RIP Lost Continent (for real this time) Edition>Last Thread: >>2820706>What is this thread? Why are there two companies?Disney parks were initially founded as a way to celebrate the culture and history of America and provide middle class families with a fun-filled immersive experience. While theme parks are the main focus of these threads (and the title of the general) there is also discussion on other roller coasters & rides, as well as the parks themselves and trip planning too. That's where /rcg/ comes in.>Can I talk about Disney/Universal parks in this thread?Absolutely! Disney and Universal are currently competing for the Orlando theme park market and beyond! >>2826026I don't know why I find it a bit funny that they've used a door meant for a house for that.
>>2826026I will be visiting my grandmother next summer in NJ and I wanted to know if it is still worth going to Bowcraft, we used to do that every year when we still lived up that way.
>>2826029Anon Bowcraft closed over half a decade agoStill plenty you can still visit in the northeast
B&M sisters… we may have gotten too cocky…
>>2826033RIP. I cannot really venture much further than Scotch Plains from my shithole ("Newark" for the sake of argument), unfortunately.
Feel bad for the anon hoping that Stardust Racers wasn't closed today
>>2826051I’m at Sea World. It is what it is.
>>2826049Only park you will probably make is Nickelodeon Universe at American Dream
>>2825971That makes sense, I didn't think about the not crashing out part of it. I liked Disneyworld's food but a lot of it definitely makes you sleepy. Do you remember the sandwich place? I'm blanking on where it might be and want to try it out when I go this fall.>>2824632According to my parents, I was conceived at the Grand Floridian on their honeymoon. I'm going to guess a decent amount of zillennials were, but idk that modern Disney adults have kids or if normies really go to Disney for their honeymoon.
>>2826062Has anyone ridden TMNT? I've been waiting for years for it to re-open but I don't like the look of that swaying lift hill.
The lockers for personal belongings on Pipeline being coolers are such a nice touch.
>>2826059Are you the guy who has the job that lets him do theme parks all the time?
>>2826125No. That guy is an antiracist who loves Latinxs and would never use racial slurs.
>>2826129...are you sure?
>>2826026Timely reminder that Disney World's personal Pizzas are delicious.
>>2826134lol. That’ll be $86.99, goy >thread reminder that BGT is and will always be the GOAT, followed by Dollywood, and then Universal
>>2826129Stay for the firework show and scream nigger. I’ll be watching tomorrow
>>2826134That literally looks worse than a franchised Loop pizza in a damned strip mall where the teenage employees gave up 3 hours ago and it’s already closing time. That or shitty hospital food
>>2826134agreed and yet the pizza slices at epcot connections eatery is the worst slop possible, literally the only bad meal on my last DW trip. how can they fuck up sliced pizza when the personal pizza recipe is right there?
>>2826138what's funny about your retarded shitpost is that Disney's quick service food is extremely reasonably priced relatively speaking and of all the things to complain about that's probably dead last on the list
>>2826138>shitty food including pizza (pic related is $17 + tax and tip)>probably the worst ride availability in the country (coaster in your pic has been closed all year)>there was a month this year when kumba, falcon’s fury, cobra’s curse, montu, log flume, sheikra, skyride and river rapids were all closed, yet they still charged full price>frequently run one train on coasters for no reason >bad ops>of their 9 coasters, 2 are for children and 4 are copypasted>theme is “despite being just 13%…”, the continent>you don’t even get to meet people from that continent unlike the Epcot countries It was my favorite park as a kid. Was really disappointing returning 17 years later and realizing how shitty it is.
>>2826134could've just gone to Blaze at Springs if you were able to wait, you glutton
>>2826162You sound kinda gay. Have you always been gay or is this like a coming out moment for you?
They're really gonna make us wait till HHN is over to announce the RRReplacement? They're pouring concrete footers for it for fuck's sake
>>2826217They didn't announce Hagrids Magical Creatures until the track was fully done.75% sure it's going to be that layout with the vertical launch that was accidentally posted on the manufacturer's site.
>>2826138Poor detected
>>2826218The chad disney: Announce a ride and show off AI-generated concept art for it months before you've even started designing it.
>>2826219I’ve stayed in every single Universal hotel. I never attend a park without fast pass and I don’t have time for fatties who care about childrens IPs… either it’s good it’s not. “Muh” it’s about the theming experience and immersion! I got a butter beer! Bitch. I’d choose the talking fountain in front of Poseidons Adventure over some gay “wizard” shit or children’s Disney every single day. I think you’ve given up… and that’s the problem. People like you don’t care about the quality of anything anymore as long as it has MUH IP. Dude. Have you transitioned yet? I think you should. Bc you’re def wearing nail polish
>>2826230It didn’t used to be that way. Now that people are fatter, and dumber, and more glued to their screens so that they are 100% observed by the programming. There are literally people out there who give iPads to toddlers…. This is the goyim we got and it’s the reason why the quality of pretty much everything at every park has gone down and will continue to go down
Stardust updateTLDR:>The ride did not malfunction>The TMs followed the protocols>Mack is at Epic running a safety review.
>>2826071I've done Takabisha. Given that Shellraiser is basically a clone, I'd say it's a fun ride to do while in the park, but it's not something that would motivate me to travel to the park.
>>2826236Interesting. I would've assumed operator error.
>>2826236>>2826238Looking increasingly like another case of someone riding who wasn't able to brace themselves. May start seeing "you must be able to walk unaided into the car" or mandatory harnesses for people in wheelchairs.
>>2826239They need to put the fat police on crip patrol.
>>2826239>Looking increasingly like another case of someone riding who wasn't able to brace themselves.I guess I didn't realize that roller coasters required effort on the part of the rider to not fall out and die.
>>2826256Look at the number of older coasters with simply a literal lap bar. Go floppy and stop holding on and you'll slide around all over the place, you could easily slide out if it wasn't for the fact that you'll instinctively grab the bar or shift your position if you felt that happening. It requires very little effort to stop you sliding around with modern restraints and even if you do, the chances of you sliding around enough to become dangerous are very low.Look at one of those videos when someone goes out cold on one of those slingshot fairground rides, they often get disturbingly close to getting out of the restraints.
>>2826230I triggered the poor boy lmao. You can only afford Universal? Last time I was in that park, there were a half dozen Indians smoking cigarettes inside Louie's pizza place and not a single employee gave a shit. Keep hanging out with your fellow 3rd worlders in Universal. Ill stick to the richer areas like Disney.
>>2826262>they often get disturbingly close to getting out of the restraints. But they don't, which is that anon's entire point. Restraints operate in such a way that a totally limp payload can ride without being ejected. I think the guy got ejected because his body is unique with how wide his stomach is compared with how short his legs are. If he was normal shaped he could have been tranquilized into a coma and still been fine
>>2826138Not even the best park with “Busch” in its name.
>>2826281I’ve been to Disney bc one of my best friends wifes was a “Disney” person. We went to their cheap version of city walk and ate at the rainforest cafe. She went on a cruise with the guy she left him with two weeks later. It was booked months in advance. >that’s you. Meanwhile, I’m riding cheetah hunt and catching bitches>it must suck to suck
Leak-bros, was it ever confirmed that Battle at the Ministry is the ride they developed as part of the original plan to put Ministry of Magic next to Diagon Alley? Or was it developed after the project got moved to Epic? Do we know what the original rides for Wizarding Paris were supposed to be?
>>2826134Where do you live that there aren't better local options in your hometown? Are you even a coastal elite?
>>2826262>Go floppy and stop holding on and you'll slide around all over the place, you could easily slide outPeople actually believe this
>>2826313Mad poor boy making up stories. I stay at deluxe level resorts and you're sticking to the All Stars resorts. Oh im laughin LMAO
>>2826417I’ve never known what it’s like to be brown, but I imagine it fucking sucks
I might go back to SFA one more time just for the depression kino. There’s just something romantically pathetic about it. The death date is set, management clearly doesn’t give a shit anymore, yet it beats on: the park opens and the operators dutifully show up and do what they can. The site of 51 years of memories will close. Wild One, which was making children scream during World War I, will probably give its last ride soon before being scrapped.
>>2826417>>2826433Both of you are just awful
I'm going to Cedar point for the first time, any tips? Any of the big ones to avoid or ones to definitely ride?
>>2826453Skip Raptor (good but not great invert), Rougarou (boring floorless), and Valraven (dives are all the same) unless you've done everything else you want to do.The mine train, Iron Dragon, Corkscrew, and Gemini probably aren't long for this world so if you want to ride some old Arrows I'd hit them up, might not be around the next time you visit.
>>2826474Don’t forget Gatekeeper (boring wing). B&M really gets mogged hard in that park. If only they would let them replace Magnum with a B&M hyper so they could save some face.
>>2826453There are four S tier coasters there: Steel, Millenium, TT2 and Maverick. Siren’s, while less impressive, is also a must just for being brand new, gimmicky, and absurdly smooth and quiet. So those are your requirements.Magnum was the first hyper ever so if you’re into coaster history there’s that. Most people hate it but some will swear it’s actually good. Gemini is surprisingly fun. If you’re into B&M models they have plenty but none that stand out from their others.
>>2826026whoever makes the threads now needs to learn to put an actual coaster in the thumbnail... way easier to find that way
>>2826688For me it’s ctrl+F “rcg”
>jersey devil closed>nitro closed>flash closedGay. El Toro is almost worth going 2 hours out of my way for, but not quite.
Gentlemen, it's been an honor
>>2826709RIP to a real nigga
>>2826713Skyline is gonna look so weird
>>2826709>>2826715YOOOOOO WTF
>>2826709F
so what are they building in RRR's place? I seen that intamin are the manufacturer. theyve took up a shitload of space. Surely its not ANOTHER launch coaster. If it is they might aswell hire Chris Pratt to voice the ride in someway. Every other new orlando ride uses him now anyway
>>2826709I actually loved that little coaster. It wasn’t the best but it was fun and the music gimmick was something different
>>2826723Pipeline didn’t. Surfs up, brahs!
>>2826723Generally accepted rumor is an east coast version of Hollywood Drift with an emphasis on height and a spike that goes into City Walk. Fast And Furious is heavily hinted at by the signage they've placed on the construction walls. https://youtu.be/GxzM_he3BDQThe footers they've poured seem to be lining up with this. I'm not in love with it and I wish the portion that went into City Walk was cooler than a spike since it's gonna be visible as part of the skyline there, but it's a very weird spot for a rollercoaster regardless of what you build there. Most exciting part of it is the implication that Supercharged is on the way out. If this coaster takes out Supercharged and causes Fallon to revert back into ghostbusters it's the best ride universal has ever done >>2826724I was kinda hoping initially they'd do more with the Music concept as the replacement. They have the entire Universal Music catalog and to me those songs are just as relevant for theme parks as movie and show IPs. A ride that played a random song to the entire train with unique lighting effects based on the song would have been sick.
>>2826709>TEN TIMES ROLLERCOASTERS TURNED DEADLY
>>2826729Universal Music Group is actually a completely separate company from Universal. They have the same logo because they used to be the same company but the record company was spun out. Warner Music Group is also not owned by Warner Brothers anymore.
>>2826709I won't mourn it, but I will miss it. I know people bitched about it not actually inverting, but that false loop was fucking cool.
>>2826709It's just a refurb.
>be a young 20 something>enjoy theme parks>get a job at universal's new park>get to work the big new coaster>enjoy it>one day a cripple rides the ride and dies>get charged with manslaughter for $15 an hour
>>2826759if he did exactly what universal (his employer) told him to do then he is completely off the hook
>>2826759when I was a teen we'd only dream of $15 an hour. If you're not making minimum wage, you can expect to have responsibility
>>2826751What’s cool about the false loop other than novelty?
>>2826774Florida’s minimum wage will be $14 on September 30 (up from $13) so $15 might as well be minimum. But I’m betting the operator will be cleared.
I haven't posted since the guy died did I miss anything funny?
>>2826222>monthshaha yeah could you imagine if it was actually years? oh wait
>>2826787These guys going at it was amusing.>>2826138>>2826219
Some bong told me Alton and Thorpe are not worth it if I’m going to Europe for parks. Can anyone confirm?
>>2826779The novelty is exactly what's cool about it. I've been on countless loops, so something a little different is fun.
>>2826805I didn’t even notice it until it was pointed out to me, which was after my final ride unfortunately.
>>2826779you get actual airtime on it
>>2826026Still a wip but it's Sonic CD's anniversary soooo
>last time i was near baltimore it was raining at kings dominion>now i’m near baltimore again and pantherian is kill fuck
>>2826861I wonder how long it will be until KD calls it quits on that ride.
It’s 4.5 hours to Six Flags New England but I’m only really interested in Superman. Maybe Wicked Cyclone. It’s also 4.5 hours to Kennywood and I could stop by Hershey on the way if they give me a raincheck for last time. But I could also go 4 hours to BGW and hit SFA and KD on the way (probably just riding Twisted Timbers and leaving).
I think I'm going to Dollywood in November. I've never been during Christmas time and a lot of people love Dollywood when it's all lit up. I think a weekday in the middle of November should have low lines. Might be a little chilly but they should still have the rides going and everything.
heres a video of AVGN talking about the haunted mansion if anyones interested https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_nQguaXmUzk
>>2826925I've been wanting to watch it but I just don't have time

