on Rostock?
>>2803278>Do Germans exchange pleasantries like good morning or good nightreally depends on who you are talking togood morning is pretty commongood night would be kinda weird if it's not friends or familyso for good morning:>with strangers, your neighbors? yesin very rural areas? yessome random stranger in the bus or tram? no>or hotel clerksi tend to say no, but either way is fine>or store clerkssupermarkets? nosmall mom n pop stores? yesregarding good nights, which would directly translates to>Gute Nachtwhich is quite "intimate"you only really say this to you family, friends, partner etc. but definitely not strangersthe more "general" version would be e.g.>Schönen Abend noch / Ihnen (nice evening to you)>Bis morgen (until tomorrow; something to say to colleagues)
>>2803335Yes, but there is quite a bit of walking on the Neuschwanstein visit. You’d be pretty much wiped out by the time you return to Munich later that afternoon. But it’s certainly doable.
>>2803335I've heard the castle is not worth going inside. Tourist trap. The outside and surrounding areas are meant to be nice though.
>>2803450>the castle is not worth going insidedepends on how many castles you've already seenit's still cool, just not as special as it is from the outsideSchloss Herrenchiemsee is much more interesting inside thoughif you visit 5 other castles / palaces during your stay, skip the insideif it's your only stop, then might as well do everything when there
>>2803450If seem the insides of a lot of palaces, castles and chateaux in Europe, and I thought Neuschwanstein was one of the more interesting ones. The murals depicting Germanic myth, especially interesting given his friendship with Wagner. And the swan motif repeated throughout.
>>2803079Sorta, would add thuringia to the middle circle tho. Also foreigners are everywhere but in rural eastern areas. There you have alabama tier methhead wiggers tho>>2803380Pretty average city. The harbor is nice but nothing special. If you want to enjoy the baltic Rügen/Hiddensee and Usedom are better
>>2803982Thanks anon. I met a girl from there last year when she was visiting the US.
>>2799004The southeast is the only place with beautiful nature. There are many beautiful cities in Franconia, Bavaria and Baden. Maybe you can start in Berlin, drive down and visit some eastern cities like Dresden on the way, then Franconia, then Noerdlingen, Allgaeu/Zugspitze/Neuschwanstein and finally Munich.
>>2804797and maybe you shouldn't fall for the southwest meme. the black forest is boring and nothing like the bavarian forest or the alps/allgaeu. Heidelberg and Colmar are special and perhaps the most beautiful German cities, but otherwise there's much more to see in the eastern half of Germany.
>>2799004>Going to Germany next month, but still undecided on wtf I should do.Visit technology museums like the one were we have a Concorde and Shuttle.https://speyer.technik-museum.de/en/spaceshuttle-buranHonestly every big city is a waste of time, unless you like museums. In Frankfurt the Palmengarten is nice if you enjoy botanical gardens with exotic plants.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palmengarten?useskin=vector>Should I spend a few days in Berlin areaAbsolutely not!>Munich areaExpensive and boringYou could visit our largest forest and enjoy peace, it would be like a Sabbatical https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Odenwald?useskin=vectorPlease use the time for healing. >>2806112>please use the time for healingCan you please explain this?
>>2806136https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=faQg4STqa24There is no deeper meaning or secret to my post. Use it as silent place of self-reflection. You don't need hippie meditation for that. Personally I like people doing a podcast during their hikes.https://www.komoot.com/guide/193/hiking-in-the-odenwald
And whilst you are at it order some German junkfood like Kalte Schlachtplatte. Look up local restaurants dealing in Hausmannskost, if there is an image of food you want to try, just order by picture and ask for a price. Tipping culture here is 2 or 3 Euro even if you spent a lot of money (like going out with 4 people) if you liked the service. If you don't tip they won't say a thing and know you were not happy. It's wholly optional.Trips should be cultural and for the mind or soul.
>>2806141The raw meat is minced pork with chopped onions. If it is called Mett it is safe to eat due to mandatory screening by vets for trichinosis. If you like smelly cheese order Handkäse in the federal state of Hesse(n). All of this is light and good in mid or late summer.
The spicier boomer food is an acquired taste, many Zoomers refuse the classic Hausmannskost, which is a shame. If you miss out on these or go into tourist traps (Oktoberfest scam) then you will largely experience only consumerist Germany which is not much different from any other country.
I've been in Germany a few days, mostly comfy. Taking pictures of the culture which seems to be Muslims protesting and gays protesting. Took pics of the Muslim rally no problem. Took a few crowd shots of the homos and some woman started yammering at me eventually saying in English I could take group pictures but not pics of individuals (I wasn't) it is illegal. After I took my picture I turned around and her and her mystery meat friend with multiple piercings and a kafieyeh were behind me so I took their picture since they were a group. Then we all got in a big shouting match. Lmao. Is it really illegal to take a picture in Germany? And wtf it's a 25 cent deposit on a can of beer?
Where is the best place to snowboard in southern germany/austria in august? I know im limited to a glacier, but im hoping there might be decent options near the zugspitze? Closest i could find on google was a two hour drive.
Everything will be closed August 15th and the whole weekend right? For the assumptionn of mary or whatever holiday?
>>2806191>Is it really illegal to take a picture in Germany? The more people are on a pic the less illegal it is. Given that a demonstration is a public event, no you didn't do anything wrong. Sorry that you ran into assholes and Karens from my country.
>>2806236What? First time I'm hearing this. I already booked a trip for that weekend. I highly doubt it given how secular Germany and west Europe are.
When you see Munich you've seen the best Germany has to offer
>>2806740Best fkk/laufhaus?

