Im staying in Chicago for the next 5 days. Loop and Magnificent Mile areas. Ive already gone to Logan Square and found it to be a cool neighborhood with good food.

Give me recommendations OTHER THAN THE FUCKING BEAN and the museum, obviously im going to the art museum.

Pic is from yesterday
>>
Only the Art Museum? Field Museum and Science and Industry are both good too.

I never been to chicago but I've checked it out on google maps
Medieval Torture Museum looks cool
Chicago Sports Museum looks cool if you are into sports and is free if you eat at Harry Carays
Cloud Gate is a cool bean

thrift shops and restaurants in wicker park

I walked 15 miles today, you fuckers lied, Chicago is great. Au Cheval probably was the best burger ive ever had, but at this point I was so drunk and full that I almost puked. The next few days are going to be great.

>Chicago is great
It is. Eat, drink, have a blast. Hit up Aviary in the West Loop if you can get a reservation...best cocktails in the world. Other incredible bars include the Green Mill (Capone's old joint), California Clipper, and a hidden mescal/tequila bar called Ositos Tap.
Good job with Au Cheval.

That was my favorite city of all time, I even met literal homeless and they were cool except one but some friendly cop rushed over because it was mommy and son and dispensed some possibly extra-legal justice. When Mayor Daly was boss damn things got fuckin DONE. The Black Mayor and its consequences has doomed Chicago. Not sure if this board bans racism so I say I am sure some intelligent Black capital B will rescue Chicago indeed :)

I've never been to a major city before in my life. If I go to Chicago will I get turned away from businesses for being white? I have a friend who was in NYC a few months ago and a bouncer told him to "fuck off whitey we don't want you here." It wasn't even in a predominantly black neighborhood lol.
>>

No, it's not that blatant, unless maybe you're deep in the South Side but realistically you'd have no reason to be in a neighborhood like that.

What you *do* see sometimes is they'll only ask White people to tip at counter service restaurants.

Like, they'll hand you a receipt and say they need a signature. The receipt has suggested tip amounts with boxes you can check. No one else gets asked to "sign a receipt," the cashier has the option to print or not print one with every transaction.

It's not because they hate you though, it's just because they assume you have money. Nothing bad will happen if you don't tip.

>Days 1-3: Forest Park and Northern Indiana
I had some business to tend to so I was just across the border in Northern Indiana for much of the first couple days.
We decided to go to Indiana Dunes State Park since it seemed to be the only thing around there and we were not disappointed. Lake Michigan was a lot warmer than the Pacific and it was impressive to see the skyline so far away across the lake. Indiana was lush and green, but definitely very plain, the stretch we visited. Drinking some beers at the little restaurant on the beach was a nice highlight to an otherwise uneventful 3 days. These were the only days I rented a car, as I had no desire to drive with Chicago people. The driving is horrible, the highways are undersized and have weird, inefficient merges and drivers are very aggressive. Abandoning the car after this saved me numerous headaches, as well as hours of sitting in traffic and over 350 dollars in hotel parking fees. When I called ahead I learned that the hotels wanted 60-70 dollars per night to park the car. Fuck. That. It was trains and walking from here on out.

On Forest Park, it is a nice little area, the main street is nice, the homes are elegant and well kept. I didnt spend a lot of time here other than sleeping or driving through, but it, and the adjacent area was nice enough. I ate a hot dog at picrel during my stay there, the only real memorable thing I ate during this stretch, but that was about to change.

I'm black and this is a factual statement. The mayor fucking sucks. he should be the last of the terrible woke leadership.

Rat race drivers are standard in every American city. You're much more likely to get pulled over in the rural counties, where the police have nothing better to do but sit on the median watching interstate traffic. Cities are a free-for-all. You can drive as recklessly as you want and get away with it.

Never been to Chicago myself, decided to skip it this November and fly directly from Denver to Raleigh instead of taking Amtrak through Chicago and spending a night downtown. Not only was the flight half the price of the train ticket, but it cut the travel time from 40+ hours down to 4 hours. After spending two nights in downtown LA in 2023, I simply don't see the sense in visiting an American city as a small town poorfag. Everything is taxed to hell, and in exchange for being a good tourist paypig you get to see firsthand the demographic degradation of America, as well as the rapidly ballooning gap between the owning class and the working class. The worst of the national character is on display in the big cities.

I just flew back from Chicago yesterday. That city seems to be stuck in "vote blue no matter who" mode. I've never seen so many trannies and stuck up liberal women in my life. Very fun city though. I love the blues joints. Homeless were annoying as hell.

Edgewater has to have more trannies than any place on earth, it's actually insane

What's there to do in Chicago besides eating and drinking?

Chicago is S tier globally for food.

>yooo i was sooooooo drunk!
Yeah no shit, everything is great when you're drunk, if you aren't judging things sober you aren't judging them properly

Comedy, theater, jazz, blues, art galleries...everywhere you look. And its affordable.

I’ve been thinking recently about moving to Chicago bros. Should I do it? It’s either that or Seattle.

You clearly have never been to Seattle or Portland. Both have Chicago beat by a mile in those categories.

no business in america is turning down rich whitey dollars

yes, but only if you can tolerate harsh winters
and long drives to be in the mountains

You're not black

Anyway my weekend tour for friends was always Au Cheval, Art of Pizza (or Giordano's if there wasn't time to travel), and a chicago dog from Portillo's.

The Mexican food is universally bad outside of Pilsen
>>
>>2832378
The reason people outside of Chicago don't think of it as a food city is because most of the meals under $40 are mediocre to bad.

Italian Beefs are just a shittier wet version of a cheese steak.

Chicago dogs are the best possible version of a hot dog, but a sausage with just onions and mustard is better.

Harold's might be the worst fried chicken in the country, and no it isn't better on the south side.

The one cheap culinary achievement of the city, deep dish, Chicagoans like to pretend that one of the worst styles of pizza in the country, thin crust, is actually better.

You can get some of the best food in the world in Chicago but you're going to be paying a decent amount for it and probably need a reservation.
