Just got back from a long weekend in Singapore. Was quite underwhelmed by the experience. It was pretty gay and I would recommend KL instead.
>>
>>2804748
Thanks for checking in and announcing that you are a fucktard. Now move along and go so some *real* traveling in Syria or Iran.
>>
>>2804748
If a city has skyscrapers, it's practically over.
>>
>>2804748
All those cute nerdy Singaporean girls, and none of them were interested in you. Yeah it's upsetting.
>>
>>2804748
I've honestly never been all that impressed with Germany. Oh and fuck Amsterdam.
>>
Singapore is very expensive and not very friendly for short term guests unless you can pay out. It's a great place to work and live though I guess if you land a job. For example just like in Hong Kong and experienced subject teacher with native English passport can get paid 130-140kusd with a housing stipend which more than covers the additional cost of living.
>>
>>2804847
>130-140kusd
>for an English teacher
No, you’re lying or misinformed.
>>
>>2804849
>No, you’re lying or misinformed.
somehow, I think the anon you answered to is the samefag
who always goes to the China threads
and claims you can make 100k+ usd as English teacher there as well

which is absolute bullshit

no clue why they do this
when you can easily look up common salaries of publicly paid as well as private school teachers
>>
Are you gonna tell us what was so disappointing about it?
>>
>>2804748
I used to admire East Asians but after working with them in America I despise them. I’m pretty sure what makes Singapore suck is because of Asians.
>emotionless, soulless consumers
>everything is about materialism and displaying wealth

I fucking hate them. Their entire identity is what they purchase: clothes, labubu dolls, boba tea, cars, electronics. Fuck Asians. Fuck them all
>>
>>2804879
>soulless consumers
>everything is about materialism and displaying wealth
Isn't that how things are in any modern capitalist society?
>>
>>2804867
>digital nomads: I make 100K a year, haha poorfags
>also digital nomads:where can I go and live on $500 a month long-term?
>>2804879
>stands outside the boba tea shop hitting on every hot girl who walks inside
>wonders why Asian girls disdain him so
Go to Africa if you want to experience the sovlful exuberance of life. And all the materalist showing off too.
>>
>>2804849
You're the ESLfag learn the language before yipping. I said "experienced subject teacher - with an English native passport" meaning you have experience teaching an international curriculum already in a place like USA/UK etc. and yes there are numerous places that will pay out 130k.
>>
>>2804896
>digital nomads: I make 100K a year
usually the ones making 100k+ are expats, not nomads
people in highly specialized jobs that get send by their company
like myself, chemical engineer and went for 4y to Nanjing and later 2y Chengdu

i've met like maybe 5 or 6 digital nomads in my life that actually made over 100k (compared to dozens of expats)
one influencer and the others computer scientists

>also digital nomads:
>where can I go and live on $500 a month long-term?
that's the more typical experience
most DN don't make enough to sustain themselves and stop after a few month

and even the ones that do
usually get by low skill jobs, like working in hospitality / restaurants or really stupendous online work
>>
>>2804903
>and yes there are numerous places that will pay out 130k.
like? examples?

even if I look up the most prestigious private schools in Beijing
they max out at ~700-800k RMB per year for teaching with a PhD and like 10y+ experience
which is ~110k USD at the absolute maximum
entry salaries there are more akin to ~300-400k RMB with a Master degree in Education
>>
>>2804890
If by modern, you mean the 80s. Good to know that in 40 years, Asians won't be easily manipulated slave bugs.

This. KL for me any day, OP is right.

The reverse of this is Thailand and Cambodia. Cambodia is overrated, can’t understand why you’d choose it when Thailand is right there.

Dunno about the 80s, but "soulless consumers" and "everything is about materialism and displaying wealth" sound exactly like the Western world nowadays.

Plenty of westerners living their, doing the Thailand schtick (motorbike adventures, kickboxing etc) that have inexplicably decided Siem Reap is better than, for example, Chiang Mai

"better" or just less visa hassle and cheaper?

KL is a shithole but there's very nice suburbs like Mt Kiara and Damansara heights that anons here don't visit and they're much better value.
That said, even with cash why would anyone spend much time in SG apart from work?

