Old age jokes settle it. There can be no delusions of having more time. Aging is always a hard hit and aging cannot be stopped.

It's over unc. Stay in your wage cage. Land of the free is your cell.

Solo travel is overrated. It's basically just you, drunk and alone in different places. It works better for Chad or Stacey because everyone wants to fuck them wherever they go.

Find a wife, have some kids, take them on a cruise or go to Disneyland or something. Go to SEA for the temples when you retire.

It's sad to realize there are anons older than my dad on some anonymous board posting pathetic shit like this. Why didn't you do this earlier? I spent 6 months working saving every penny so I could travel to Japan, and I just barely turned 20. Waiting your whole life to live, then being filled with regrets.

I make plenty of friends traveling alone, sounds like a (You) issue? Need to find expat and nomad groups before you go in many places, they don't give a shit you're a blow-in, it's someone different to the usual crowd
>>
>>2831380
Not him but...

I also started traveling to Asia at 20, but it's different when you're a troubled anxious kid fresh out of American suburbia and a dysfunctional abusive family.
I have regrets because I didn't have my shit together to some basic degree back then with lots of psychological baggage. I wanted to get things together but didn't know how and no one would teach or help me. I never had a stable, safe, private, comfortable place to live until I was 30.
Now I'm almost 40 and finally have shit pretty solid together, at least financially, but it's still not the same at all.

You really need to be born into a fortunate position to travel well when you're that young. Or at least not in a total shit position from other peoples bullshit. Being mental from bad environments and anxious takes a lot of time to fix.

there's literally a 0% chance you will score a girl like that when traveling if you are 30+ unless there's money changing hands.

what kind of expectations do you guys have for travelling? unless you live in a third world shithole you can go across country by bicycle in summer basically for free (you can even rent out your place in that time). vagrant holiday gave some useful tips where to sleep (I explicitly mentioned bicycle because travelling by airplane and then train within the country like he did is more expensive than just renting or buying some used bike at destination). most could afford that on social benefits, no need to work at all. if that is too hardcore, consider a slightly higher budget, take a car, anything the size of a sedan or bigger and sleep in there.

but if "travelling" is just another word for prostitutes and drinking (hence saving money), just say so, it has nothing to do with going to new places, with adventure.
>>
>>2834613
Based and true. There are too many failed normies on this board and not enough eccentric travelers.
>>
>>2834613
I enjoy experiencing other cultures, cuisines, architectures. Just wandering around a city that's completely foreign to yours is pretty fun. If I just want to see a nice lake or mountain then sure I can find that within driving distance, but that is only a fraction of the experiences that travel brings you.

I hate that this is true, but my euro trip I was dead broke with a maxxed out credit card. I met a thick blonde Argentinian I was 23 iirc and she was like 31, she nursed my ego and my loins for a few days. Some rando slavs smoked me out because they felt bad that I got scammed by some nigerian selling shit weed, I made friends with an ameriboo french dude who was taking his harley to the northern most point in scandinavia after crashing out from working as a lawyer. He wouldn't shut up about how much he loves brown pussy. You can't plan that kind of shit. I get some money and try again? It's entirely forgettable.

