Don't do the education visa as now you can get the DTV visa for muay thai which is a lot cheaper and less strict. From what I've seen, it should cost less than 30K baht total.
As for gyms, don't pay for a program upfront before trying it out first. There's a huge difference between the quality of the trainers in different gyms. You want a gym that pushes you while spending time to perfect your technique.
At first, I tried two gyms in BKK where the prices were 500 for a group class (very few people train during the day anyway, so it's basically private) and 800 for a proper private lesson, they were only so and so and I wasn't satisfied. Then I went to a gym in Chiang Mai and I got private classes for only 400 baht per hour with quality trainers that pushed me to my limits.
just get the visa service seperate and then find a gym that you like. The easiest way to do it I guess, is to go to one of those famous huge gyms that are internationally known and they have fully worked out programs, but I don't like those places because they have a corporate feel to them since they cater so much to farangs and I don't want to be around the farangs that are atracted to that style.

Idk I have no experience at all and it's probably going to be different since you are a foreigner, but here is what I know about how it is for Thai people (girlfriends):
6 days per week, 9 hours per day and almost no vacation days. They work long days but are super inefficient, i.e. most of the time they just have actually nothing to do or they have tasks but they are ordered to do them in the most backward way possible and your sugestions for streamlining the process will not be appreciated since you talking that way to your superior will result in them losing face, and the hierarchy is very important in thai corporations.
Also, at almost all jobs, they apply a 'probation period' to your salary. This means that for a period when you just get started, you don't recieve a full salary yet, you only get like 60-70% of the standard. This period can range from 1 to 3 months, and no, you don't get compensated for that reduction in salary when it's over. The logic behind this, is that in the beginning, you have to learn your job first so you would get less actual work done. In my opinion it's just a way for employers to scam the workers out of their salary because even if the job is something trivial that can be mastered in a day or two, they will still keep the probation period for a whole month just so they have to pay them less.
This system also makes it a pain in the ass for switching jobs, as you always have to deal with the probation period, even at good jobs. This allows employers to get away with treating their workers as slaves.

I'm heading to Bangkok in January. 3 week trip. Taking my dad with me to get his teeth fixed. Meanwhile I'm going to sample all the delights. Anyone been very recently? What's the go with weed lately? It seems easy enough to get a prescription. I've got a private villa with a gazebo and a pool to smoke next to, but if I'm out on the town- does anybody know some places that let you smoke inside on premises? Preferably with some snooker tables. I want to play 8-ball and smoke up.