>>2806421Maybe its more of a bavarian thing but i was on a bicycle tour in the middle of August once and it seemed the only thing open was gas stations for a long weekend or something , i just remember living off pringles and gas station coffee for 2-3 days and some locals said it was a holiday
>>2806797>Maybe its more of a bavarianmost public holidays vary from state to state or even city to city (in Bavaria)Assumption of Mary is indeed only a public holiday in most of Bavaria and Saarlandand yeah stores are closed on these daysthough some airports / train stations have 24/7 supermarkets that are still openotherwise you can always go to a Bakery or eat Döner, which will feed you somewhat cheaplyeating only pringles is entirely on you
>>2806886Is it the whole weekend or just Friday? Will tourist stuff be open at least?
>>2801668There are some nice midsized places. Ludwigsburg has a nice baroque style palace, if you are interested in stuff like that. Esslingen has a nice medevial old town area.Ulm is a nice city with the highest church in world.Tübingen is a university town that has a nice old center.Around Stuttgart there are a lot of smaller towns that while having nothing speacial are still pretty nice and might be worth a visit if you want to see something with almost no foreign tourists. (For example Kircheim, Waiblingen, Marbach, Besigheim, Schwäbisch Hall, Schorndorf)If you want some real german experiences go to some small village festivals and get drunk on local wines and beers. All in all Stuttgart itself is a bit of shithole, but has some better corners. If you are into cars both museums might be interresting for you.If you like Planes, tanks, trains un such Sinsheim is pretty cool for the Technik Museum.
>>2806755Outside the bigger cities mostly vineyards. The Rhine valley and the mosel valley are pretty nice though and offer some castles. Other than that it might be a bit boring

>>2807067>If I take a group pic then crop it to one person is this now illegal?if you want to dig into German lawas long as the unknown person is not the focus of the picture it is legal, especially if you crop it anywaythe only times even a person in the backdrop might be illegal, if the person is in "helplessness", distress or you want to make fun of that personalso if that person is in a "private space" e.g. you make a photo in front of a bedroom windowthen it's illegal to even take the picturealso if you want to publish the photo on social media / share it publicly (note that even family chats can be considered public in German law if large enough)then you HAVE to crop them or pixel their facesall the forbidden stuff is a criminal offense btwso not civilbut the police will rarely do anythingyour biggest problem will be manfreds (karens) that shout at you for taking their picture kek