32 years old with 3 kids now and that was like 10 years ago. I'm pretty lame, but I'm glad I got my one retard adventure. I'm finally getting another real vacation soon and probably my last for a while. This time compensating by getting 5 star hotels and business class because I can afford it, I just can't afford the time I'd actually want.
>>
>>2834358
Fatalism is based. A true fatalist doesn't rage against his fate, he accepts it and makes the best of it. My dick is deformed and it makes sex both difficult and unsatisfying. So be it. I can live without sex and all the pitfalls associated with it, even if it means a life mostly devoid of exciting moments.
>>2834790
Heightened environmental awareness is something good to practice anywhere, even if it is a place you have spent much time in. Don't use familiarity as an excuse to be an NPC mindlessly going through your programmed routine.
>>2834029
You can still choose to be stupid even when you're old & experienced. I've met many oldfags who still knew how to be young, how to drink too much and say shocking impulsive things and drive recklessly and assume everyone is a friend.
>>2831461
You've never had the experience of living with a bunch of misfits, coming out of your shell and getting rowdy every night? Shit. Yeah it's all gonna break down and get ugly at some point, but while it's fun, you might as well roll with it and not give a thought to the future.
>>
>>2824719
imo depending on the person you become too old for party hostels in Asia a little after 30. But hostels everywhere else have lots of older people. What exactly are people too old for here? Disneyland? You’re not too old to switch your job/take time off either. Self limiting beliefs.
>>
>>2835134
>and makes the best of it
That's good and not the crabs-in-a-bucket blackpill wallowing I was describing. Cultivating a healthy mentality and maximizing your situation is self-improvement.
>>
>>2824719
You see 75-80 year old couples traveling all over the place and having a good time. They would probably be thrilled to wake up as their 40-45 year old self and have all that money and time to do whatever they want like you do. Think about it.
>>
>>2824719
Dude I ran into an 84 year old woman that was traveling solo in France. Stop deluding yourself into thinking you're too old to have fun
>>

>You've never had the experience of living with a bunch of misfits, coming out of your shell and getting rowdy every night? Shit. Yeah it's all gonna break down and get ugly at some point, but while it's fun, you might as well roll with it and not give a thought to the future.
Nope. I always hated people like that because that's more like what everyone around me seemed to be including my family. If they/we had problems people just seem to ignore it and do something else to distract themselves and not solve problems, then take their frustrations out on those around them. And I was often times the whipping boy and/or had to deal with the fallout of their choices in life and then how they want to treat me. I ended up being very anxious and avoidant.
>and not give a thought to the future.
Especially this part. I remember being anxious about the future in ways ever since I was a child. I've literally never been relaxed and felt good about my surroundings and life in general.
I was the one who was different and tried to plan and work to improve my lot but was never really appreciated or understood and even had people thwarting my efforts or fucking with me along the way like it's just funny. Ridiculous.
"Relax and have fun" while being entirely present and just in the moment is something I STILL struggle with.

Blah blah blah whatever.
I keep writing a lot more but then deleting it. I think I should write this in my journal and not here.

im not too sure how to respond to this. but I'm 40 now, and I've done the whole travelling thing earlier in my life, so much so that I'm over it. there's barely any place in the world right now that I'm dying to visit. during my time off, I'd rather stay home, chill, watch the cricket and smoke meth.

> experience different cultures
it's a fucking meme...unless you plan on living there

if youre 40 already, there's no way to claw back the type of travelling you would have done in your 20's. I mean, you can still go to places you want to visit, but just dont be staying in a hostel, hoping to party with 22 yr old sluts.
>>
>>2835421
samefag here

there's still some reasons I would like to travel though. i would like to visit the pyramids, but would like not to interact with any gypos. but the main reason i still travel is to get business and first class seats. I went to Jakarta earlier this year on business class, and johanesburg on first, i had no reason to go to those places other than the premium seats I was able to get.

i don't travel to fuck whores...anymore. I can just fuck whores at home in my comfort zone where i can be the true degenerate i am. I still do fuck whores when travelling though, its just not the reason i travel...anymore.

i blew my load inside a whore in jakarta, and in joburg i paid a nigga to stick her tongue in my asshole. i was so scared that she would rob my stuff
>>

Nah I did this and was too anxious, uncertain for the future, and depressed. Also missed out on some things because I didn't have enough money. Held back a lot because I didn't want to spend the little I had left towards the end.

Having money is comfy and smooths out whatever troubles come.
>place sucks? Move
>price bracket consistently shit? Increase nightly costs
>dating is uninteresting or awkward? Break the ice with their hourly rate
>get scammed a bit? The cost of the lesson is minor. Zero stress
>don't want to leave? Just stay
>tired of this fucking dump? Buying a plane ticket
Etc etc

Some decent memories of hitchhiking and camping in cities with a friend though when we were almost completely broke and had to eat at charity kitchens.
But even that was a big period of regret for me because I did that instead of staying in Asia because... You guessed it. Running out of money.
>>
>>2836486
The existential dread and the "fuck I'm old my life is over" thinking is literally a binary switch in your brain. It could hit you when you hit 30, it could be at 35, it could be when you're 52. Just keep on keeping on, you're only too old when you let those intrusive thoughts win.

