Sorry for the hard to read map, don't really know what I'm doing or care to make it look more professional. Don't know how to get the estimated mileage either besides tracking GPS while actually attempting the walk. Also, not shown is that I determined there should be a sidewalk that runs from Blizzard Beach up to Coronado springs which I didn't catch before. So in theory that's all resorts, parks, water parks, shopping district, and mini golfs.

Honestly, this is a step in the right direction for the value resorts. The style chosen for all of them, even Pop Century and AoA let alone the all-stars might be the gaudiest examples of tasteless design ever seen in resort planning.
That shadowbox shit that was on the walls at Pop looked like gentrified trash you would see on the walls of an Applebee's. Fake ass obvious callbacks to vintage stuff from the past but the actual items in them are barely worthy of a garage sale, and are the stereotype ephemeral stuff you expect it to be.
I've had a theory since around the time they built these abominations that they made the value resorts look like shit on purpose, to fool you into thinking the moderate and deluxe resorts are a better value. At least the new style they are going for is streamlined and looks more like the interior of a hotel. They could vastly improve all of them if they dropped the randomness of the IPs being spread out at all the resorts and just themed each one to something more specific. Like just made Pop an entirely Mickey Mouse IP themed resort, and make AoA's sections be actually themed to settings in the movies they're based on instead of everything looking a cheap wallpaper representation of them. And most importantly, just get rid of the giant objects. Why the fuck are there like six resorts with random giant objects all over the fucking place? That shit always looked so terrible its embarrassing and offensive to even see in pictures, let alone when you're staying there.
Actually now that I think about it just bulldoze all the value resorts and build more moderates in their place.

Currently at my third night of HHN, and I have updated my strategy to do everything in one night without Express. Do not listen to anyone else. They are retarded and probably gay.

>Go back to Fallout and Galkn, doing Fallout first.

From there you can either head to Nightmare Fuel or hop in line for Dolls depending on whether you want to do the shows. This way you knock out three of the busiest houses with virtually zero wait. For FNAF, you will have to wait until 1AM or bite the bullet and wait. I'll share my thoughts on the houses some other time, but I will say this is a very strong year with only one bad house (Fallout).

On one hand I agree that the displays were poorly presented and a bit cluttered but I'm not sure just glorified wallpaper is the answer. I guess I prefer that someone has spent some time thinking and putting something together rather than seeing artwork that probably originated as a Jira task for some random artist to do before he was assigned to do posters for 25% off end of season posters for gift shops.

I think Disney are very careful not to risk elevating their value and moderate value resorts too high, hence them having the same sort of design principles (with AoA and Pop Century being the same but done slightly nicer so that along with the skyliner they can justify the price bump over the All Stars). Accidentally make a value resort too well themed and it takes away bookings from the higher margin resorts, make it too shabby and it hurts their reputation.

You'd probably be interested in the overhaul they've just done to the Davy Crockett ranch in Disneyland Paris. They've gone in a lot heavier in the Disney theming and now rather than just woodland cabins with the occasional mickey, it's based on the Junior Woodchucks from Duck Tales and leans heavily into it being one of their campsites. Families even get a Jr Woodchuck survival manual when they check in.

Interestingly it isn't based on old or nu duck tales, it's based off of the French comics so the art style has that modern French comic influence. Actually looks pretty comfy for the cheapest hotel in Paris (stayed there a couple of years ago and it was pretty good, aside from no breakfast buffets, starbucks or park shuttles)

Just came back from a trip to Efteling. The park was comfortably busy, never had to wait longer than 30 minutes for anything.
I haven't been in several years so the new Grand Hotel in the park is there now. I wasn't a fan when they announced it, I figured it was gonna ruin the impact of the main entrance building, but I have to admit they did a great job, it looks beautiful.

The big thing was riding Danse Macabre for the first time (pic related). I avoided all ride footage so I had no idea what to expect other than the general idea of how the ride system works, but it is definitely fantastic. In broad strokes it's like a spinner ride you find in most parks, but souped up, grandiose and everything dialed to 11. It's not necessarily the most thrilling ride, but it is incredibly fun. The fast spins and ups and tilts do a great job selling the "dance" part, and all movements are perfectly in sync with the music, making it feel oddly cinematic. Not sure that's the best word to describe it but whatever. Great ride. The surrounding area is also themed very well. I especially loved the sound design, you always hear things rustling in the bushes around you from all directions, which grow more monstrous sounding the farther you get in the queue.