>>2826942Their fall festival looks amazing at night too. It's a great time to visit Dollywood.
>>2826949I found a video of a girl sucking a guy off on the skyride at Busch Gardens Williamsburg. Can't find it again though. You could see Loch Ness Monster in the background.
>>2826803They're probably the two best parks in England, have a look at the rides and see if they appeal. Thorpe Park is a pure coaster park and there isn't really anything like Hyperia elsewhere, Alton Towers is the best all-round park in the UK with a good mix of rides.
>>2826929>>2826949>>2826952I knew I loved BG, but hot damn do I love it even more now that I’ve learned this
I did the Smugglers Run ride with a group of really hot teen girls, and I'm 29 and they never spoke a word to me an I never spoke a word to them. Kind of weird.
>>2826971They're just haters and it definitely wasn't because you resemble a rapist
>>2826979They were all wearing crop tops and I wasn't even looking at their tummies too much.
>>2826982Congratulations on becoming a horror story they will tell for the rest of the week
Why are thoosies such heartless, spoiled manchildren? Imagine if a Disney adult said this. It'd be major headlines.
>>2827020You can try to make “thoosies” stick all you want but it still doesn’t change the fact that you think about dudes when you jack off…
>>2827020He is right thoughRIP to that guy but they very specifically posted if you have spinal issues you should not ride. They do not put those signs there to ruin your day but to prevent this from happening. He did not read and kept going out of his wheelchair onto the ride, then now they are trying to blame the park to jew out some settlement for him not being able to read
>>2827046Game theory says they’re doing the right thing. Besides, if they didn’t, they’d wonder forever what would have happened if they did.
>>2827046Not to be a libtard queer, but the ride ops really should have stepped in and the ride should just offer a crippy seat. River Adventure does. Just one car on the train that has the little gay shoulder restraints and this whole issue is resolved.
>>2827046People keep talking out their ass trying to come up with their theory on what happened. Until the official investigation is over just shut the fuck up.Nobody should be so eager to point fingers. Of course it has something to do with his disability but beyond that just wait.
>>2827048if you need a piece of rubber over your shoulders to not fucking die when most other people don't maybe you are forcing the issue a bit
>>2827086Universal wants the money of disabled people so its financially in their interests to not kill them
>>2827049The official investigation already concluded and determined the ride operated properly as intended and the rider had a spinal issue that was warned against to not ride
>>2827093Still doesnt explain how a spinal injury results in blood coming out of your mouth and dying from bludgeoning impact
>>2827093>The official investigation already concludedUntil there's an in depth explanation for how he got beaten bloody, it's incomplete. Obviously they will bury the story for PR."spinal issue" is referring to back pain which has no relevance to why that guy got tumbled to death.
>>2827093>The official investigation already concludedThe police report or the state inspector's report?
>>2827104They can do this but when I whip my cock out and jork it to Magdoll, I'm a "registered sex offender"?
>>2827109>he doesn't know how to stealth fap on ETskill issue

>>2826709Hasta!
>>2827104Damn, bruh. I get that they’re pornstars and all but what’s with the drinking piss and licking shit? That’s just unnecessary
>>2827215Once you've done every sexual thing under the sun it loses its novelty requiring more and more extreme sources of stimulation. I guess the same is true for thoosies who ride so many coasters that they get burned out and bitch about perfectly fine coasters that any normal person would be thrilled by. Like the Ka replacement.
>>2827219That's when you start seeking out the puzzle box for new experiences.
>>2827228Or you just piss on your friend in a gondola
>>2827229Lmao. Like, what the actual fuck. It’s like those people who go in portapotties and airplane bathrooms and lick the toilet seats
The American Dream's Kinoraiser (cinema on wheels) is open again! Let's go bros!
Londinium coaster layout. Looks almost certain to be similar to the Uncharted coaster which itself is a better version of the Gringotts ride system (albeit with far far worse screens)I've driven past Parc Asterix so many times and I love the comics/movies, I really should add a day onto a trip and go there.
>>2827234Is it genuinely a good coaster? They've always struck me as looking like a Eurofighter in being really brutal. The "steepest drop" record has kinda been a bit silly ever since Mumbo Jumbo held it for a beyond vertical drop (and the last 4 record holders have been the same kind of coaster too).An ultra white knuckle Wild mouse is a fun concept though: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HF_f03CbBdI
>>2827219>Like the Ka replacement.What
>>2827104HOLEy fuck did that chick just get fisted and drink piss on the sky ride?!?