(Unless you're balding)

I'm flying to Vietnam in two weeks. From there the plan is to get to Singapore for the flight back home. Havent got much planned but I'm optimistic.
The first and only time I've been in SEA was when I was 23. Thailand and Cambodia. And that was 13 years ago lmao. Cant lie, this trip is to brush off the midlife crisis a little bit and possibly to find some company. Didnt do whores, drugs, shady shit young, propably wont do them now. Meeting people always seemed pretty easy there. You get a lot of energy just from being active all day every day, seeing new shit and relaxing in your own pace. And what I remember there were plenty people around their 30's backpacking. And even if the place is disneyland for twenty-year-old teenagers(like I remember), you can do my own thing. Like check what the locals are doing. There're quite many of them.

Dont fucking give up you homos. Especially if you're single and have a steady job. What's stopping you?

No nigger, I’m a licensed engineer and have a sick wfh job. But I’m pretty sure you’re too lazy and/or stupid to put in 8+ years in schooling and grinding at some entry level job to hit middle career and reap the benefits. Like all zoomers you want some quick and easy “bootcamp” or certificate you can bang out in a month and expect a wfh job to get dropped in your lap. It’s not 2010, that ship has sailed.
>>
>>2838761
I'm fine with it taking 3-6 months as long as it's guaranteed.
>>
>>2838766
Yeah that’s the thing man, it isn’t guaranteed. It’s 2025 post kung flu. Realistically your gonna have to grind some shit cubicle monkey job for a few years, do some job hopping, and ACTIVELY hunt for a wfh position. OP is fucking 40 if that tells you anything. wfh gigs have dried up for entry level and are used as a lure to attract mid career talent. Anything that can be done remote with only a 6 month investment can be done for pennies on the dollar by some jeet in Mumbai. Simply put, you’re gonna have to pay dues one way or another. Your like the guy on /fit/ that asks how he can get abs in a month. Can it be done? Sure, in some odd cases, but that’s not the norm.
>>
>>2838770
Except this is total bullshit. If you were someone you could just give a job like that to me. It's not like people do much on them, anyone with 115+ IQ can do these jobs with a few months of training. So the only problem is not having an uncle.
>>
>>2838772

>let me tell you about your profession

Why would I give it to you when I can pay an army of jeets (or pinoy, we use those guys too) to do basic bitch CAD work or coding, then have our one (1) in house guy who’s been doing it for years dress it up and fix their fuck ups? It’s insanely cheaper than hiring even 2-3 guys on a western salary. Even if we only paid you $35k a year it’s still not worth it.
>>
>>2838773
Lol only, you can live with that like a king in most of the world.
>>
>>2838774
Sure, but like I said, it’s still not worth it when we pay Singh $3 an hour and he is STOKED to be making that much and will bust his ass and do backflips on Teams meetings if we ask him to. You’ll probably half ass it or get all uppity when we expect you to wake up at 2 am to do another revision of a design package.
>>
>>2838776
Why are you pennypinching like that if you're someone? As I already called it, you're no one. If you had a girlfriend you couldn't get her a do-nothing bullshit job.
>>
>>2838778
You’re right, in the grand scheme of things I am a nobody. But I’m a nobody that makes $150k a year sitting on my couch in my pajamas. I usually hit the bar around noon if I don’t have any meetings later, sometimes still hit the bar and just take the meeting on my phone if I don’t have to interact with anyone. How do you spend your Tuesday afternoons when you aren’t seething about people that have it better than you?

And to answer your question, the “penny pinching” is industry standard. Everyone does it so we have to do it too to stay competitive.
>>
>>2838782

New car is like 18000$ for most basic econobox

Just try it out for a holiday, it is really better in SEA, trust me. Just avoid the philippines and you will have much better experience than anywhere in Poland.
