Best European countries/cities for early December travel?
Solo incel.

It's kind of a shit time to travel unless you're super into Xmas markets, which I am not. The weather sucks. Prices go up. Better to go in February to a ski town. It'll be significantly cheaper. You'll get snow instead of rain. You can ski or snowboard, or just take the gondola up to the top and walk around like a lot of people do. There's also good Apres ski nightlife. You can't go wrong in Chamonix. You fly into Geneva which is a really easy airport with shuttles to Chamonix.

December is a fantastic time to go. The German speaking world has great Christmas markets and you don't have to be "super into them". They are great to walk around, drink gluhwien and eat warm fatty foods. Ski towns go into full swing and all the college age kids are on break with good parties all around.

I particularly enjoyed Vienna and Salzburg when I went in December a few years ago. I don't have a ton of experience with things outside of the German speaking countries.

My gf and I will be visiting Vienna this December. We already made a planner to check out obvious famous locations like Schonbrunn, Belvedere, Hofburg, museums etc. Do you have any suggestions or tips that aren't usually told online about Vienna?

There is a Vienna thread on page 1 rn. Could tell you more than I probably could. I stayed with a friend for 2 weeks and just kind of followed him around.

If you have time , take the 2.5 hour train trip to Graz. Vienna was great but I liked Graz even more. I'd give you recommendations but I think you should just pick a direction and go. It's the kind of city where it's hard to go wrong no matter which direction you choose, as long as you're starting at the city center.

I spent 3 or 4 days in Bergamo in December and it was awesome. The old town is all decorated for Xmas, the weather is cold but not extremely cold, just a super cozy atmosphere. If you want daytrips, you can go anywhere by train super cheap and fast. The new part of town is also really interesting, just a great italian town overall. Most people skip it because it's seen as their low-cost landing spot, but it's definitely worth a few days.

Another one that surprised me was Naples. They also have a huge xmas market, plus it's further down south so the weather will be mild. I visited about 10 years ago, so I'm sure the place has gotten a lot more enriched since then, unfortunately.

I hate the cold & lack of sun in the winter so personally I mostly travel south during winter.
This year I went to Malaga/Cordoba/Sevilla/Cadiz. Which is just perfect, lovely 18/19 Degrees,

I did Malaga and Sevilla just after New Years some years ago, beautiful places and amazing weather. A friend did the southern Portugal coast (Algarve and that area) and the Moroccan coast, made me jealous.

Check out the Donaukanal at night when the canal-side bars open up. And if you're gonna be in that area you might as well take a short ferry cruise down the river and check out Bratislava, if you're feeling really adventurous you can continue cruising down the river for a bit longer and go to Budapest. The total sailing time to hit all 3 cities is about 8 hours but Bratislava is only about an hour or 2 away from Vienna so it's better for a one day side trip than Budapest

true. I was in Santorini for a few days one summer, all on my own. Just walking around, surrounded by all the couples enjoying their time together. I promised I'd go back with a gf eventually. I never did, bros. I never did...