>>2827237It's really good, but they need to do something about the warehouse feeling of that park

>takes 10 minutes to reach the top
>>2827270They should do an Intimin Accelerator but instead of a tower it's just a 400ft loop.
>>2827265That’s a big loop.
>>2827289literally the tallest in the world
Seems like all the coasters I know of with 10/10 theming are family coasters. Are there any non-family coasters that are themed that well?Aerosmith RNRC, Mummy and Tron could be argued, although those are pretty light on thrills besides the launches. Velocicoaster is a top coaster but the theming is light compared to, say, Hagrid’s. Is there any coaster that smashes both thrills and theming?
>>2827298Generally there's not a huge amount of point to theming for white knuckle sections as you won't see much. Plus large scale coasters themselves are generally things of beauty. You tend to get theming applied to showpiece elements.Taron, Nemesis Reborn, Saw: The Ride (even if the theming is dropped past the first outdoor drop) all spring to mind but generally you won't get start to finish theming comparable to top tier family rides. Also guessing you don't count Space Mountain Paris as a White Knuckle if you don't class RnRC as one.>>2827265It's always such a missed chance not putting a tunnel/headclipper theming element at the bottom of the dive coaster drop. Insane loop though, here's hoping rollbacks aren't an issue.
>>2827298Busch Gardens actually put some monster scenes on Loch Ness Monster during the recent refurb.
>>2827298I like Tron a lot but it's not in the conversation of 10/10 themed coasters.
>>2827308I can’t tell what the Scottish guys are saying during the lift hill.
>>2827298Alton Towers, Phantasialand, Efteling all have multiple coasters that satisfy this criteria. Alton especially. Other coasters would be things like Cannibal or Mystery Mine. There's tons once you look outside of Six Flags.
>>2827298Thrill rides usually will not have intricate theming because you are going so fast that you will not be able to properly interpret it unless it is during lift or block sections. It might have some statues around but usually nothing bigAlso cost. Theming is expensive as fuck. Could you imagine how much it would cost to theme a giga?
>>2827320You could theme the mouth of a tunnel the giga is diving into. Like a shark's mouth or something
>>2827318Alton gives moderate theming to make up for the height restriction that reduces the thrill of the rides proper, which always was the highlight of that park. They did it out of necessity
>>2827318>tfw europe trip isn’t until next year
>>2827322Well it's kino and more parks should adopt that style.
For whatever reason this maker does not include Reflections of China which would be in "My Favorites" tierhttps://tiermaker.com/create/walt-disney-world-attractions-and-entertainment-tier-list-435957
>>2827326It was 5 months ago but it feels like I just went to Disney. Why do I want to do all of these again
>>2827326>Country bear jamboreeIm sorry anon but disney raped that to be a disney song sing-a-long, send it to hell.
The dude's family is demanding Epic keep the ride closed btw. They have also hired a civil rights attorney
>>2827340I know they're sad but fuck them. I'm not going to fall out. Let me ride.
>>2827338I didn't have the heart to send it to hell but you're right it's all fucked up now. Even if I didn't care about the IP songs, it just straight up doesn't even sound country anymore. Especially the zootopia song.
>>2827340> civil rights attorneyHow? He wasn’t a nigger. As far as I’m aware he was a straight male, just handicapped. What’s the civil rights?
>>2827356You must be 18 to post
>>2827358What TF does the civil rights movement have to do with being handicapped
>>2827358Are you trying to equate being a nigger with being a cripple?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dnfzsFDjN6Y>he was so fat that his legs brokeWhen stardust comes back are they gonna force you to step on a scale before you ride and tell you to fuck off if you're too fat?
>>2827356>>2827360Not that anon, but "civil rights" doesn't exclusively mean giving free shit to minorities. It also encompasses disabled access and ADA violations, which is probably what that family is banking on and what the ambulance chaser is salivating over.
>>2827298Mystery Mine at Dollywood. Not exactly a super intense coaster, but I'd say it's a step above family and has great theming.
>>2827364That should be a requirement to enter theme parks in general.
>>2827318Wicker Man is that parks best ride, its surprising how intense it can be. Im going to go in October get a few night rides. I say its the parks best ride because they retracked Nemesis and it is FAR FAR worse now. Crazy putting a shitload of money into B&M post 2020
>>2827364>When stardust comes back are they gonna force you to step on a scale before you ride and tell you to fuck off if you're too fat?I really like how the US has the test seat at the entrance of each coaster. its like a public humiliation for the fatties who then complain rides should be plus friendly (no)
>>2827384I like how tolerance ends where economics begins. We’re into tolerance and whatever, but we’re not making wide seats on airplanes or roller coasters. You’ll just have to buy two tickets you fat fuck. And stay off the coasters.
>>2827382The restrictions really do help force them into some great designs. Wickerman has no big drops outside of the first as they have to watch the noise (also has a fairly unique lifthill that changes angle halfway through as a result) and they use this as an excuse to just make the ride really fast to maximise all the forces and airtime they can squeeze into it. It's a great "family+" woodie.Nemesis had to be retracked, it was aging too much and the sound dampening track will help protect it from that one family of farmers that killed the thunder looper. Them keeping it as close to the original as possible and upgrading the theming was the best possible outcome. The Toxicator is a neat (if minor) addition too.I like that Merlin have ramped up their theming efforts and stopped chasing dubious world/europe firsts. They deserve a lot of credit for actually removing the guns from the Haunted House and theming it around the creepy dollhouse ghost from the queue was cool.
>>2827384On a related note, what are the worst seats for randomly just not fitting seemingly healthy people?I see lots of healthy people find they can't ride gringotts because those shin clamps only work for certain body proportions.
Jungle Cruise sucks and the skippers aren't funny
>>2827469I agree desu but not sure what to replace it with. Also I feel like it would be a RoA situation where the second you try to do something about it the diehards will come out pretending that Jungle cruise is the greatest thing ever, absolutely vital to the identity of the park, even though most of said diehards wouldn't ride it if the wait time was over 30 minutes. The emperor has no clothes, just get in the cramped, loud, sweaty boat so you can listen to some barely comprehensible scripted dad jokes. At the bare minimum the ride system should be redone to be more like Living with the Land/a traditional boat ride. I dare say demolish it and replace it with the rumored moana ride.
>>2827469I hope for your sake you are under the age of 25 because that is a horrendous opinion. The skippers arent supposed to be "funny", they're supposed to add levity and set the tone. >>2827471>I dare say demolish it and replace it with the rumored moana ride. You should be jailed for saying this. Thankfully neither of you are in management positions at Disney because holy shit what a retarded opinion.
>>2827474Not either bozos but I think the changed Jungle Cruise MK gets changed to Moana is pretty high They are not just going to put a second similar water body ride next to each other when they can just change scenery and swap the boats out. Disneyland is the original which means the Magic Kingdom version dies
>>2827474>The skippers arent supposed to be "funny", they're supposed to add levity and set the tone.
>>2827479I would hope after the reception Tiana received they would be more apprehensive to IP-ify a legacy attraction that is synonymous with the park.
>>2827481Why did you post a picture of yourself? This is an anonymous image board retard
>>2827479Moana makes so much more sense at Animal Kingdom to match the already existing nature theme and desperate need for attractions. Outside of the nemo show they don't have anything for water animals and EPCOT features more of them. Plus there's a shit ton of space to build out without even having to remove anything. There's a reason AK tickets are the cheapest and Disney should prioritize remedying that.
The skippers on the Jungle Cruise are supposed to be dad-humor funny. It's corny on purpose and Jungle Cruise is a comfy ride, simple as.
>>2827498Anything that isnt constant visual stimulation is abhorrent to zoomers. The idea of a relaxing cruise through a themed environment is beyond their capacity for understanding
>>2827498>It's SUPPOSED to be a huge waste of your time.
Disney adults itt are so used to having feces rubbed on their faces that they've grown to like it and think you're crazy if you don't like it too
>>2827503>>2827504Biggest faggots I have ever seen post in this general.
>>2827474They are funny.
>>2827326The Seas is sad.Yes the 'ride' is shit, but the aquarium is amazing, second only to Georgia Aquarium in the US. (And coincidentally it's also adjacent to a Coca Cola tour, so just like EPCOT, you can drink Beverly next door lol).
>>2827504>Disney adults itt are so used to having feces rubbed on their facesIronically this is what has happened at several haunted mazes at Universel Studios Horror Nights
>>2827482For all it's problems, at least Tiana's is just a gay reskin of a great log flume. With Jungle cruise, nothing about it is particularly amazing so a reskin is not in the cards. If they replace it, it's either plussing existing theme or gutting.Tangent, but speaking of Splash mountain it's odd because Jungle cruise is seemingly far more "problematic" culturally speaking and OpEx speaking. It's a ride pretty much based on colonialist Brits in Africa making a tourist trap at the expense of the locals. And Disney hates paying out for labor but every jungle cruise boat has a cast member and it sits on a decent chunk of land. Must be the most staffed singular Disney ride but I could be wrong. I'm just surprised it's survived attacks from stingy execs and political correctness.
>>2827560Well they used to have ooga booga natives on the ride but they took them out.
>>2827560>Jungle cruise is seemingly far more "problematic" culturally speakingNot in the US. No way. Regardless of actual content, the reconstruction era south is just far closer to home, so Song of the South just can’t be beaten in its problematicness. Song of the South’s biggest crime was portraying sharecropping blacks as not completely miserable. Yes, that’s a crime. The great irony of course is that Princess and the Frog is probably much worse than Song of the South in this regard. Song of the South at least shows the blacks living in obviously inferior conditions to the rich whites. Princess and the Frog just completely whitewashes 1920s New Orleans. Other than one microaggression by a white financier there’s no reference to racism and the Jim Crow regulations. Tiana is free to open a restaurant in the white part of town and there’s no stigma in her rich white best friend hanging around with her.
Jungle Cruise works so well because it's a ride only Disney could pull off. The theming is perfect from beginning to end. It's a classic and a masterpiece, plus Walt was directly involved in its inception. If you disagree you deserve to be killed and should go back to bluesky. It did get noticeably worse when they wokified it.
Any tips for Kennywood this Sunday?
>>2827579We should screen new members of this general and if you think Jungle Cruise is boring you should be thrown off Falcons Fury. You don't have the Faustian spirit necessary to appreciate its depiction of golden age adventure pulp and we don't need that sort of negativity around here.
>>2827583I don't hate the ride itself but I do hate the skippers. And the wait for Jungle Cruise is always too long, even though the ride isn't bad.
>>2827579>>2827583You clearly want to fuck one of the animatronics
>>2827579Always one of my favorites. It's relaxing too.I just returned from my 4th trip to Costa Rica, where it's a 2 hour bus ride, and 2 hour boat ride to get to Tortugera, and it totally reminded me of Disney :P I think Walt was more African in his inception. We had monkeys, birds and caymans in CR.
I don't give a fuck about a gay boat cruise for emotionally stunted adults I can't wait to ride this thing next year
>>2827595That hang is gonna be nightmare fuel.
>>2827595based B&M continuing with dropped coasters instead of doing launches like every single rollercoaster company now
>>2827595This has to be one of the first vertical loops built in like over a decade, it's kinda weird how that classical element is actually pretty rare on new coasters nowadays
>>2827620It’s the most boring and predictable inversion. This one might be okay just for the novelty of that size.
>>2827595>they included the parking lot it's built on in the concept artlmao pottery
>>2827589The fact that this idea originated in your head says more about you
>>2827622>It’s the most boring and predictable inversionsaying that when SFOT also has shockwave in it feels very ironic
>>2827364His legs broke because of his spinal cord atrophy. It leads to decreased bone density and muscle density and atrophy which increases the risk of fracture. He rode it 6 times in a row. The weight didn’t help but it was ultimately the lap bar. Assuming the broken leg(s) thing is true, that’s still not official (it’s the only thing that make sense)
>>2827413The overhead lap bar restraints on the Flight of Fears is pretty bad. Average sized people often need the ride operators to push it down and buckle it and the walk of shame happens on nearly every cycle… multiple times (no test seat)
>>2827651Wouldn't the autopsy have mentioned his broken legs? Cause if break his legs is how he was able to strike the parts of the coaster that is honestly one of the most horrific deaths I've ever heard of. Coaster is gonna be tainted by it forever.
>>2827595What track layout is this recycling?
Tips for Dorney Park? I know the drop tower.
>>2827612I agree. I'd like to see an inverting giga next though (normal trains/first drop). I don't think it will happen, but I'd like to ride one. Launches are fun but there's no substitution for sheer height, and launches are becoming commonplace now.>>2827631You'd be too scared to ride it in the first place so it doesn't matter
>>2827657There is an autopsy? I can’t find anything about one. I see statements from the lawyers claiming his disability had nothing to do with his death and he hit his head on a restraint and was unconscious, implying his limp unconscious body flopping around is what killed him and also implying it could happen to others. The leg fracture means his leg or legs would turn to jelly and no longer hold him in, at least not partially, and he would have been (partially) ejected and really flopping around and hitting things
>>2827702Demon Drop, the smaller drop tower. The other drop tower, Dominator, is just your standard S&S but Demon Drop is a classic gen 1 Intamin, the only one left in NA. I really enjoyed Possessed. Hydra, the B&M floorless has an inversion right out of the station that gives you a lot of hang time. If you eat there the restaurant toward Iron Menace has good food. There are some classic flat rides like a classic adult Whip which might be one of the few left. I really liked being able to get in for “free” and then a couple days later going to Great Adventure and doing that also for “free”.
>>2827704I've ridden Sheikra ten plus times and it has pretty much the exact same layout. Some of us just like theming and don't enjoy being in a parking lot.

