>currently on holiday for the first time in my adult life
>in Paris
>been to Louvre, Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, plus a few other places
>here for rest of the week
>plan to spend a day at another city by train
>eat at fast food restaurant each day
>zero socializing, eating French cuisine, anything "off the beaten path" or during the evening

Am I doing something wrong or is this how you do it? And is there anything you'd particularly recommend, apart from the obvious destinations?

Is it normal to talk to no one as a solo male (an ugly one) traveller?

Is there anything really worthwhile to eat in terms of food while I'm here or do they have the same stuff in any international city? I don't want to pay 70 Euros for two slices of meat and get looked down upon by a waiter for not speaking French.

I do a lot of walking, but mainly around the centre of Paris. From a box ticking perspective, I am seeing lots of touristy shit. But from a "self enlightenment, eat pray love, I really found myself and connected and so on", there is nothing. But I'm an ugly beta male in my home country, so it's not like anything is different there.

Paris is nice, though. It definitely has not fallen.

I mean what do you want us to say ? thats fukcing stupid

>Is there anything really worthwhile to eat in terms of food while I'm here or do they have the same stuff in any international city? I don't want to pay 70 Euros for two slices of meat and get looked down upon by a waiter for not speaking French.

anon i live in Paris, stop reading what you're reading online and go eat somewhere nice. Literally even a tourist traps in a nice area sitting on a terasse is better than fast food. look 15 mins on google map and read reviews i don't know

>get looked down upon by a waiter for not speaking French.
you're in one of the most visited city in the world, you think waiter gives a shit about you not speaking french ? they probably see more non french speaking ppl than french

>s it normal to talk to no one as a solo male (an ugly one) traveller?
yes if you dont make any effort, thats literally the "hardest' part about solo traveling, its that you have to move your ass to socialise otherwise you can spend weeks saying a maximum of 5 words. that said, i do think as a frog myself that it's hard to approach french people, we tend to be more closed minding imo. but you can still do it, go drink at a bar, go to a reddit meetup (not even kidding) go to a live bar like supersonic and try to talk to people, maybe you'll make 0 conversations, thats how it is sometime if you're solo male

If you're a loser at home, you're still a loser in Paris. Why would you think that would change? If you wanted connection, you should have gone to Thailand and paid for it like the betas and nogs.

OP here. I've now been to all but one of the attractions I was hoping to see and I'm unsure what I'll be doing for most of the rest of my trip. I ate at Burger king today (really yesterday because it's late).

I am increasingly appreciating the layout of the underground stations, with their unused spaces, internal shops, sometimes confusing signs, occasional double tapping requirements, etc. (all in contrast with the London underground). It feels like being in a PS1 game environment, with lots of redundant space. Or like living in the 90s before everything was hollowed out in the physical world.

I haven't actually seen any 10/10 Staceys, just many GigaMids.

The few churches I went to sightsee happened to be during sermons and it was a bit weird for souvenirs to be sold as they were going on.

The insides of fast food restaurants are more run down than the UK and the McDonald's are much quieter, mainly because the worker areas don't have huge amounts of beeping. Maybe that's some sort of labour right.

None of the extremely famous places have been a let down. The Louvre was great. The Mona Lisa is surrounded by paintings that brutally mog it.
>>
>>2818976
Weird question but if you were to go to the supermarket and pick out some stuff to have a picnic in Champ de Mars what would you buy?
>>
Stay at a hostel. Why would locals in a massive city be interested in socializing with you ? They already have social circles with people who speak their language fluently.
>>
>>2818975
>Is it normal to talk to no one as a solo male (an ugly one) traveller?
yeah pretty much. you're supposed to live in a hostel and go on pub crawls or go to clubs or even dating apps to meet people, or at least be somewhat extroverted and attractive. If you don't go out of your way you will indeed be alone, especially as you don't speak French.
Personally solo travelling isn't it for me - I've done enough of it traveling for business at a small company that doesn't put you into 5 star hotels, and I'd much rather be with friends or hot women

France has a lot of beautiful areas to see outside of Paris. I've been in southern France in places like Carcassone, Avignon, Nice and other parts of Provence. Someday I hope to visit Mont-Saint-Michel in Normandy, I don't care if it's seen as touristy or overhyped

baguette, jambon, charcuterie, comté, butter, chips, some type of spread like hummus maybe and wine or beer. depends how hungry you are, what time of day. and what type of sandwich you like
>>
>>2819284
Don't eat fast food in Paris. You can go to any bakery in the city and get a fantastic meal for the same price. Look up "Boulangerie" and "Pâtisserie" near you on google maps. Have you been to Marché couvert? Those Melt deli's are great too if you're on a budget.
>>
OP here. I walked around today until it started raining and then drank Starbucks. I went to book a museum ticket online but it was sold out today.