>>
>>2806330

Absolutely delusional if you dont think they aren't up there with east Asians.
The issue with Singapore is there's so many Malays, Indians and other seamonkeys in SG diluting the market that you might mistake them for locals
>>
>>2806330
The bulk of the citizen population is from mainland China. There are Malays and pajeets there both as minority citizenry and in large numbers as temporary migrant workers.
>>
>>2804753
It's funny how sensitive singaporeans get when they're told their country is boring. They immediately assume it means you only want to visit third world dumps.

No. It means we want to see something beyond shopping malls selling the same chain store shit we can buy anywhere on earth.
>>
I grew up in Singapore as an expat and it's a great country if you wanna make money and raise your family, my father worked hard though. I was there from around 11 years old to 17, my bro is still there, I went few years ago when I was 24 and yea if you're looking to party there is so much better than Singapore
drinking is just so expensive, and it's way harder to make any friend or connection. I went to Bangkok for the first time for a few days during my singapore stay and bangkok is just so much better for a guy in his 20s

and expats are incredibly obnoxious, especially the one who are seriously rich (we were amongs the low salary for expat)
good for two or three day but after that you've pretty much seen it all

Just go to Japan or Hong Kong instead.

I have a coworker who went to South Korea a year ago. She was big into K-drama and K-pop. She said it was an absolutely miserable experience. Everyone was racist and unlike Japan where people are polite in person then complain when you leave, Koreans will just treat you with complete disdain to your face. I can't hold it against them I gues they live in a corporate-dystopian hellscape but I don't get why anyone would go to South Korea. My coworker hates Kpop and Kdrama now.
>>
>>2806652
>She said it was an absolutely miserable experience. Everyone was racist
Black or jungle asian?
>>
>>2806387
>he bulk of the citizen population is from mainland China
they are from south china and that was 5 generations ago, they already got plenty of that monkey DNA
>>
>>2806473
>and expats are incredibly obnoxious
meh I actually liked the expat scene in Singapore. no autistic English teachers, no poor sexpats with no life goals or ambitions, everyone is educated, everyone has an interesting story to tell, everyone has a good job. it was a bit elitist but just the right amount.

Funny, considering my experience is a total opposite one. I was expecting everyone to be racist to me since I was a Filipino. But they kept apologizing to me over a minor mistake.

i'm from the uk but i live near kl. these threads always seem so weird to me
singapore is where i go to experience any kind of culture. films, live standup comedy, theatre, live music etc etc
all of those things do exist in malaysia but they are all censored and controlled so much they are pretty much pointless. the fucking muslims ruin everything
people bitch about how singapore is so oppressive etc etc, to me it's much closer to actual freedom than malaysia
>>

A manager on our team went to korea for work. Shes a woman, mid, but thinks shes really attractive because our whole team is men.
Anyway, she tells my korean coworker that she didn't like korea because men talked down to her and it felt like everyone hated women.
Korea must be s fucking utopia
>racists

no international school is paying $100k for a teacher plus housing. the top western branded schools in asia are paying nothing like that. a head teacher of the school is making $70k.

well anything you see online about tourists things to do, you'll have plenty of time to do it. The most famous sport in Singapore is to walk around in malls. Sound lame but malls are amazing there so def just chill around at a mall. We literally did that every other day. It's a tiny place so anything they tell you you should do in some random guide is a good idea.
I recommend eating at Lau Pa Sat at night, a touristy thing to do, but at night they close a road nearby and you can eat a shit ton of satay and drink a ton of beer and it's a good vibe if you're not alone (picrel). And just walk around (or go for a run if you do) you're gonna be sweaty but it's a very clean and beautiful place all around. if you have time def to a long weekend trip to other countries if you've never been
>>
>>2806490
I'm going to do both (2 weeks in Seoul + 1 week in HK) this fall.
>>
>>2806652
>I don't get why anyone would go to South Korea
>they live in a corporate-dystopian hellscape
that's why I go anon, just to see the insane neurotic way they live and the advanced plastic surgery dolls and I like some of the food, but I have unlimited travel time and zero interest in actually living there
>>
>>2806652
>>2807036
>they live in a corporate-dystopian hellscape
when I visited japan and korea last year the japs were much more corporate dystopian, like their whole lives revolve around the autistic rat race. koreans at least have fun outside of work and they never seem to be just speedrunning life like most of the japs are
>>
>>2806872
>The most famous sport in Singapore is to walk around in malls. Sound lame but malls are amazing there so def just chill around at a mall.
I talked to someone irl who grew up in Singapore and got this same answer. I generally find American malls fatiguing (or did when they were more common). What does the Singaporean mall experience have to offer (besides air conditioning)?
>you can eat a shit ton of satay
This appeals to the ameriburger.
>or go for a run if you do
Do I need to know anything to keep myself out of trouble while running around on random streets at early/late hours? I used to be into parkour/urban exploration, which I assume is a bad idea in Singapore, but these days I'm rarely in cities and usually trail run instead. Any etiquette that would be unintuitive from an American perspective or streets/neighborhoods which should be avoided at certain hours?