As an american do i have to worry about the voltage for charging devices like my cell phone or video game consoles? I dont want to blow my steam deck up from plugging it into a wall outlet.
>>2807937>do i have to worry about the voltage for charging devicesyes and nousually they'll work for both 110-120V and 220-240Vjust look up the specs of your chargerfor some categories, like home appliances, it is more common to have 2 versionsbut chargers typically can handle both
Are women in Germany extremely bossy? I was in a city square and there were a few tour groups. I stood near one and with in a minute bossy the cow, the tour leader looked at me and said I couldn't stand there. I basically laughed her off but she kept going and finally asked the tour group if it was ok I stood there, they said it was ok not that I cared so I told her she had my permission to stand there as well. Wtf is wrong with them? Is that how women act towards men here in Germany?
>>2807937You need to get a proper big frankfurter and just balance it on the device. the electrical charge will transfer and charge the phone about 23% each time. 4 sausages for a near full charge
>>2809144German women are soulless monsters beyond any comprehension. Get used to it. They either act and talk like sandniggers, because they got raped by shitskins or they are stuck up controlling bitches, who like to berate everyone and everything and have no self-preservation instinct.
If I'll be in Munich for only 2 days on Friday and Saturday, and Friday is ascension day, which day is better for me to take a guided tour day trip to the Eagles Nest?My understanding is many things will be closed on Friday

My laptop charger's prongs are pitted from hundreds of fat sparks from shithole countries which don't have a power switch on their outlet cover. But everything still works.
3 weeks in Germany and it's all the sameOh look there's some beautiful architectureOh look there's some gay propaganda Oh look there's some beautiful German girlsOh look the Africans have taken over the parkOh look there's some beautiful nature Oh look there's some middle eastern guys who look like they want to stab meMost countries I go to the women look at me like 'hey wanna be my bf and buy me stuff' but here it's like 'please protect me from all these scary new Germans'.
>>2812190Sounds like perfect wife material. Europe seems like the place to search. I dont know why all these faggots are obsessed with SEA
>>2812190What part of germany are you in? Here in bavaria it has been beautiful landscape, tons of pretty germany girls, lots of cool history, and beer. Even went to munich for a couple days and the worst that happened was i wandered into a whore house i thought was a bar, danced with some random girls who were whores and they bought drinks apparently on my tab, and i threw about 40 euros at the bartender and told them to get fucked. Then the rough romanian looking dudes on the slots followed for me for a few blocks until they gave up. You just kind of sound boring from your post and like you spend your time obsessing over non-whites and seething that randoms who dont speak uour language wont just magically trip over your dick with 0 interaction.
>>2812304The girls are hot but the government propaganda is strong maybe take them to Panama or Thailand. No exaggeration here but the degeneracy is so extreme it's like they are trying to summon hitler. It would be a paradise here in Germany without the perversion and diversity.

Munich is a shit hole this is worse than India
>>2813232you're there right now?

See a blind German man with a cane being terrorized by an African screaming at him. I won't ever come back.i felt safer in south America
>>2813667I don't think there are any, they do have plaques everywhere saying Jews were mistreated here or Jews built Germany and little brass signs on the ground saying a jew lived here and was murderered
>>2813667There isn't much left most of it got bombed to shit, demolished/abandoned after the war or is simply not worth the detour. Olympiastadion Berlin, Reichsparteitag Nürnberg, Eagels Nest and that's about it. You might find a leftover flak tower here, bridges that still bear the Hakenkreuz there but that's nothing worth seeing.
>>2813673Miss me with that shit.I've been to France, Italy and Spain, wanted to go to Germany next but I'm from this thread I'm starting to get the impression is not worth it. Vienna at least was cool.Might be better to go to Poland or Czech Republic instead.
>>2813691It might be worth visiting but there's like 2 Germanys and if you take trains you get both, the train and a mile or two around the station is full of diversity, you won't feel good or safe at all it's hell and that's where your hotel will be, then beyond that there are pockets of all or mostly Germans which are great. I went to some museums today 100% of the patrons were Europeans with a few east Asians all the guards were black. Museums are 10/10 architecture 10/10 it's a war crime that the diversity was forced on the Germans
>>2813691And Poland is fantastic
>>2813708>beyond that there are pockets of all or mostly Germans which are greatmany of them are very Jewish though. the younger woman are hot and welcoming, but turns out there are two mini-hotels with practically the same name in the same shithole by Fussenwhen the vegan hotel with the blonde milf regretfully said we didn't have reservation as they were fully booked we went to one run by german peasants that was our actual bookingtldr the booking.com listing said we had breakfast included but when we go down in the morning to the hotel kitchen (clearly accessible to guests by the main entrance) we weren't even allowed to make a fucking cup of tea. then they all leered at us suspiciously as if we were niggers or gypsies looking to rob them and not blue-eyed and green-eyed honest European stock
Is it true Berlin is bad now? At least during the night? I saw some video of some dude who almost got robbed by a nafri at like 3 am

