I did the Grand Canyon railroad as a kid. It was so boring going through a completely featureless landscape that by the time we'd got to the Grand Canyon, we couldn't really enjoy it and spent ages in a store looking for something to read on the way back.The guidebook thing for the train had a points of interest bit that was literally stuff like "45 minutes in at mile 42, you'll see some power lines".