I think the holiday magic has officially gone.

I'm considering going to another city for a few days.
>>
>>2818975
>is this how you do it?
It depends on what kind of expierence you are looking for. You are free to create the experience you want.
One possibility is just checking boxes on the typical tourist attractions.
You can use apps and hostels to meet other people if you so desire.
You can do what you do at home just in another city, like maybe you enjoy techno parties or cycling at home, then you check that out in Paris. You can do it alone or use apps to find other people.
There is a lot more than the typical tourist stuff but you have to make an effort and kinda know what you are looking for
>>
>>2818975
Its supposed to be for art and history and gourmet lovers.
>>
OP here. I went to two very famous attractions today. I saw a French GigaStacey working as one of those employees sitting in the rooms. And the latter attraction, a museum, seems to be where all of Paris's "le art hoes" gather. There are now no attractions in Paris that I would regret missing.

I went to Starbucks and I'm currently in McDonald's. I couldn't bring myself to go anywhere French. I would feel like an ugly sucker being laughed at.

I randomly decided to go to a different city for two days from tomorrow, leaving very little time in Paris afterwards. I will definitely be very sad to go back home but I feel like I'm "failing" in holidaying somehow. I have erred towards checking off the tourist attractions rather than randomly xploring or anything else but I consciously did this because of my ability to waste time. Yesterday I randomly walked away from the cente of Paris until the streets seemed crappy, which didn't take very long. I've already paid for the train and hotel for the other city but I'm 30% tending towards staying in Paris to try to figure out if there can be some "true spark", but I think that's it.

Maybe I'm looking at the wrong websites but the weather is totally unpredictable here. It keeps saying it'll rain but barely does.

>I would feel like an ugly sucker being laughed at.
You have some personal mental issues here. I do not know you, but thinking like this is typical behavior for social anxiety/phobia. Also you are on 4chan
>feel like I'm "failing" in holidaying somehow.
Failing whom? You tried something new. Now figure oit how you liked it and go from there. I am not a big fan of city vacations. That is fine. Maybe city vacation is not the right thing for you either? Maybe try something else next time?
>weather
Usually there is a probability attached to rain. If it is only 20% chances are you will not see rain. Also there is rain radar showing the next like 2h. I find it to be reliable and use it to plan my runs.
>>
>>2819922
Where are you going next?

This
France has the best bakeries on Earth, and you eat at freakin Amerimutt goyslop chains? So afraid to leave your familiar comforts, it's a guarantee that you're going to have an utterly unremarkable trip.
>>
>>2818975
Dude, just go to a fucking local restaurant/brasserie for lunch and get the prix fixe lunch menu for around 15€. It’s usually quite good. Why the fuck would you go to a fast food restaurant on vacation, particularly in France??
>>
>>2819284
This has got to be trolling.
>>
>>2819974
France has the best pastries and white bread on earth. For all other types of bread, Germany wins hands down.

OP here. I am now in Rome. I was on the fence and almost didn't go even after waking up at 3 am but it seems worth it now.

The French airport departure lounge reminded me of the pictures of the French communist headquarters.

Italian women are really attractive. The city is really attractive. I have seen attractive people smoking cigarettes in both France and Italy, which is novel.

I will both walk around and go to a few tourist attractions. I am leaning towards eating something other than McDonald's (there are barely any other fast food chains). I was going to not drink Starbucks but I read online that it's different in Italy so it seems like it's not an insult.

I have taken many pictures of famous things but almost none with me in them, so I have taken a few selfies in the past few days and was really crushed by embarrassment and cringe. I also look like a slug in the pictures.