Everything you think you want to see in Germany, is actually in Austria. Go there instead.
>>2814110>munich is much scarierI was on an okcupid date with some dumb german girl and we were chilling at a park and the sun went down and there was mobs of browns and i was getting scared and I asked her "is Munich safe at night, like are we okay here in this park after dark?" She said "yes its safe here" if they attacked us i would of let her dumb feminist ass get eatten up. She must of wanted to prove she was strong and independent because she got upset when I paid for the beers lol

I make sure I'm back in my hotel by 6pm there's entire streets nothing but middle eastern men and African men glaring at you.And wtf is pic related that's the information board of a train station, this shit is everywhere.
>>2817296I just left Hamburg a couple days ago on my own Germany trip. There's a lot to see there and I left feeling like there was still so much to visit. Red-light district is OK, it's definitely worth a stroll through but I don't think it should be the sole reason for seeing the city. I didn't go to any of the clubs on the Reeperbahn though, too sleazy (and straight) for my tastes, but maybe that's something you're in to.Don't make the mistake I made and stay near the train station.Lubeck is close by and worth a visit if you're going to be in Hamburg for a few days.
>>2817749don't make the mistake i made *of staying* near the train station, I should clarify as someone mentioned earlier in the thread your hotel/hostel should be a good distance away from that area