Other stray observations:
>Fata Morgana is fun, but some of the animatronics need to be fixed up so their necks don't look broken
>Droomvlucht is still more magical than anything Disney has ever made
>Villa Volta is still my favorite for being solid fun for zero wait times usually (and the best music)

There's a significant contingent of people who cannot or will not allow themselves to enjoy a vacation. I don't really think that the micromanaging tourists are that much more present in the Disney sphere than any other expensive tourist destination. People just dump on the Disney planners because it's not as interesting as real cities. If a Disney planner put the same effort into a Tokyo trip for example nobody would care, but because it's put towards a family theme park with rides people scoff.

And for many people, they'd rather overpay to get a "full experience" staying on property than be really value-minded and stay off property. Don't forget early park entry for resort guests which draws in these types of people too.

Siren’s Curse and The Flash are the smoothest coasters I’ve ever ridden. Their newer Disney coasters are also just as smooth as was Dragonflier at Dollywood. Cedar Flags is very pleased with Siren’s Curse and screamscape says they might replace Jaguar at Knott’s with a tilt. SC is fantastic and despite those evacuation videos it’s been one of their most reliable coasters since it opened. I predict that Cedar Flags will build many Vekomas at their parks over the next decade. Probably some clones too. As for B&M, it’s time for them to evolve and I think that they will.

I watch a UK theme park vlogger once in a while, and he organizes an annual trip to US theme parks. It's another park every single day, even after driving 2-5 hours early in the morning to get from one city to another, every day, for more than a week. Non-express autist here. I don't use them, but I can definitely tell they get big priority, at least in some lines. I imagine a mix of good strategy with Express would result in a piss-easy night, but I also imagine that many Express users just say, "fuck it," to strategy and end up with long waits regardless (albeit still shorter than someone without Express or strategy). B&M were the kings of the industry from the first Batman invert until pretty recently. You could even make a decent argument that they're still the heavyweight coaster builder in the US.

I wonder what RMC's future is like, they were on fire for a while but I don't hear much about their new installations anymore. They could be doing a bunch of business overseas for all I know. But they do the actual fabrication in-house which contributed to Arrow's financial woes later in their history.

B&M was the best in the 90s. Their inverts were the best and Kumba was so ahead of its time and made Arrow obsolete. They were still supreme in the 2000s but Intamin rose and started to overshadow them. Their hypers are great and Fury is still one of the best coasters. They make high capacity and reliable crowd pleasers which is why parks love them, however, there are more than enough B&Ms in existence and they will quickly fall behind unless they evolve. Cedar Flags is still working with them but after that giga dive opens I think they’ll start spamming Vekomas throughout the top 15 parks. So this is weird: Disney have built a test drop for the Lion King Ride. I've never seen this done for a water ride at any park (log flumes are very tried and tested) and they didn't do it for Frozen.

Legitimately one of the best houses ever at the event. Incredible set pieces, huge amounts of detail, creative costumes, good scares, a tragic story.

A solid house that probably could have been in a tent rather than a soundstage. Some neat, albeit repetitive, monsters and cool sets. The story is incomprehensible though.

A fun little house that does well playing with scale. Very high variety in costumes and some funny gags. No real wow moment though.

This house really should have been in a soundstage. Some setlieces scream for more space. It's still good though, with some cool costumes and an awesome finale.

My second favorite house of the night. I love the Wild West setting, and the demons are pretty cool. Less family than I expected, which is nice. Really makes good use of it's limited space.

That said, there's not much interesting in terms of set design outside of the intro, and the non-animatronic scares are pretty lame. Going through this with wimps around you will be the highlight of the night, but if the others around you don't scare easily, it won't leave a huge impression. Also needed more part 2 Jason.

Not a franchise that appeals to me, but the house was fun. The Art actors do a good job embodying the character, and there are some clever scares. The sets aren't going to wow you, but the house is long. The wet/dry thing is a total gimmick.