The hot and sunny weather, the old (but good looking) buildings, and the intermittent McDonald's signs give the feeling that Italy is an American colony. The McDonald's toilets are free as well, which feels like a mog ("we're providing your infrastructure"). When I was sitting on the plane and seeing the flawless looking Italian flight attendants, the plane moving on time, the immediate disembarkation, it felt very weird to know that Italy is relatively corrupt and dysfunctional compared to a Northern European countries.

This is one of the most elaborate troll threads in years.
Congratulation OP, you nailed the retarded persona, retarded takes, wild incel nonsense with the culinary palate and intelligence of a 6 year old welfare dweller kid.
You might want to compare the cities to disneyland, 6 flags or the historic city of Las Vegas to make it even more retarded but overall I give you a 9.5/10

Well played.

what terrifies me is, that people like him really exist and sometimes I cross path them
>>
still OP here
forgot to say I'm gay
>>
>>2820162

What's trolling about this topic?

I said earlier that I'd eat some actual Italian food but that seems a lot more unlikely right now. The streets are busier and stuffed with normies and I literally can't fathom myself in some restaurant because I'd look out of place. As evening sets in while I walk through a big city, my subhumanity and people's revulsion of me comes to the forefront of my mind. I'll probably eat at McDonald's but maybe I'll have some sort of Italian ice cream and coffee tomorrow.
>>
>>2820162
There was a real thread this week where an autistic guy passionately argued that Gatlinburg Tennessee was a better destination than anywhere in Europe.
>>
OP here. I ate at McDonald's rather than have any Italian food. Then I went to some sort of mini supermarket and the girl at the counter did that thing where she was joking with the prior male customers and then treated me like an unexploded bomb. I don't speak Italian but it seems that ugliness is the universal language.
>>
>>2820273
Seething even in other threads I see. Red states, particularly rural communities, are the most soulful places on planet earth, keep coping troon.
>>
>>2820324
I actually travel a lot in the US. I've lived all over and have family in friends in every corner. About half the states in the US are just terrible. My least favorites have been the red states, with the exception of a few beach towns. Alabama, West Virginia, Ohio, Indiana, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Iowa, Mississippi. The worst places on earth. I don't know how anyone lives in those states.
>>
OP update. I'm intentionally aimlessly walking around Rome right now, in the hot sun.

Last night I went for a late evening 10.30 pm walk to a famous sight but it was crowded as fuck, just like daytime. And everywhere surrounding it was normies in restaurants. If life was a movie, then I would have experienced some sort of mid-00s indie movie magical moment of some sort, but it felt very alienating and grubby. Everything is priced in.

Today I went to an actual Italian cafe and ordered an ice cream and a Cafe Granita, which I thought was coffee but turned out to be some sort of ice cream granules thing, which was ok. I also saw a very famous sight.

I don't dislike Rome but I'm already feeling nostalgia for 2 and 3 days ago in Paris when I was at the "les art hoes" museum and aimlessly walking around in the rain.

I'm not more than a 6/10 in happiness but I'm dreading work next week.
>>
OP here. I went to an actual French restaurant and had meat and sweet crepes, which were pretty good.

I then walked along the Seine while feeling so sad at having to leave to go back to my ugly and boring life. I should have booked more days off work. Paris looks incredible along the river.
>>
>>2818975
What's going on with the strikes in France? I heard they're going to fuck everything up.
>>
>>2821510
I'm heading to Paris from Belgium from like the 23-27. If they're striking, I'm heading down to Dijon and Beaune and do nothing but drink wine all week instead. I'm honestly kind of hoping they are striking. I really want to visit this little city called Semur-en-Auxois.
>>
OP here. I'm back at home. I wish I had booked an additional 6 days on holiday. I have post-holiday depression and that was the first holiday I've been to in my adult life.

My life in the UK is so fucking boring. My life was so idyllic last week. I feel like moving to London to try to compensate for the boredom. My life is so UGLY.

The Paris train station announcement jingle was triggering my emotions in the minutes before the taxi to the airport. I really like how the public places in Paris are more labyrinthine than in the UK.

I remember how in the plane from Paris to Rome, when I first got on, the plane wasn't that crowded so I had no one sitting next to me, and how extremely neat everything was, and how bright it became when there was morning daylight.

This time last week I was walking up the Eiffel Tower. And I had that Eiffel Tower flavour of ice cream on the way down.

Everything is so ugly where I live.
