Why do people praise swiss mowed gras and barns so much?

It's like if Appalachia actually got their shit together - but - more expensive as a result.
There's all these abandoned fire towers in Appalachia and I always wonder why you would just LEAVE something built 50-100 years ago instead of replacing it, they aren't that complex of a structure and it would really draw visitors.
The only conclusion I can get is that they don't want visitors. And often the best views are enjoyed only by the houses set on the hills and can't even be seen from the road let alone getting a proper place to pull over and even if there ARE views they tend to be overgrown. It's such a weird place when you realize Switzerland exists and has similar mountains but far more developed.

As an American the idea of anywhere in Switzerland being "Rural" is kind of funny. There are places with lower population density but absolutely not rural.

The whole country is so extremely well connected with objectively the best infrastructure on the planet. I think people enjoy it because it's a mix of natural beauty and the comfort of civilization around every corner.

America has large swaths of land that are just as equally beautiful if not more but there is nothing around for 300 miles expect a gas station and a sundown town.

sorry if that was unclear, I meant to compare my impression of Switzerland vs American Appalachia in that they are both mountainous regions but Switzerland has a much more developed and refined infrastructure for tourism.