the Jewel is fantastic and worth a visit but malls in Singapore aren't really amazing. places like Orchard Road or VivoCity are nice but like if you're already living there, not as a tourist destination.
Bangkok has much better and bigger malls that I enjoyed just waddling around

but we have a mall with a giant fucking cartoon lion sphinx thing outside
>>
>>2807852
If you want to save money (but still live really, really well) and are more interested in the training, the food, friendly locals and the adventures, Chiang Mai. Fuck the haters. Awesome place. The mountains will blow you away.
If you wanna go degen and drink a lot, party, fuck bar girls, make friends with other westerners and your training is secondary to that (as well as your wallet) and a beach is important I dunno pick any Thai island
>>
>>2807862
If you come from Europe or USA, any malls in singapore or bangkok is gonna be another world. Malls in Singapore ARE amazing, compared to 90% of the malls in the world. vivocity i can't remember the amount of time i went there to walk around, sit down at a cafe for an hour, walk outside or go to sentosa and end my day on a restaurant terasse. Bangkok malls are honestly pretty comparable to singapore. point is malls there are places you can stay at for almost an entire day if you want and it's not soul draining like what we have in europe
>>
>>2804879

>>2807872
The biggest downside to Chiang Mai is that is it is overrun with smug farang dorkers who are all saving money while living very very well.
>>
>>2804879
You're not wrong, but that's just because there's nothing else to do in Singapore besides go to the malls and buy stupid crap.
>>
>>2810919
So are typical American suburbs. But nobody travels 10000 kilometers to see them because that'd be fucking stupid and they'd be bored out of their minds with nothing to do. Same with Singapore.
>>
>>2812642
There's plenty to eat if you're a fat fuck with a bottomless appetite. There's museums, parks, gardens - everything easily accessible by public transport. There's even a Universal Studios theme park. There's nightlife and hookers. Come on now. None of that shit is found in suburban Omaha.
>>
nah SIN is an awesome destination for a 2-3 night stopover. not if you're poor though...haha faggots. top hotels and restaurants. good clubs, cute girls and places for adult entertainment. drinks are expensive though because of the tax. walking up and down orchard road and people watching was awesome one xmas eve. I've been there about 4 times already and will definitely return.

Sharm El Sheikh

Since we became parents our vacations are usually all inclusive family stuff in resort hotels. We've been twice to Marsa Alam and we heard that Sharm El Sheikh is top resort place for Egypt.

Bull fucking shit.

Footprint of Russian tourists is very apparent, with cyrillic alphabeth everywhere and locals being aggressive and demanding when it goes to tipping etc. On last night my daughter started puking her guts, which never happened anywhere else (from South America to Sub-Saharan Africa).

Thank you for attention. Move along.

They don't have contact points with blacks beside with the few black US GI's stationed there and partying off base/on leave. If you ever encountered a group of soldiers going out you know how they will get drunk as hell and pretty much act like animals (It doesn't matter where they're from, gender or the skin color, even a group of swiss or austrian soldiers will act like a wild pack of baboons) enlisted or officers no difference. The second they leave their base they turn into unhinged idiots that shit up anything they touch.
Guess why they're not into that