Helps beat the heat.
>>2827817>>2827815theming is a meme
>>2827219I have no idea why outsiders keep trying to pretend Ka anger is just a thoosie thing. It is one of the few coasters that reached icon status outside of thoosie world so locals were really mad over this, that is part of the reason the park was insanely dead this year outside Fright Fest. I could write a whole novel of what went wrong, but the short answer is removing 20% (maybe soon 25%) of the park attractions and a lot of entertainment events for a coaster that is arguably a downgrade to just one of the rides being replaced is not good enough
I just realized that not only did the family of the guy who died on Stardust Racers hire a civil rights attorney, but it's literally Ben Crump. >More like Stardust Racists
>>2827489One thing I have said is they need to clone that Lion King log flume from Paris. It makes more sense location wise and along with Encanto/Indy this is what would make AK a full day park
>>2827866I suppose because BG parks are mostly coaster focused (and also very large) which filters the fats.
>>2827876So does that mean they’ll win?
>>2827826I’ve been to Busch. I enjoyed it. However I have no point of reference because it’s the only one I’ve been to.

I would have missed that if not for you. What are some other good parks for old as fuck rides? Dorney was a good one for the whip, the carousel, thunderhawk, plus demon drop for being rare.
>>2827482Too many different variables here1. Splash was removed because they do not want to be associated with the IP more then anything. They have no issues with the Cruise IP and so does no one else (also Splash was an IP ride from the start)2. Because it isn't a have to retire the IP move they will not be rushed into having to make something half assed to get it out asap3. It would not retire Jungle Cruise in Disneyland, that will always be running. It would retire it in Magic Kingdom so they both have an exclusive
>75 minutes for sooperdooperlooperExactly how slammed is Hershey tonight?

>>2827973I wish I was fun. How much do they pay?
>>2827938Blacks are typically pretty safe to jump out at in a haunted house because they are typically very easy to read. They constantly verbalize whether they are terrified or aggressive, so you know when it's going to be a fun scare or if you should back off.>>2827940Theater kids, horror nerds, college and highschool students looking for fun, weirdos, dudes who just need a paycheck, honestly it runs the gamut. I have never seen a more diverse workplace than a haunted house (in terms of personalities, not shit like race).
redid Hyperia. front row on it really makes it far better. Thorpe was an OK park two years ago but this ride makes it worth a visit if you live in UK. few thoughts1. UK needs more lapbar coasters. its almost like living in the past when places like Europa have had these seats for 15 years2. Thorpe needs to open their park/rides the same way Alton Towers does - you can enter from 9am and pre-queue at rides. The way Thorpe has the park closed from the dome and only opening at 10am to then every retard runs to Hyperia puts a downer on it (running to rides is gay and pathetic)3. Hyperia would be a top 10 coaster if it had another two elements. Screams budget limits how short it is. what a shame. Still one of the best drops in the world imo

