What the fuck is going on? The hotel I used to stay at, 5-star luxury hotel, used to cost $250 a night on the absolute worst days. Yesterday I looked at the prices for booking 5 nights and was met by $7500. That's right. That's a fucking 6X in price.
I looked at other dates and the lowest I could find was $500 a night. I haven't been in that hotel since the spring of last year.

Is there something going on with the hotel market or is it just the market of my country (northern Europe) that's booming?

I should add, I looked at the prices of all hotels in the area and nearby, and they were all at $500 a night, not just that particular hotel.
Marriott. Hilton. Radisson. Other big brands, they are all $500 a night whereas last year they were at $200 and were considered expensive. $500 is just ludicrous.

So? Go abroad

Don't want to pack. I just don't want to sleep at home for a few nights. I used to spend a night at that hotel and eat a nice meal every few months over the past 5 years.
I now can't stay at any hotel in that area, way too expensive.

Buy No Pay Later going global
Hotels want the Migrant rent prices from the money printers
Hotels are stuck paying off the debt from buying hotel chains that went under

Finally, Europe is doing the most retarded shit imaginable by their aparthotels/apartment hotels. Like seriously, virtually all hotels I've stayed in had some apartment setup attached to a few floors or short term rental properties. Driving the amount of rooms available down, giving them a secure paycheck for bills/wages/OpEx; and then they gouge the rest of the rooms.

Just dump her bro
>>

It's just one hotel. The rest of the market is up maybe slightly this year, definitely not 6X.

Kek is this a thing??? I will just need a change

>first time traveller a few months ago
>Need to get a hotel, expect prices for a European tourist destination city would cost even more than the shitty $300~ a night 3-star Marriotts and Hyatts in my city
>A 4-5 star hotel was actually as low as 100-200 a night

Hotels in Europe are cheaper than in the US.
>>
It's called supply and demand, applies worldwide in any market.

>Marriott. Hilton. Radisson
None of those are high-end or aspirational, just normal hotels for normal travelers. If you think that's expensive, you're just poor (and from a shithole)

Visiting Lithuania I was very disappointed in how cramped and inadequate the rooms were at the $40/night price point. Yes, prices have soared in recent years.

India has also seen huge hotel price hikes recently. Bengalaru tops the list of world cities with the highest expected price increase for 2025. Chiang Mai also came in #8 on the list of cities seeing hotel price hikes for 2024, IIRC.

Top 5% of travel spending is not "normal". You should try getting out of your privilege bubble sometimes.
>>

I used to do one or two night stay cations with my wife every few months downtown. Pre covid is was maybe $250 a night at the JW or Hyatt. Since then I can't get a room for less than $600 now. Fuck that. Two nights there is as much as my mortgage. These idiots are pricing themselves out of business. Not to mention the prices they charge for drinks now. I might as well drink at the airport.
>>
>>2822487
Hard to say. Just booked some rooms in Berlin and they were just as expensive as downtown Chicago.
>>
>>2823185
They're filtering poorfags like you, who make a mere $250 per day at your job.

That's a menial skilled labor wage where I live.
>>
>>2823214
Paying $1500 for a normal hotel is a rip-off. Doesn't matter how rich you are, you're still retarded.
>>
>>2823237
Show me a city where a normal room costs that much. Even Manhattan has highly rated hotels for $200 per night. Are you trying to book during a major expo or convention by any chance?
>>
>>2826434
You can't get a normal room in Manhattan for $200. If they advertise $200, it means it's either a shitty hostel or they'll tack on another $200 in hidden fees.
>>
If you can't afford Āman you are a pleb
>>
>>2826506
Of course the cheap rooms will be small. It's Manhattan. 29K people per square km. Compare to Bangkok with 5300 people per square km.
>>
>>2827101
A hostel is not a room.
>>
>>2827112
Shared bathroom != hostel
