Honest thoughts on Brisbane, Australia?
>>
My favourite place on earth sar. Hello? Sir? You give me job please? Sir? Permanent residence? Sar? Hello?

i worked there for a bit. i stayed in a serviced apartment right next to the river, in the city centre, on a high floor, so i had a pretty good view over the city and i was working just a few minutes' walk away
overall i liked it. plenty places to eat, nice green areas, walkable etc etc. it seems like a decent place to live
it did not seem to be particularly buzzing with excitement even at weekends but maybe i just wasn't in the right place.
there are lots of chinese people around though

Its fucking horrible but still 10x better than everyone down below. It's more hotter, more Aussies and everyone is an alcoholic fuck. There's barely any jobs however and the housing is getting much worse, thanks to the influx of chinese and indians.

They're flooding it with Indians and Africans and Middle Easterners. It sucks.

brisbane was the best place on earth
the further out you go from the CBD the better, until you reach logan or caboluture

I just left Brisbane, I grew up mostly there. Depends what you’re looking to visit or live - I wouldn’t recommend a long visit, for an outsider there’s not much to do. The CBD is boring, pretty good asian food, getting more and more expensive. Places like West End that used to be worth visiting are now so gentrified that it’s become basically the CBD complete with $12 gelato places etc.
Live music is at quite a low point - many of the good places have all shut down just recently due to hiked up drink prices. There is still Fortitude Valley but theres only so many times you can go to the valley. Most bands hike it to melbourne in due time because brisbane gets too depressing to play in. If you’re a fan of metal or punk though it’s a good spot. The government cracked down hard on venues for covid but not sports games because you can’t bet on music. Gambling is a huge part of the culture as evidenced by pokies on every corner and the huge casino they just put in the center.
I could go on but in general the weather is great (subtropical) and if you’re cashed up it’s still a good place to settle. Public facilities aren’t bad for Australia and it’s mostly very clean. For young people though there’s a reason why everyone leaves.

The density of immigrants has not quite reached critical mass yet. It was a bit of a culture shock to actually see kids of European descent out and about
Been here most the year, having moved up from Smellbourne. My observations:
>Less immigrants but far more feral bogans
>I don't know if crime is actually worse or I'm paying more attention to the news here but there seems to be an awful lot of violent break ins
>Lots of fun hills to drive on. Wish I had an MX-5.
>Weather is fantastic every time the sun is out. Humidity isn't as bad as I thought it would be
>Traffic is fucking awful. Thank fuck I have a short commute. Drivers are less considerate and more stupid
>River is pretty nice
>CBD seemed dead on weekends
>People on average have a sunnier disposition and are more outgoing. Usually friendly but higher propensity to be dickheads too
>They don't know how to build a decent footpath or often enough how to build in the first place

All of Queensland was paradise 20 years ago. Now it's all shit. Immigrants, crime. It's over.

I have pretty good memories of it as a kid. Before I came here I was expecting a bit more of a relaxed country vibe which really doesn't seem to exist anymore but I suppose that's to be expected given its size. Still more laid back than the bigger shitholes.