>>2828070The issue with Splash was the historical nods to characters from Song of the South, I thought?
>>2828076They just wanted to rip the plaster off and not have it endlessly come up.Unfortunately, they picked an unpopular movie, removed all the best bits of the movie, then came up with a batshit insane story because they hired all the wrong people to brainstorm it (a co-operative food factory that Tiana built for some reason?) and at the last minute changed the story to something more basic. Here's hoping The Lion King ride at Paris is kino.
>>2828081The biggest issue for me is that they changed the way the drop is portrayed within the story. The drop was this big scary ominous thing with vultures warning you of your impending doom as you slowly ascended it. Now there's a fat black grandma at the top telling you that there's a party at the bottom. Completely sucked the thrill out of a thrill ride. They handed the story off to the DEI people and it was so powerful and important that it was written by older black women with zero understanding of pacing, tone, and payoff. Whole company is managed by retards.
>>2828081Wow.At least Disney had the good sense to lower the flag to halfstaff when Charlie Kirk died. Frankly I was surprised they didn't take the opposite stance, given their history with woke.
>>2827936They threw a half ass fit over Rivers and a huge fit over Muppets (losing Rivers is by far the bigger loss if you care for theme parks), yet they still did itThey would get a week of pissy purists then shut up when the next popcorn bucket comes out. It would not be a bigger outcry then either of these two.
>>2827826BGT is the best Halloween event in Florida and I’ve done them all. Their scare zones are better than the houses at Universal
>>2828085I feel like JC is in the pantheon of Disney greats in a way that Muppets and Rivers weren't. It's synonymous with the park and one of the first things you picture when you think about disney. It's also a ride literally everyone can do so its fanbase is up there with mansion and pirates.
Once again I am asking for your tips for Kennywood.
As someone who's no longer afraid of getting on rollercoasters, is the Cyclone and/or Thunderbolt at NYC's Luna Park a good intro for thrill coasters?
>>2828106I have to disagree with you. I went to MK last year for the first time in 13 years and completely forgot about JC. It was as if I was going on it for the first time. It was the only ride in the park, if not all four parks I had forgotten about. Unless my parents had previously not taken me on it because they didn’t like it. I was seriously expecting some sort of nature ride.
>>2828133The Cyclone is the granddaddy of them all, a bucket list ride. Thunderbolt is just another coaster.
>>2828133Hard to say without knowing where you are on your journey. If by thrill coasters you mean coasters that are more intense than family coasters, then yes those are good places to start.
>>2828061Great Adventure’s collapse is exagerrated. They were pretty busy yesterday too.

>>2828162>>2828184Vibrating steel can attract bees. I've seen them put signs outside of Wild Eagle that say not to ride if you're allergic to bees. When it's bad you'll see them swarming at the top of the drop.

Magic Kingdom is probably on the side of needing a version of Carousel of Progress and Country Bears just for being the versions of itEverything else can be rethemed or replaced. >>2828217Disney plays off the most historic version has to stay while clones can go if necessary, which usually benefits DL. In this case, MK version opened opening day, sure, so did rivers. But the DL version was walt created and upon its opening. That ride will never, never go away unless like a bunch of people die on it. But for MK, they will get rid of it for something as big as Moana if it differentiates the park.
>>2828239cherry picking bait
>>2828252You know what definition doesn’t fall apart from a single counterexample? The correct one. How big is the biggest drop? No cope necessary.
>>2828268Nope the coaster is 309ft tall, so it's a giga. Using a mountain coaster is a false equivalence and not a real coaster
it is always in how tall the coaster is at its highest. It is not based on the total height of the drop. By all means the drop is a separate statement but it does not define the class of the coaster.
Anyone been to Knoebels Hallofun nights? With how good they are at everything else I imagine they’re really good. I hate they were closed this weekend.

Fantasmic is a good show, but it had way more water projections than I remember when I was a kid. I think half the show at least was just watching movie clips.
>leave Disney/Universal/SDC/Dollywood/Knoebels/Kennywood/Holiday World after a long day>feel happy>leave Six Flags/Cedar Fair/Hershey after a long day>feel empty
>>2828385The show is in desperate need of an update (other than adding some more villains and heroes to the projections). It's still got Pocahontas as the only direct movie scene in the show. It's kinda weird as you'd think it'd be an easy win and something to advertise. At least they seem to be experimenting with the new show at Super Disney Adventure World. Those water drones sound interesting.
>>2828388It’s weird Pocahontas was that prominent to begin with considering even at the time its reception was mixed and the native stuff was always a hot topic.
>>2828390It's because the film was hitting the cinemas and they wanted to promote it. I don't think it was ever intended to be something that has been going on for 25 or so years.

>>2828468Will literally never happen and if it did it would be a hilarious catastrophe because Mr Beast is a gay faggot. Bargatzeland is also retarded but at least he has people actually working on it and he seems to have genuinely put a ton of thought into it. As a Nashville fag we desperately need a park that isn't Dollywood so I hope something comes out of it and it l that isn't a cheap half assed ripoff. I don't find him funny in the slightest bit but he seems to view himself as a Walt Disney type visionary or something so I think the odds of him building something are pretty high. I'd put the chances of it being a total failure though at about 80%.
>>2828468What the fuck, Nate Bargatze has a theme park?
>>2828468Anything about regional park is basically impossible unless you're disney or universal. Even universal with decades of experience and infinite comcast money still had trouble opening a new park.
>>2828515Funfairs, pleasure beaches and entertainment complexes can still make money if you can find the right location for them. If you want to build a theme park from scratch without any franchises supporting you, it's probably going to result in a disaster for you (but mostly the investors). Theme park companies only generally get success from having a small park then expanding. In the UK I believe the only theme park left that was built from scratch to be a theme park that wasn't a pre-existing zoo, stately home or funfair is Thorpe Park. Every other park was a disaster.
>>2828512No retard, he's planning on building one in Nashville. See >>2828511He basically thinks he's the next Walt Disney.https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/lists/nate-bargatze-theme-park/
How do we solve the problem of it being impossible to get through an omnimover ride without it stopping to load someone in from a scooter?
>>2828634Have a stationary platform like the kuka rides do
>>2828635Kuka rides arent on a huge chain like the doom buggies. They're driven individually and can be pulled off the track at any time without disrupting the flow.

>>2828685Probably not. Just wait until next year

Cartoon Network Bros...
>>2828720I hope Mattel Adventure Park does well.
>>2828634Wheelchairs are loaded onto a stationary platform that slides onto a special, continuously moving omnimover car.To explain the concept simply, imagine a loop of plates on a conveyor belt that never stop moving and they all have cups on them, well the disabled people have special cups that slide off the plate and out of the way so that the conveyor line can keep moving. The disabled person loads onto a stationary cup and when they're ready to go they just have to wait for the next empty plate to be put on. This idea does not take into consideration how difficult this may be to design and maintain.
>>2828733It's enough of a problem that I wish they'd do something like this. I want disabled people to be able to enjoy the rides, but I'd also like to be able to ride the rides without them stopping. Haunted Mansion stopped three times the last time I rode it. I hate the fucking hatbox ghost already, I don't want to sit there and look at him for two minutes.
>>2828720>>2828728This is obviously happening because Herschend now owns those old Palace Entertainment locations and Cartoon Network Hotel was one of them so they are losing the licensing rights.Either way the hotel was barebones as hell so nobody went there because the cost per night (probably high to pay for the licensing) was a terrible value, the amenities and theming were weak and the rooms are old tiny motel rooms built in 1971 for the Ramada/Continental Inn built by the original owners of the park. The new hotel will most likely offer much lower rates and will be a more obvious on-site accommodation so will probably be more successful. The callbacks to history of the park with old photos and stuff on the walls will make it nice enough even if they don't further renovate/improve it much.Who remembers the comfy as hell wax museum that used to be between the old hotel and the park entrance? That amish barn raising animatronic show at the end of the tour was one of the kitschiest damn things I had ever seen.

>>2828634>>2828973I would like to take my wheelchair-bound mom to Epcot. I don't think she's been since the early 2000s and even then I don't know if she did much. Her mobility nowadays is extremely limited due to her stroke. Soarin' is about the only ride vehicle transfer she could do, everything else is too much for her. After watching a video of how they load cripples onto Test Track I would be tempted to try that.>>2828980Works for me>>2828982I'm mad that I never bothered going before they did this. Waterparks are seemingly the perfect places to have virtual queues since you can just chill in lazy river/pool until youre called. Why would they ever remove this? My copium when I first heard of this change was that they will come out with something newer but similar. But that cope doesn't make sense since they would just wait til the refurb closure to cut taputapu.
>>2828982>>2828983Yeah I'm curious what the Volcano Bay experience is going to be without those things. Being able to tap in and just hang out for an hour or so was really nice. If you have to stand in line for an hour to ride the aquacoaster, that's going to be a lot less pleasant. You should definitely take your mom to Epcot! Even if those are the only two rides she can do, I'm sure she'd have a great time.
>>2828872doesn't matter, its height is 309ft, stop moving the goalpost>>2828979Prove that the coaster is not 309ft tall without moving the goalposts to the drop or making a false equivalence
Question for you all. I just came back from Universal Orlando and was blown away as was my gf. Are there any other parks like this in the US or even the world other than Disney and the Euro/JP Universal/Dinseys? I want to go to more theme parks now but my gf is not a roller coaster person and it seems like nearly every theme park (other than ones for little kids) are super coaster/thrill ride heavy. I have no qualms going back to Universal a bunch but as someone new to the scene I just want to know what else is out there.
>>2828991>stop moving the goalpostYour entire definition is based on moving the goalposts. It counts for only the coasters you personally pick and choose. Exact definition of that fallacy. That’s why it’s shit.