>>2817749How is Hamburg really like? Besides being a lefty central.Would you rate it for solo travel?
>>2817819I cannot say too much definitively about it, as I was only there for a couple days, and this was my first time solo travelling (from the US), and I just kind of winged my visit to Hamburg with not too much prep. The city was full of a lot of pretty architecture, much more so than berlin, and it feels far more spacious as well. Canals are everywhere and it's a great place to explore, but I would say things are spread out enough that you should be prepared to do a lot of walking or utilize public transit. The warehouse district was extremely pretty, and looking over the river at all the harbors was also a cool sight. The city kind of feels like it's right on the coast, even though it's a good 30-60 minutes from the sea.The city didn't really feel really like "lefty-central" to me, and if anything Berlin deserves the title more-- Hamburg's St. Pauli (Red Light district) gave me more of a sleazy Vegas vibe compared to Berlin's punk/queer Kruezberg. (But also the place being "lefty central" isnt something that bothers me, so maybe I'm understanting it. Take what I say with a grain of salt.)There were a lot of bums/druggies around the train station, but I wasn't bothered or asked for money at all during my trip there. Some around the Reeperbahn too in certain places, like in front of the KFC (lol), but they were all minding their own business. I have heard that the city has a drug problem, but outside of those two areas I didn't see anyone that made me feel very unsafe. As a solo traveler there it was hard for me to link up and talk to people, but I think that's partly due to me picking a shitty hostel where nobody talked and me being socially anxious. If you're comfortable going out of your way to meet people I think you'll have a much better time. Also as I mentioned before there's a lot of other quaint towns like Lübeck all within a 30-60 minute train, perfect for day trips.
>>2817837Holy based post, thanks anon.Is it an expensive city for sleeping in?Walking a lot will not be a problem, I averaged 25k steps just a couple weeks ago in Italy. I kinda want to give Germany a try since I've never been there and Hamburg harbor looks cool, I once bought a ticket to Dortmund but did not go because I was low on cash and anons told me there was literally nothing to see there.
>>2817880I got a good private room for 100 a night. Hostels were cheaper around 40. I booked last minute though, so my prices were also more expensive. The harbor was very cool to look at, personally. Lot of industrial stuff, but it still has its charm. Lots of places in Germany are close by so if you don't end up liking Hamburg, the next town is only a couple hours away. If you plan on using transit a lot there's a Germany-wide transit (Deutchland tickets) that covers all buses/subways/trams/regional ticket for 60 euros/month, check the fine print for when you have to cancel your subscription to avoid paying for the next month. However this ticket does not cover the long distance high speed ICE trains. I haven't done the math on how much this ticket is worth it, but it's been convenient for me.
hallo
Who's going to GalaCon?
I've met a lot of Germans whist travelling over the years but I've never been to Germany itself. The men often seem cucked into oblivion. The women are often very hot and outgoing but it seems like they are literally all faggot obsessed social worker types and also really rather boring when you talk to them. I was once invited to visit Cologne by one of them but turned it down. Austrians are usually funnier, more laid back and self-aware in my experience. My overall impression of krauts is that they are terrified of going against the liberal groupthink and subject to huge cognitive dissonance. A Brit or an American may generally keep their mouths shut about immigration etc but have little problem telling you what they really feel should you press them on it. Germans, probably due to guilt complex and post-war psychological warfare inflicted upon them, seem utterly incapable of even questioning the huge problems that mass immigration has bought upon them. I find Germans to be rather sad people. Intelligent, successful, hard working people. But there is something fundamentally broken in them. I guess losing 2 world wars will fuck up a national psyche for a long time into the future. I met a cool German guy on my last trip who said to me never judge Germans as a whole based on those who come from Berlin and that in Germany, the cardinal rule is to just say nothing which i thought was an interesting statement.
>>2818342Of course they're buckbroken, the german spirit was completely erased from history post ww2. After losing the war they were fed nothing but guilt, propaganda and how bad the reich was and even nowadays they completely ignore the atrocities committed by allies and commies. They are not allowed to talk about what happened to women after the fall of Berlin, they're not allowed to discuss the punishment imposed upon civilians by the british bombing of Dresden. Even today they're not allowed to oppose mass migration or ethnic replacement, they not only have to accept it they have to be happy about it, they're most cucked people in Europe because they have to welcome the middle easterners and defend the kikes at the same time, it's a complete shitshow. Also they had to commit economic suicide, maybe when they're on the bread line they'll wake up. As a Mannschaft appreciator it saddens me seeing that country fall that low.
>>2812858Prora, Buchenwald>>2813661Berlin has many nice museums and is one of the best cities in the world to droog and whore out if you are degenerate. Also Spreewald and Mecklenburg lake area are close, Wittenberg too if you like history and wanna see Luther shit. Germany is the birthplace of protestantism as a whole, you can discover a lot about that if you are into that.>>2813667There isnt a lot that doesnt just look like generic old german architecture >>2817303Only when talking about Bavaria>>2817880If you like nerd shit, theres a cool particle accelerator (DESY) in Hamburg and I think they do tours >>2818342Mostly truth. Those who travel to the usual travel destinations are more often than not lefties. In east germany there are more basedbros. The basedbros usually dont travel all that far, afaik lots of austria and scandinavia. Also, the sheer amount of jew propaganda and guilt tripping in school and society, like >>2818375 said, can never be understated. Many states have mandatory concentration camp visits.
Have a real tourist destination: Adolf Womenbeater Kickboxing Gym
>>2799004HOW THE FUCK DO I BUY BAYERN MINICH TICKETS
>>2818396Find a reseller like viagogo and buy it for 10x the price. And I'm not even joking, the stadium is 88% season ticket holders and 10% away fans/officials that won't be sold anywhere else. Left is something like 2% + tickets returned by season ticket holders that can't go where Club Members got dibs on and only if they don't want them they end up on the open market.
>>2818375The museums are totally cucked, virtually all of them have trigger warnings and apology statements seemingly at randomWent to an ethnography museum. There were multiple apologies in every room colonizers, oppressors etc and statements that the collectors of the artifacts were bad men, all artifacts returned to the noble browns. Then a room teaching kids how to be gay and telling women not to smile, another room devoted to black women complaining white people want to touch their hair. Last room pictures of women (on right)who destroyed the museum by giving away all the artifacts . Funny thing is the museum next to it has artifacts from Japan and Greece and Switzerland they don't give those back only the ones they consider like children
The weird thing about Germans is they are extreme far leftists but they don't seem crazy deranged like American Democrats. I've talked to a bunch and they just say whatever the government says no matter how insane. Right now the government says open borders, be gay etc . If the government says gays bad close the border throw them in the oven they will turn overnight . The guy holding this sign seemed totally normal but is apparently ok living under a dictatorship that bans political candidates .
>>2818480So if the AfD actually got in, you think the kraut hivemind would fall in line behind them? People often describe Germans as the Chinks/Japs of Europe, that they have a very collectivist psyche compared to other European nations. The fire rises?
>>2818480I‘m an American that knows Germany (is also German) and that’s basically it. Germans are arrogant authoritarians by nature and there really isn’t anything to be done about that. Things are meant to be done a certain way and anything that steps out of their perceived permissible zone is to be ridiculed and punished, viewed as dangerous and unacceptable. They’re good people, but once you get to know them it’s no wonder they were involved in endless wars. Particularly, when you understand French grandeur and fervor, as well as collective nature and British rowdy yet tall poppy submissive nature too. Europe is pretty fucked. Lots of great things about it, but people are sheeplike in nature and unironically fascistic here. Hilarious when they think it’s ok because they’re the leftist good guys now.
>>2818665AfD is already ‚in‘. It’s the second biggest party in parliament. For AfD to take power it would first require a national crisis. CDU would have to burn all bridges with the left and partner with them or another party that fills a few huge gaps in the political landscape would have to emerge en force. For that to come to fruition, like I said, there would need to be a crisis which leaves the German people tense, anxious, and looking for a new solution. Even if Germans get frustrated with politics, they jump through mental hoops to justify it. It’s why CDU, the party which let in migrants en masse with naive optimism, could start campaigning on sensible immigration restrictions and play off fears the last round. People identify with a party perception (ie, how others view the party and thus hhow they present themselves to others) and accept the party line even as it changes. Principles and individual values aren’t really a thing here as much.
>>2818665>Germans as the Chinks/Japs of Europe, that they have a very collectivist psycheI've been thinking this, I think both evolved over a long period to be high IQ, follow orders, value certain things like Harmony, beauty and order. Remarkable similarities. I spent 6 months in Japan recently and they have no public guilt about WW2, like none they don't even acknowledge anything bad they did which I think is healthy. Germany it's overwhelming, little Jew plaques everywhere, memorials, Jew discs on the pavement, every museum says Germans are bad, so now every German alive is broken so many mindlessly saying I'm antifacist. Saw a sticker with a homo flag that said live your life so as AFD would disapprove and that really sums it up they really have no principles except to be ugly weirdos and destroy civilization.Maybe it can be turned around by a determined group of young men and the lefties would fall in line . Clocks ticking though and large parts of Germany are no longer comfy. I've seen multiple homo marches, antifa marches, tranny and other lefties at dozens of booths, thousands of lefty stickers on poles, never seen AFD or any right wing thing in public anywhere except for 1 sticker
>>2818789Homosexuality seems to be the one issue German women are most fervent about. Every German female I have met is militantly pro-fag, they really believe gays are completely oppressed and endangered and can do no wrong
>>2818797I went to a pridefest, sponsored by the government lots of big companies political parties etc degeneracy on full display but yeah they think they are oppressed. Have yet to see any be normal propaganda. The city government had a booth full of homotrans propaganda and trinkets staffed by all women one of whom I had a long talk with she was like the girl next door so cute and wholesome looking and sounding the girl you're mom would love but she thought every extreme homo thing was good, they are oppressed really bizzare. Women can be made to believe anything.

