Layover in Istanbul next month for 11 hours
What should I do while i’m over there
>>
Depends on your airport. If it's IST:

Take the metro to Gayrettepe, hop on M2 to Vezneciler and take the T1 tram from Laleli to Sultanahmet to visit the historical sights. Then take the metro back to the airport.

t. Turk anon

If you're flying with Turkish Airlines, sign up for their complimentary Tour Istanbul service.

The Istanbul metro is a stressful, overcrowded rat tunnel. Only one subway every 20 minutes. People start shoving their way onto the cars as soon as the doors open. Young people hog up the priority seats while elderly people stand for the 45 minute ride. Being underground, there isn't jack shit for scenery beyond the occasional pretty girl.

Turks are pleasant to interact with when doing business, but on the metro they forget all about courtesy. I hated Gayrettepe station, you have to walk like half a km through a rat-tunnel maze full of hurrying people to get from the M11 to the M2. As a visitor you will have to shell out 160 lira for a metro card, then top it up with more credit than you need to avoid running out along the way.

If a complimentary tour is not an option, why not ride the HAVAIST bus service instead? Google Maps shows HVIST-11 taking you from the airport straight to Sultanahmet. 275 lira fare...but you get a comfy bus seat, and you get to see the city go by out the window. Much more relaxing.

If you're this sensitive and nitpicky about everything, maybe you should've just stayed home

Why would anyone go to Turkey? It's a bad a place as India.
>>
>>2815065
I've spent 266 days traveling to 130 different foreign cities and towns over the past year. That's more than any of you motherfuckers. The Istanbul metro sucks and is a ripoff for visitors. That is a FACT.

IIRC the touristanbul isn’t available until I actually reach the airport ?

Adorable
>That's more than any of you motherfuckers.
Sure buddy lmao
>>
I second the HAVAIST option, it's what I would do. Take it, see the sights, grab some food/souvenirs and go back

It's one of the biggest resort countries in Europe

Go see for yourself

>I stay an average of two days per locale
You've barely seen any of the places you've been. Total waste of fuel and tickets. What are you even doing.

>What are you even doing.
He's larping. The link he provided doesn't show "130 different cities and towns", it's just a normal tour of a few Eastern Euro countries and SEA.

Words can’t express how little I care about your stupid fucking life man. Go beg for likes somewhere else

nice try

>>2816466
Well a small western part of it is indeed in Europe, but I primarily meant it as "a place where Europeans go"

Filter for the "Intercity Transportation" category to see the list of destinations.

Two nights' stay gives you a full day to walk around and see everything there is to see within walking distance. That's plenty of time for your typical village or small town. Some of you niggas never spend time poring over a map, and it shows. I couldn't care less about recommendations or popularity. I go to places that look interesting on a map. It's a lot more fun and special than being one of ten thousand farang goycattle on Khao San Road.

>8 countries
and we are supposed to be impressed by this?
>>
>>2816691
>three countries in eight months
That's what it takes to travel cheap and see a lot of places that few other people visit.

Riding a bus for twelve hours from the airport to a village in the middle of nowhere is going to feel both pointless and a waste when your itinerary has you flying on to a new country in a week. If you're in a hurry, of course you're gonna want to hit the highlights. Stopping by that village for one night as you make your way town by town through a remote province feels like a journey of exploration.

What does this have to do with the topic of the thread? This isn't your personal blog
>>
>>2814844
I may be in the same situation OP, except it's a 15 hour overnight layover.
Is it feasible to explore the city at night?
>>
>>2818592
Istanbul is lively late into the evening, particularly in summer.
>>
>>2818592
Defo explore the tranny brothels near Taksim.
>>
Not OP, but going to Turkey next month for first time with friends. Istanbul/Cappadocia/Antalya. Easy to get around? Will they steal my shit?
>>
>>2814851
The metro is shit. The airport bus is better in every way. It costs less and takes you faster to the center.