Dogshit. Imagine a house with deathclaws, supermutants, bloatflies, cazadores, ghouls, and yao guai. Now throw that all in the garbage because this based on the gay-ass TV show which has none of those (except ghouls but they still don't show up lol). 90% of the jumpscares are just normal fucking humans saying some retarded catchphrase. The sets are bad. The power armor puppet is hilariously awful in terms of movement. Probably the second worst house I've ever seen at HHN.

Overall, this is a really solid year. Every house is at least good, with several greats. Only Fallout is a blemish.

I'm debating whether or not I should do Jason as my first house. I've noticed when I do HHN only the first 3 houses really startle me and once I'm adapted none of the scares really register for me. We have different approaches to this.
This is not asking for the lowest rung accommodations you are making it sound, like the value resorts are not the same as going to a hostel or Shithole Motel. You have a base level of standards at a Disney resort, there are too many benefits staying at a resort for me to decide elsewhere. That is already spending up as you can get off-site cheaper.
This then becomes a debate on what you are doing bothering to travel there. If your entire vacation is around staying at a hotel, sure, make that your main expense. There are places where you are staying at the hotel for close to the entire time and going back to that might be. For Disney? You are there for the parks and experiences, not to sit at a hotel the entire week. I would much rather pay up for the better experiences, dining, and even longer experiences vs having frivolous bullshit you won't use, which after a certain point that is what amenities are.

The last coaster B&M made that wasn’t a family coaster, wing coaster, surf coaster, or dive coaster was Decepticoaster in 2021 which is a clone of Hulk with modifications to some of the inversions to make them less intense. Then Monster at Grona Lund in the same year, their latest non-family invert. Their latest hypers came the year before with Candymonium and Orion (Orion being a giga.. to those counting the 300ft drop) which have no inversions. They haven’t made a generic loop short layout non-wing coaster in over a decade, they’ve been primarily pooping out dive coasters during the last ten years.

I stayed in Odaiba at the Ariake Washington. It was only $50 a night for a nice enough accomodation with a complimentary shuttle to the parks. Did one day at Land and two at Sea. I think Land is worth it unless you're pressed for time. It's got a lot of shared attractions with MK, but they are generally better versions. Sea is definitely a better use of your time though. Amazing park.

Crowds were rough, but waits honestly weren't too bad. Everything got really long waits at times, but also would drop to 45 or lower. The two longest waits at that time were also Soarin' and Midway Mania, which are both skippable. Another noteworthy thing is that Indy has the best Single Rider line of all time. You can have a 60 minute normal queue and just walk on in Single Rider. I personally recommend two days at the park so you can take your time and explore all the neat little corners around, but if you only have one day, you can still probably do most rides you want. Not sure about Fantasy Springs though, as that was in tech rehearsal at the time and I used timed passes to get on the rides.

Today was an awesome day at Hollywood Studios. The sky was overcast so the heat was never a big problem. We rode everything, didn't stay for Fantasmic because we're going to get up early again tomorrow and pushing ourselves to stay from morning until close would've tuckered us out too much. We're going to catch Fantasmic later in the week on one of our days where we spend a half day and come back to the hotel for a while, and we'll go back out and catch that show. But if we were only here for one day and could sleep in tomorrow, we really had enough stamina to make ourselves stay all the way until park close, which is pretty wild for us. Not having the sun beating down on you helps a lot.

I'm of the opinion that making Hogwarts just be the queue for FJ was a mistake and given that 90% of the potter story takes place in the castle, the castle should have been the entire land. It should be one gigantic mall-like structure that is the size of one of the IOA islands that fully fleshes out the interior of hogwarts. You could do demonstrations in the classrooms of wizard bullshit, the VR broom simulator they were developing, a FJ clone, etc. You just breeze through the queue now since the lines for the ride are so low and it feels like an obvious goldmine they cant mine.

Those layouts are all intense even today. They used a lot of the same elements but when you say generic it implies they were standard. B&M inverts are still great today and their closest “competitor” was the Vekoma SLC which was the same basic cloned layout (some had a helix). The Batman invert layout was cloned several times but most of the others are unique.

