miyako hotel in kyoto is right across from Kyoto Station and i believe every room has a view of the Shinkansen passing by (essential if you're a train autist)

drawback is it's popular with lots of other foreign tourists and the breakfast queues are going to be long as fuck (a loud obnoxious Italian tried skipping me and insisted he was there first)

i got 14 days. im just wondering if 4 days in kyoto and osaka are enough and 10 days in tokyo. I wanna just go around having a vending machine day. walking about
then eat at all the good spots. can anyone recommend some amazing eats?
i like gundam/jojo so i wouldnt mind a maid cafe that is that themed. i also like cyberpunk style so shinjuku would be a #1 stop. what are some good spots with cool lights/cyberpunk/blue vibes? pic related

I'm going in march too.

First i'd say check the travel maps other people have done like this:
https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/viewer?mid=1Y0Cf_So_sjNoP9RFpJQND74qRYFTlk0&ll=35.573767170011834%2C139.93034414841097&z=10

For hotels, it depends on your budget and your personality. Personally i don't like small talk and i want to avoid certain people, so i booked a big hotel that's both anonymous and filters begpackers. Others would prefer hostels.
Either way, just get something located in the center, like in Akihabara, and near a station.

Honestly there's so many good restaurants it's hard to recommend specifics without knowing what neighborhood and what kind of food you like. Use Tabelog instead of google, anything above a 3.5 is an amazing place to eat; you can filter by food/region etc.

>queuing in the morning just to get mid breakfast ration
i only paid extra for hotel breakfast once, and used it only twice. kept waking up too late. That could just be me, but i fixed my sleep the first night and couldnt get up before 9 or 10 am, just like at home. The food wasn't that good, so unless you plan on just staying in the hotel all day or just want japanese portioned western breakfast, go ahead. Ill stick to cracking open a kirin and eating a tamago and teriyaki chicken sando at 9 am.

i use agoda for hotels, but through ANA so i get points that ill probably never have enough to be able to use. If you can find a better price for hotels in kyoto, or you just have a lot of things in kyoto planned, go for it, but osaka and even nara are just as close, so look all over kansai.

How much can you spend per night? Its not necessarily a holiday but it is a very popular time with tourists, so buy shinkansen tickets ahead of time. I would also give kansai more time, maybe 5-6 days. Especially if you plan to go straight there after landing. Idk if youve travelled overseas before, but the first time can be difficult getting use to everything. Could also be just me, but i get a cold at the beginning a lot. Just be sure to have a day worked in there to account for being stuck in the hotel not knowing what to do or just to catch your breath, dont push yourself.

There's a lot in both kansai and tokyo. Do you care about nature, history, temples or what? If its food, some say that Osaka is better than Tokyo, the nation's kitchen. Kino like picrel you can def find in Osaka or Kobe. I like Osaka, but theres probably more chinese/korean tourists than Tokyo.

Im def not an expert, but i appreciate the niggas on here who gave me advice when i was in your spot. 14 days is enough, it allows you to have one day that you can waste and it wont be the end of the world, gotta do laundry too. dw about it twin

Agoda is a site like Expedia but better imo. But All Nippon Airways has a partnership where you can earn points booking through Agoda, but it's called like ANA world hotel. It's just Agoda but through ANA idk.

it's a good budget, you can target $100 to $150 a night hotels, it's not Grand Hyatt budget but you can get whatever hotel you want.
I like the Washington Akihabara because premium rooms have a view and it has solo tables with a view on Akihabara station, for breakfast or whatever. And it's centrally located.