Rats extended in size and density in citys. These are my own observations.>>2820499>Deutschlandticket require german bank account. Now I see what your question was. I thought you were asking for planning your route. That's true. Try explaining your problem at the station to DB-people at the information counters (check if one is there, as a lot got shut down due to greedy DB policy)>Also can I plan one day trip? as in does ICE trains run 24/7 and the same for local public transport?I think I do not clearly understand your question. During night time (after 1am) and weekends there will be less trains. ICE and local trainlines are different tarifs. You will be heavily fined and it is a criminal offense to go without or with the wrong ticket. Also DB security is just waiting to beat you up. Expect delays, as german train system is fucked up at least for the next 5 decades. You could buy a daily ticket but it costs more than half of the Deutschlandticket. Better rent a car if you have a credit cart and driving license.
>>2820508>Rats extended in size and density in citysGrim>Try explaining your problem at the station to DB-people at the information counters I looked around and there wasn't a reference to this. There are apps like mopla that should offer it, but I'm not sure how to integrate that with DB navigator.>I think I do not clearly understand your questionAh sorry.I mean for the ICE/IC/EC when's the last train for the day?>the wrong ticket.Doesn't the DB navigator offer this? And why your public transport so confusing? My idea since I'll be staying in dortmond with some people and instead of moving to new city, I'd just go visit other cities with trains and return in the same day.So for example on saturday I want to travel hamburg.I use the Deutschlandticket to travel to the station and then take the train to hamburg.Where do I validate my ticket??And then return on the same day. Also do most supermarkets stay open 24/7?
>>2820518>Doesn't the DB navigator offer this?Yes but they will give you the more costly tarif mostly because ticket system sucks>I mean for the ICE/IC/EC when's the last train for the day?We have night trains but check that before you conscider a plan>why your public transport so confusing?Because the people in charge don't care as they are a half capitalized company. It also has to do with decentralized federalization. It is a problem in many sectors like also in digitalization of government authority administration. Imagine having more system instances to handle brings more subcompanies into play -> more money for your high tier company friends you bring into the economic make up. Because of that our politicians do not have interest in designing an easy way for us. Reestablishment of the guilotine might be a solution.>Where do I validate my ticket??I think it is validated for the exact route and date if you have bought an QR electronic ticket. If the train is not coming have fun with a complaint. If a physical ticket is allredy validated you will find "Ticket bereits entwertet" written on it. Otherwise find a stamp machine on station.>return on the same dayGood luck! you will need it. Try ICE (costly) or Blablacar. Also Hamburg is a place to get lost during the night (Reeperbahn) and not very interesting during the day unless you know where to go and have interest into history. Conscider a night stay and try to stay out of trouble (drunk and crazy people around, scammers etc.).>Do most supermarkets stay open 24/7?Mostly not. In my City (minor big city) there is one staying open till 12 exept weekends. Mostly they close 22pm and for discounters like LIDL or ALDI until 20pm
>>2820518>Also do most supermarkets stay open 24/7?No, almost 99% will be closed on sunday and on public holidays. In the evening most things will be closed by 20:00-22:00 with very few 24h shops mostly in large cities. Some regional alcoholics and junkie meeting points (Trinkhalle/Bude in NRW, Späti in Berlin etc..) might open till 0:00, 02:00 or even 24/7.
What applications do I need while in Germany to get out and about?>DB NavigatorWhat else? What do you use to order food/groceries?And how's the AirBnB in Germany?