Sup /tpg/, guy with the travel job here. I’ve got three weekends in Chicago coming up. First Saturday I’ll spend at SFGAm. The last weekend I’m going to try to go to Adventureland (I’ll be visiting Omaha anyway). What should I do during the middle weekend? I’m thinking Kentucky Kingdom one day (first time) and Holiday World the other.
Is the Epcot Soarin movie actual real footage? I know they say it is but it's hard to believe and obviously there's CGI added but for the scenes themselves. India part just looks full CGI
How are the wait times in epic universe.
>>2829119Around the world is entirely CGI. Some scenes look better than others but the obvious tell is the lighting. If you do a lot of PC gaming or have some experience with engine tools its easier to pick it out other tells.
>>2829125That's crazy. I thought for sure the Paris and Epcot sections would be real footage at leastMaybe they shot real footage but only used it as reference for CG?
>>2829126They likely didnt shoot anything and just used the extensive amount of material already out there to build the scenes.
Boneyard-bros, it's been an honor
>>2829125You just killed the magic anon.
Speaking of flying theaters, how do we feel about expedition odyssey? I thought the fact that it doesn’t take you up like soarin’ does was lame. However, the part where you go from the air to under the water was better than any part of soarin’. It made me gasp and I’m the last person to get “immersed” into this kind of thing. I also rode it with a bunch of browns who were screaming the whole time so that definitely made it worse.
>>2829147gonna miss this lil nigga like you wouldn't believe!!!

>>2829231>1/3 of the good rides indefinitely shut downyeah im thinking pass

>>2829271Is that like an unlimited fast pass the whole year? That's fucking nuts if so, but if you go a lot and theme parks are your primary hobby, totally worth it
>>2829273Yep at every SF/CF park. It’s surprisingly easy to pay for considering Cedar Point and Magic Mountain are $200+ for a day and most of the rest are at least $100.
>>2829282What do you mean? Daily admission to SFMM is $50 + $35 for parking, CP is about the same
>>2829287For fast passes.
>>2829282Yeah if you're traveling around all year that's kind of a nuts deal. Break even point is like 4 parks?
>>2829290You could break even in two parks without even leaving Ohio. Cedar Point’s 2026 fast lane is $950. Kings Island’s is $699. Needless to say, the 2026 Six Flags all parks fast lane is not currently available on any legacy Cedar Fair website.

>>2829262What are the other two?
>>2829312Not him, but for me Monsters, Battle, and Stardust are the clear top rides at the park with Stardust also being the only major thrill ride as well as one of the shortest waits. Having it closed greatly decreases the value of the park.

>>2829320How bad are the wait times are in Epic Universe?
>>2829328Look it up yourself at thrill data. It's a very small new state of the art park with 11 rides of varying quality. The lines are long and will be for a while. It's doable on sundays or if you get express
>>2829201Sorry anon but I had to do it. I rode it for the first time recently because I didn't really care for the original soarin and instantly noticed it was CGI. Felt like a kick in the dick compared to what the ride used to be and what used to occupy that space. Not to say fly by footage of california was something special but theres a slight cheapness to the experience even if filming and CGI cost about the same. Most people wont notice except for the laughably bad egypt and india scenes so job well done on their part. I will continue to skip it just like I regularly skipped the original.
TOON LAGOON ON TOP
>>2829437They really went hard as fuck on a theme no one under 25 has seen the source material for except through other media.
>>2829457At this point it's no one under 50
>>2829459Huh? I’m in my 30s and I grew up on toons, and so are my kids.
>>2829437One of those rides where it seems only one guy has been put in charge of the upkeep and animatronics disappear for months at a time. The entire finale scene is full of broken elements. Not that people care cause the average attendee doesn't even speak English, but it's a great example of when a heavily themed innovative ride becomes just a ride. Half the water features on Popeyes are broken too, but the rafts and drop work and that's apparently enough for people to fly across the world to ride it.>>2829457I think it was a holdover from when Islands of Adventure was originally conceived as Universal Cartoon World. The whole park was gonna be like Toon Lagoon with the main IPs being batman and looney toons and Toon Lagoon and Seuss were the only IPs that survived the transition into Islands.
>>2829463What is now the spiderman ride was originally going to be a superman ride.
No one has mentioned this yet but Poseidon's Fury is basically confirmed as a house for next year's HHN. There's a portrait of Darkenon and a statue of Poseidon holding the Triton in the halloween tribute store. The portrait is placed in the ceiling with all of the event icons past and present.
>>2829463rip saw is closed for a while next year so im hoping they fix everything or even give stuff a little spruce up. fuck if i know though they could just be doing routine maintenance, seems like its closed for too long just for that though.
>>2829471It closes every winter for the usual maintenance water rides require and opens up with the same level of disrepair beyond what is necessary to operate the ride safely. Jurassic Park River Adventure is closed for 10 months and that is the one to keep an eye on.