That’s a lot of coasters. Don’t sit on the dark rides though. Knoebels has the haunted house and Black Diamond. Hershey has an enclosed coaster with dark ride elements, Laff Trakk and also the factory ride at Chocolate World (outside the park). Great Adventure has Justice League which is a nice rip off of Spiderman, Dari Knight is an enclosed mouse with dark ride elements, and Houdini is amazing. Kings Dominion has Boo Blasters.. I enjoy it. Epic is self explanatory. If these are open, it’s the post-season for regional parks so who knows.

I’ve ridden both several times. TT2 is better than TTD. The only part of the original acceleration that mattered was the initial “gut punch” which you can also still get on Storm Runner and Xcelerator. They accelerate from 0 at the same rate as TTD. And the anticipation of that gut punch which made a lot of people nervous. But like other launches you got used to the gut punch after a few rides and it not longer was a gut punch (but it was of course still really fun). Going backwards at 101mph up and down the spike and then getting a boost to 120mph is a much better ride experience than the original. Especially in the front row if you’re lucky to get it. I always used to enjoy watching it fly down the launch track and up the top hat and now’s it’s even more fun to watch it fly up and down the spike then fly forward up the top hat. TT2 does sometimes have a vibration issue toward the back. I dunno what causes it because I’ve ridden the same seat in the same color train on different days and it barely vibrated the second time. Front row doesn’t vibrate but you can hear the fiberglass shell against the air resistance

Unless they have metal detectors, a phone is considered “secure” if it’s in a zipper or cargo pocket. Most people just put it in their pocket and nobody checks it. Unless Knott’s is different. The three Cedar Point coasters with metal detectors have free small lockers for phones and keys and what not. If Knott’s has metal detectors and paid lockers I don’t expect that to last very long. It makes it an up charge attraction

They accelerate at the same rate from 0 but TTD and Ka kept going down their longer launch tracks. The initial gut punch or kick from 0 is the same on all of them but some thoosies like to claim one of them is the best over the others. You definitely felt the sense of speed from continuing to accelerate on the sratas but now you’re feeling the sense of speed 100+ mph for much longer on TT2. It the gut punch that is missed, not so much the continued acceleration.

Stealth’s on paper stats are definitely wrong. On the ride forces database, Stealth’s longitudinal forces show that it accelerates slower than Xcelerator, Storm Runner, Ka, Dragster, and Maxx Force plus it peaks just under 2 Gs while Xcelerator and Storm Runner peak at (and slightly over) 2 Gs. The graph for Xcelerator and Storm Runner show they accelerate slightly faster than Ka or Dragster and Storm Runner is similar if not a teeny tiny bit better. As an Indiana Jones fan I'm happy they're giving him a ride in Animal Kingdom, I don't give a fuck what all the fags say about it "not fitting". I don't have any ill will towards Dinosaurbros though. It's a nice ride as it is.

But the show in Hollywood studios is really rough nowadays. I don't know if it was just an off-day or something but they didn't even properly use the cairo set last time I saw it. They just did a bunch of mildly impressive acrobatics on the floormat. Also, am I crazy? I thought I remembered that at the very beginning, Indy would crash in from way up above on a rope.
Personally, I'd nix the multi-set thing and make just one really detailed static set. Cut out all the cringe dated fake filmmaking parts. I know that people may argue that this show is one of the last remnants of classic Hollywood Studios, but I'd rather it be good and increase its longevity than it be true to something that doesn't exist anymore.

Right now or during the summer? The location can’t be beat no matter the season but I don’t know if it’s $200 extra a night great to you. For me it can be and it absolutely is during the summer because of the beach. Thoosies don’t care about the beach though. Or the pools (pools are closed for the season). Or the Starbucks and chain restaurants. So it’s just a hotel connected to Cedar Point with similar rooms to Express. But being able to just walk into Cedar Point is pretty great and saves you from walking to your car and waiting to leave. Not an issue if you leave early but if you leave when they close it could take you an hour or more to get out depending on where you’re stuck.

Once you’re out of the causeway it’s fine. The Express hotel is right at the entrance to the causeway. It’s getting out that’s the problem. As I said above, if you leave on a busy day when the park closes (like during Halloweekends) you can get stuck getting out of the lot depending on where you’re parked. Sometimes for up to two hours if you’re really unlucky. Being able to just walk to your room (a shorter walk than walking to the lot) is the best perk.