I'm going to Essen next month for an event. I was thinking of staying in Ruhr area for a few days and go hiking in forests and hills. Maybe see some old castle or monastery ruin or whatever. What are some neat national parks or nature areas within at most 3h by public transport? I've been to Eifel and Siebengebirge, and those were neat. I could go for a similar experience.

I got scammed by Airbnb host. The apartment I booked is empty.I can sleep on the floor since it's heated, but what about cooking?
>>2799004Only must See city around Berlin is Potsdam. Move to the South in saxony for Dresden or Mountains (Basteibrücke) or north to Schwerin for nice rural area and lakes. Rhineland has castles.
>>2799031If you are willing to pay and are not completely dumb 100%
>>2799762Cologne underrated. Rather overrated
>>2818342>>2818375If you go to France, Versailles and other landmarks have entire hallways dedicated to every major and minor general and military officers from the Napoleonic era. They are allowed to honour and celebrate their war heroes and criminals who tried and failed to conquer all of Europe.Imagine seeing that next door, but then your own country forbids you from doing the same thing essentially.
>>2818789>me>getting german passport+citizenship soon from a legal quirk cuz I'm 1/4 german>born & raised in the US & Identify strongly with individualist ethos> not sure how I feel about being a germI signed up for the passport when I heard about the quirk because I figured it'd make travel easier, but other than the beer & maybe techno, it seems like US culture is objectively superior.

How do I avoid getting scammed when renting?I'm looking into renting a small studio, and want to get some more info, the host didn't respond.I've contacted them repeatedly, is this red flag for a scammer? It's the basecamp student flat, through AirBnB.
>>2827464 Well I was there, and everywhere is just full of people chatting in their own groups, just like every other city in the world. The concept of picking people up at a bar is a myth. You meet people at school, work, or online and go on pre planned dates.
so I have a question, what is the general opinion on DB? next year im going to start working with them, but im not from germany and I don't what the consensus about them is