>>2829497Do you think it will be an upcharge to reserve the exact seat he died in?
>>2829497So I'm guessing the cause of death will be a mystery forever. These are the kind of things that should be made public, imo. It would help avoid repeats on the off chances someone with similar disabilities decides he absolutely must ride it.
>>2829328When I went on the Tuesday after Labor Day, the lines were crushing aside from Stardust and Monsters. This was then made worse by the entirety of Nintendo World closing for 4 hours. Then, when I went on that Saturday, they were far more manageable. Would have been easy to do everything except for maybe DK, but I had my family and baby with me, so we didn't want to wait and more than 40 minutes for anything. The problems really come from weather and operations. If one big ride goes down, it's going to fuck up everything else (except Monsters). If it rains, good fucking luck.>>2829468I predict their original houses next year will be Poseidon's Fury, Icons, a returning themed house, Boris Shuster/Legendary Truth, and then one completely original. For IPs, I'm guessing Stranger Things, something Blumhouse, Universal Monsters, Nightmare on Elm Street, and the Weeknd.
>>2829502So he got money right? That’s why they were correct to sue and did so. Regardless of the amount, they would not have had it without sueing.
>>2829502Well, if it wasn't anything wrong with the ride, the problem had to be his fucked up spine.
>>2829506Right but it begs the question of specifically HOW he died. He rode it 5 prior times without incident, so what specifically did he do this time that resulted in him bleeding from his mouth and passing away with a broken leg jutting out? If I'm in a wheelchair I'm going nowhere near this thing until it's explained exactly what happened to this guy and how he died from "impact damage"
>>2829507My understanding is that the bit about him riding the ride multiple times is incorrect. He had ridden six rides total that day, not six rides on Stardust Racers.
>>2829508Ah. Still doesn't explain how he died, but the coroner's report didn't go particularly in depth. Maybe they'll address it tomorrow with a press release
>>2829504>returning themed house, Boris Shuster/Legendary TruthThey've been hinting at some sort of greater universe with the talismans in the past 3 tribute stores. The museum this year features 2 more talismans and a broken one. There's broken glass on the floor with Boris's business card. They're building up to something.
>>2829509>>2829507There’s no need to tell unless they learned something that made them reevaluate the standards for being to ride. Why violate his privacy if you don’t have to? So chances are whatever killed him was covered in safety regulations that were already there.
I think I’m gonna go to Fun Spot Atlanta (just for AF1 of course) and Six Flags Over Georgia tomorrow. Anyone have any tips for either? Haven’t been in years.
>>2829516Dare Devil Dive has a very low capacity so you'll want to hit that one early if you can. I think the Superman coaster can get a line too. Do not miss the Monster Mansion ride.
>>2829510I'd love if they did a sequel to the Boris comic from 2023 (which is specifically called Part 1 and ends on a cliffhanger), with the entire house being done in the black and white noir style of that section of the tribute store.
>>2829497I was genuinely worried Universal would puss out and either keep it closed indefinitely or dismantle it entirely. Seems like they're pretty confident it's completely safe and that dumb crippleb beaner should have never been on it.
>>2829522>I was genuinely worried Universal would puss out and either keep it closed indefinitely or dismantle it entirelyThoosies are so misguided lol
>>2829511>Why violate his privacy if you don’t have to?Because it's an insane and very public way to die. the obvious conclusion people will make from it is whether or not their safety is compromised. There's a public interest element to this they have to satisfy. Especially if they want to encourage people to visit and that the ride is safe If you're in a wheelchair, and you normally feel you can do coasters, universal has not directly addressed whether or not you can ride.
>>2829525You're being a bit dramaticAnyone who doesn't feel comfortable riding it doesn't have to
>>2829525>whether or not their safety is compromisedAnd that answer is no. See >>2829497
>>2829525>people are gonna avoid stardust because they think it's unsafe>shorter lines for meI don't see the problem here.
>>2829526That's not how the amusement park industry is supposed to work. It's not sky diving where there's always an unavoidable risk. Roller coasters are supposed to be essentially idiot proof barring undiagnosed heart conditions and freak accidents. Obviously 99.999% of people aren't gonna have an issue with normal restraints but for the people out there that might have an issue, i feel some clarification would be in order. He wont be the last wheelchair-bound individual to visit the parks. The park rents wheelchairs and all the rides are ADA compliant for fuck's sake. >>2829528Sure, but, I still feel like clarification would be useful for the people out there that share his level of disability. I'm not one of them btw, I'm just saying that if I was disabled like that, I would be avoiding the park like the plague because all they are saying is "It's safe lol" while there's a bleeding corpse behind them with a broken leg.
>>2829523please, I'm begging, put a bullet in your brain
>>2829530>Roller coasters are supposed to be essentially idiot proof barring undiagnosed heart conditions and freak accidentsNo they're not. I've had summer jobs working at parks, you're explicitly told that it's dangerous for people with certain physical disabilities to ride.
>>2829530>>2829533Oh stop crying
>>2829530I understand what you're saying. Yes I would like to know exactly what it was that caused the accident. Maybe we'll get a clue when they post the reworded signs in front of the ride.
Just wait for the Dept. of Agriculture or Labor (or whatever state department in Florida handles ride accident investigations) to publish their report
>>2829537Right but there's a full spectrum of physical disability. If you're in a wheel chair for a leg problem, but your spine is fine, should you ride stardust? We have no idea because universal hasn't elaborated on specifically what happened to this guy. That's what I mean. >>2829539The statement they released is saying they updated the warnings in front of the ride so hopefully that kinda hints at what exactly transpired. >>2829540Is that what happens? >>2829560are any of the nintendo rides actually good?
>>2829596In my opinion, no. Donkey Kong’s ride confuses me when it should’ve been had a higher capacity on its train design.Despite my curiosity on how Mario Galaxy might turn out under Universal creatives, Nintendo might participate in making sure the ride would be so gimmicky that the capacity drops to 800 to do whatever jank they’ve thought of. Monsters Unchained alone has a higher capacity of all three SNW main attractions combined.I just hope whatever ideas they’ve had in the Rosalina SNW scene and the guardians coaster at Epcot inspires them to make it a good thrill ride. Something different from the rest of SNW that doesn’t cause significant issues with its pacing.
>>2829597ninetendo sounds like a terrible creative partner for a soda promotion let alone a theme park expansion costing hundreds of millions of dollars
>>2829599Yeah. But Universal is committed to it either way. They’re making at least two movies alongside it.
>>2829596The whole land could have been a lot better and in my opinion the biggest issue was self-inflicted, that issue being the amount of space they chose to give themselves. If you're breaking ground on a new park, you're only limitation is the amount of space you have purchased. There's nothing for you to build around, so the decision to just 1:1 copy the SNW that already existed at Japan was kinda fucking retarded. It should have been way bigger. The whole area feels cramped and there's no place you can sit and relax/eat and enjoy views. Kind of a big problem with epic overall, and a problem both islands and studios avoid by not having to be 100% totally immersive so they can just plop a bench down without considering the thematic implications. As for the rides, they range from mid to good. Mario Kart is interesting, but unless you can maintain near and far focus at the same time, you either play the game (which is no different from a meta quest game) or you pay attention to the set pieces (which are very good actually). It's about on par with MIB in its prime, but lacking the soul. The queue is fucking nuts tho. Donkey Kong REALLY needed more space. It could have been so cool if they gave it more space. As of right now I cannot recommend anyone wasting hours of their day in line for it. Unless you EPA and rope drop it at 9am on the dot, you're looking at a wait that will far exceed the joy of riding it. The gimmick is just a gimmick and it gets old fast. The drops are fine, but COTWW and Hiccups both have better drops. Yoshi is for literal babies and not really worth mentioning which is a problem because why have a ride that's not worth mentioning at your 7 billion dollar? I think they leaned too hard into making the rides "nintendo" in a gimmicky way. The land is beautiful and the first time you enter it your jaw will likely open on its own, but having been to epic a few times now it's the land I spend the least amount of time in.
>>2829608SNW feels like a land that could’ve scrapped Mario Kart for a thrill attraction and use whatever space on Yoshi and DK to make a unique people mover that crosses from the mushroom kingdom and DK. Rides with 1800 or 1700 capacity or even more. Instead of this current capacity of about 3000 people.Minecart madness isn’t worth it since I can’t really consider taking my own mother on it by how rough it is. A ride of its concept could’ve been more compact in terms of vehicles and capacity in a similar way as monsters unchained. Jumping by simulation to make it feel like it’s getting off and on the track.Monsters only has two rides and it’s fun because it had very high capacity on one of them to avoid making the experience miserable.
>>2829608Yoshi should have circled the entire land like the PeopleMover.

Bros I think I met the final boss of all thoosies tonight. >go to fun spot atlanta with brother to ride arieforce >1 hour before closing with no line so the operators let everyone stay on between dispatches >we ride it several times in a row>notice there’s one guy who sits in the same seat by himself and never leaves>I quickly pick him out as a thoosie>looks about 45 with some gray hairs >never puts his hands up or yellows>photos show he doesn’t even open his eyes >sitting in front of him, I ask him how many rides he’s at for the day >he says 70>says he’s been there since the park opened at 2>brother chats with him more after closing>he’s a local and does this just about every day, going to six flags only occasionallyIf you’ve ridden arieforce recently you probably saw this guy.
>>2829895A kidney stone hate to see this guy coming.
SFOG has no elite coasters. Closest are Goliath (8.5/10, too short of a drop), Gold Striker (8.5/10, gimmicky but really fun), and Twisted Cyclone (another 8.5, an RMC with no speed). I’d probably go occasionally if I lived in Atlanta, but only on a weekday.
>>2829969That's not the reason to go to Six Flags over Georgia.
>>2829982>woke dark ride you have to go back

>>2829988They changed the name from Monster Plantation
>>2829990Well blame Monster Luther King Jr for this transgression.
>>2829895he's almost always there. here's another trip report from 2023 that I'm 99% sure mentions him. >To be fair, there were people riding it. 10-20 at most, and all the same faces, many of which showed off the wide range of enthusiast life. It ran a single train continuously throughout the night, every few minutes or so. There was one particular legend who was on every single one of those laps from the moment we arrived until he bade farewell to the ride staff a couple of cycles before closing, seemingly unphased by the entire experience. In fact you couldn’t tell that he was enjoying it at all, it was purely ritualistic. The moment the restraints unlocked he, having always chosen the seat nearest the exit stairs, performed exactly the same run towards them, out the exit, in the entrance, up the stairs and into the same air gates before they could open them again. The whole fucking thing is surreal because how the hell does Arie Force One even exist there? And how does it exist without ever having a line to such an extent that some guy just practically lives on it?
>>2829969I love their lineup. It doesn't have as many truly great coasters as Carowinds, but Carowinds also has some bad coasters, and I don't think Over Georgia has a bad coaster at all. It also looks nicer and I think it's a better place to be. If I could choose between going to Carowinds or Over Georgia, I'd go to Six Flags.
>>2829457pro tip: IP doesn't matter as long as your rides do, in fact, go hard as fuck.
>>2829993AF1 did put Fun Spot Atlanta on the map (who even heard of it before they announced it), but I don't know if it's been the draw they'd hoped for it to be. It's on the far side of Atlanta from a lot of the metro area's population and not close to the Interstate, making it an unappealing idea to many. And there's really nothing else worth doing at that Fun Spot. I'm not a credit collector so I'm not going to bother with any other coasters there. The walkaround videos look kind of bleak, desu. And afaik there's not much else to do in the vicinity. Still, I hope it works out for them.
>>2829993I don’t remember him running but yeah he didn’t miss a single dispatch. I do believe that was his seat too - third row from the back, right side. Maybe because it’s low demand, so minimal leaving, but most of the benefits of the back elements. I have a ride photo of him but I won’t share it out of interest in his privacy. He was wearing some sort of church shirt, but the name was not an English word so I don’t remember what it was. What could possibly be his deal? He looks a little young for retirement, but maybe he’s there? No need for elaborate vacations and yachts, because he has everything he needs miles from his house? He did say he had been to Universal before, getting in “only” 5 rides on Velocicoaster. My brother thought he was depressed, but I don’t think so. I think he’s reached true contentment. You and I have to deal with things getting old, losing their appeal, diminishing returns, but not that guy. Not him. He’s won life.
>>2829993>>2829998Reading around I think I’ve got it. Arieforce One is essentially a toy for the owner, John Arie. He wanted an RMC and could afford it, so he bought it. The same way you’d buy a Switch 2 or an upper class guy would buy a boat. But since putting a world class coaster in your backyard looks kind of weird, he put it in one of his parks.
>>2830035>>2829993Mystery solved.>5000 rides>2 years ago
>>2830047>When asked the secret to experiencing ArieForce One easily so many times, Fordham said, “Riding a roller coaster is like skiing. Figure out how and where to move your hips and follow the train’s path. I love it!”Also according to leddit it's not even his #1. That's El Toro.

am I gonna get jumped if I wear an Eagles jersey to SFOT?
>>2826236this whole case is just so strange to meI keep seeing stuff about a defibrillator being applied to the man's chest but then some other reports are saying he hit his head multiple times but also that his heart had stopped by the time the ride was overbut a defib stabilizes an erratic heart rate, not revives your heart from not beating I don't understand

>>2830289It's fall in the mountains
>>2830292It was fall the last two weeks too and no one was there
>>2830293Well now they are
>>2830317Apparently it’s fall break for the locals. Maybe I’ll get there the last week of October.
>>2830322Checked. I wanna visit Dollywood so bad bros. What’s the best time of year to go? I know how hot it gets in NC in the Summer, so I assume it’s Fall or Spring? I’d love to go in Winter but I heard it closes down? Or some of the rides close down? I go to NC for NY break a lot for the snow and scenery
>>2830342Most parks in the US operate spring-fall and have limited or no operations during the winter. The end of October is usually when they shut down for the year. Personally I'd go in the spring, before spring break
>>2830342>>2830322 here. I think last week of October on a weekday is perfect.>peak fall color>not too cold yet, sweatshirt weather at worst >their fall festival apparently beats their winter festival>fall breaks are over
>>2830342I love going in September. When they're having their fall festival the park will stay open late so you can enjoy the Halloween lights, but the lines are still really short. I think for winter they keep the coasters open as long as it's warm enough. If it gets to cold they have to close them. But a lot of people love the Christmas decorations at Dollywood too. I'm going the second week of November and I think that'll be a good time. Might be a little chilly but shouldn't be too bad, and I think I should be able to ride all the coasters.
>>2830102>ARE YOU SCARED OF SSSSSSPIDERS
>>2827382>I say its the parks best ride because they retracked Nemesis and it is FAR FAR worse nowwhat happened to it? does it run slower or something?

>>2830531Thoosie hivemindBack when Intimidator 305 opened, a couple of enthusiasts started telling people they "greyed out" during parts of the ride. Then more people started saying "Uh yeah... I totally greyed out too!" and it became something to boast about. Now you have thoosies saying they're greying out on much milder rides, as if it's something to brag about or even real. The same thing happened with "the B&M rattle." It caught like wildfire. Some soft fuck thoosies started claiming new B&Ms vibrated more than the old ones and the fable grew from there. So now they're all claiming that new B&Ms aren't good because they're headbangers. It's just midwits clamoring for attention.

Dollywood owner is looking to be on her death bedhttps://wlos.com/news/local/dolly-parton-sister-freida-asks-requests-prayers-worldwide-country-music-star-health-challenges-dollywood-las-vegas-residency-concerts-procedures-praying
>>2830656She's so fucking stupid because her woke brain shields her from observing reality. The elephant in the room is the man who died had a small gimpy body. Universal cant come out and say that but I don't work for Universal so I will. There's zero evidence he passed out beyond online speculation that came from reddit. What we do know is the guy had a really disabled body. So disabled he would not be able to walk himself to go piss. Everyone is imagining him banging off the sides of the seat, but we don't know that, and given how the seat was constructed that doesn't even seem possible. It could have been the forces alone that did it with his spine being in the shape it was in. But again, she's a California woketard so she cant just connect A to B in a logical way and see that the guy shouldn't have ridden in his condition, so she passes off blame onto a system that's run by a...OOOOO...corporation that isn't Disney! That makes the situation more palatable to her and let's her soapbox to her clapping seal simp audience. It WAS his fault. It's not nice to say but as a theme park attendee you have the onus of responsibility thrust on you to estimate your tolerance for g-forces. The ride attendant is not your fucking doctor, they don't get paid enough. There's a sign out front that specifies who should not ride and he matched several of the criteria and yet he got on anyways. It sucks that he died, but an independent safety team and the state's regulatory body looked at the footage and reported that the ride is safe. Clearly they saw what's obvious to everyone with critical thinking skills.
>>2830656>One fag in a wheelchair with medical conditions with a sign VERY specifically saying not to ride rides it 6 times straight, so we should demolish all roller coasters to appease the 20 people a given day the ride is not forWay to go Jenny and her followers for somehow making roller coasters a culture war issue (no literally, they are going on about coaster fans being toxic misogynists and ableist lmao)
>>2830676He died the first time he rode it. That's how disabled he was. This is how leftoids think though. It's never any individuals fault, it's always a "systemic failure". They even see carjackings as a systemic failure. As if the guy stealing your iPad is as much of a victim as you. I hope she does make a video about it so Mack and Universal can tag team her ass with a defamation lawsuit. I want to see her explain ride safety in a way she thinks is more in depth than a paid team of engineers. She makes a video critiquing guest experience and suddenly she's a jack of all trades
>>2830678I thought he went on six straight times as was reported, did that change?Regardless, correct. There is NO way to foolproof an entire ride if someone ignores the posted rules. I can jump the fence to retrieve something and get hit by a coaster and it would be the same end result as this, not following the posted rules. So in this case she is asking to shut down all coasters since they can never fit this ideal scenario they make up where borderline dead people can hop in.What is crazier is they got multiple independent agencies and inspectors who professionally do this to clear the ride and note it was not because the ride but because he broke rules. They would NOT reopen the ride without changes if at all otherwise as common history has shown. Yet they think they would not ignore all that and claim they know more about ride engineering, but alas because as soon as some disability or social justice issue gets brought up in association it shuts down their otherwise functioning brains to common logic
when are we getting this shit when is this not gonna be just another stunt for investors
>>2830675>It could have been the forces alone that did it with his spine being in the shape it was in.This conflicts withA) Reported to be bloodied when he returned to station B) If you want to say his spine killed him and his dead body was beaten afterwards, he was reportedly "unresponsive" at the station and "pronounced dead at the hospital". You could argue that they Disney-fied him in the reports so he didn't die on property (even though he may have).>>2830683Last I remember reading, it wasn't six times on stardust but 6 rides at Epic. Also this is the first I'm hearing anyone talk about six *consecutive* rides on stardust.
>>2830683NTA but I think the six ride thing got mixed up with him riding 6 different rides that day and being fine. It could've also just been something fake someone said to make it seem like something more horrifically wrong happened with the ride to suddenly kill him. What a lot of these vultures miss with ADA stuff is the term "reasonable accommodations". Universals COULD try to spend loads of money redesigning trains that change the ride experience and introduce new restrictions to prevent the niche case of people with glass spines from flopping around but is it reasonable and would it even ultimately fix the issue? Preventing people with better working extremities than the guy who died from riding is fucked up but what else could you do to stop this freak incident from happening in the future.
My idea to fix ada compliance and safety for disabled people is to have one car of a coaster train just be a bucket and then you wheel the chair into the bucket and fill the entire thing with spray foam leaving only their head sticking out. That way they cant move.
>>2830674>Dollywood ownerOohh, motherfucker. Listen anon, we all love Dollywood, but she’s sold 100 million albums, written 3000 songs and won 11 Grammys. She’s a bit more than the “Dollywood owner”. You can just call her Dolly Parton. We’ll know which one you’re talking about.
>>2830675On a different topic I’m glad blue sky has mostly failed and obviously left leaning people are begrudgingly using X.
>>2830656>based on my recent visit they didn't seem very concerned with safety in generalI'd like her to elaborate on that.
