What is the next Bali?
>>2826852Africa?>Cassamance in Senegal>Coastal KenyaIndomalaya?>East Timor>Milne Bay, Papua New GuineaAmericas?>South Belize>Guyana coastEurope?>Montenegrin/Albanian coast>Post war Ukraine (Suzdzhal region, Zatoka)I've no idea about any of these, but they all give off vibes as having potential. The next big places will be those which have wriggled their way out of being shitholes, and are now starting to attract the gaze of normie-adventurers and people like Bald and Bankrupt.Bonus points if they have an activity like scuba diving to attract another layer of a scene.
>>2826852>What is the next Bali?Lombok or any of the hundreds other populated and big enough Indonesian islandsbut the truth is>there won't be a next Balithe unique combination of the landscape, original culture there, great weather, good and cheap food, cheap labor, relaxed laws etc.you won't find anywhere elsesomething like Madeira might be an euro equivalent from looksbut it misses all the things that made Bali great in the first placethe most likely location for the next Bali would be in Sub Sahara Africabut all the relevant Islands there are already popular and have plenty tourismand the coastal towns universally suckBali is overand there will never be another
>>2826874>Coastal Kenyayou're 10y too lateMombasa and the ~100km north are a big domestic / local destination alreadyand while Kenyan food isn't bad, it's also not remotely comparable to what you get in Indonesia>Cassamancetoo remote, not enough populated>Guyana coastthat currently transforms into a generic "luxury" beach destination around Georgetownalthough it definitely has potential>Montenegrin/Albanian coastthey already found their niche, adventure tourismand while the adriatic coast has one of most stunning landscapes in the wordit's also all pebble beaches, which is a disqualification for many normies>Post war Ukraineway too cold
>>2826877>way too coldThe 'next Bali' might not be identical. It might require thinking outside of the box.Crimea had that month-long festival in the summer - Kazantip, where you used to get a 'passport' to an independent festival republic. Ukraine has an anarchist streak running through it in quarters, and a post-war population might do some very interesting things along the coast to 'escape from things'.When I was in Zatoka, it was full of Belarusians. In one bar they were doing light sex games on stage (exchanging clothes with random people from audience, nudity, etc). Sudzhal, as a 'land in between' and an interesting geography, might attract some folk. >Montenegrin/Albanian coastUlcinj and Ada Boyana have hedonistic vibes. The whole Shkoder area is sitting on something, imo. The monopoly on Tirana airport is coming to an end, and new airports are opening in Albania, when the cheap flighs start pouring in, there might be a 5 year boom period.Normies will flock to Durres, the Riviera is already 'done', which leaves the northern coast to potential find some legs.I've always wondered about the Caspian coast, too. Seems utterly barren. No predictable ferry route from Azerbaijan to Kazakhstan has always pissed me the fuck off.
>>2826876Maybe we need to define what 'Bali' is, before trying to predict the next one. I've been thinking along the lines of:>people living there 3-6 months>escape from reality>hedonistic vibes>cool, young population>festivals, music>beaches>some type of 'scene' >government leaving you aloneI mean, these things don't sound impossible to recreate. We might not get a 'tropical island Bali', but 90% of the criteria are doable.I'm wondering if social media and influencer culture will kill of DOA though. Maybe it has to be somewhere quite dangerous to filter them.
>>2826877Albania has already become a normie destinationpopular among UK youthibiza types go to the riviera while adventurous types are all over the accursed mountains
It needs to be tropical and exotic (not europe), but also not scare the hoes (not muslim/africa). Sri Lanka comes close, but it's not as cheap as Bali and Indias bad reputation causes problems since they get lumped together
Canary islandsAzores and MadeiraZanzibar
>>2826907Thoughts on the other Atlantic islands?>Cape Verde>Sao Tome>Principe
>>2826852Can you define what that means exactly? What's special about Bali?
>>2826901i agree with sri lanka, its safe its relatively clean, and there still isnt much mass tourism
>>2826907these have been popular for decades>>2826913kinda too remote
Siargao. The surfers are already there, the party crowds are getting bigger as well. One downside is that the nature is nowhere near as pretty as in Bali
>>2826933>SiargaoCan't they not keep the lights on consistently? La union had a monthly outage when I lived there. Of 4+ hours
>>2826852I think people forget that a huge part of Bali’s original growth was surfing and proximity to a big population of surfers (AUS). I feel like El Salvador is fighting for this reputation in Central America. Personally as a surfer myself the Leeward Islands like Guadeloupe seem like a future competitor with Puerto Rico, although the culture isn’t as interesting. Possibly all the leeward and windward islands since Barbados is already well known.
>>2826935All of the Philippines is like that. It is even more thirdworldish than Indonesia. Restaurants and coworkings have their own power sources so you can still work there under blackouts.
>>2826874>>Post war UkraineI had some friends from Poland tell me the stories of going to Ukraine for the sluts before the war. Sounded amazing. I hope this becomes possible again
>>2827153The borders remain open, the female to male ratio is probably the best in the world right now. Are you brave enough to try?
>>2826877coastal kenya is super rich white woman territory.
>>2826852Siargao is the obvious selection. There’s probably a solid challenger in South Asia and the akkand bharat sphere of things but I don’t know. Bali is the best place in the world. I absolutely love being around attractive white people.
>>2827277anyone who goes naked in the tropical sun won't stay "white" for long, either in appearance or in mannerisms.
>>2826852It's Japan. The yen crashing means the Benidorm , Bali, Thailand crowd have descended on Japan now the myth of it being expensive is gone.
>>2827339I didn't see that at all. where in japan are they flocking?A tokyo hotel still runs like $80-100/night for no space
It's Pai. Get there before the rest.
>>2827339Nothing about that is true.
>>2827348Why the fuck would you think Tokyo is the new Bali?
>>2826874>>2826877>Guyana coastaren't all the beaches mud?
>>2827349>Pai. Get there before the restdidn't that already happen by like 1980?
>>2827349>go to Thailand before anybody finds out about it!
>>2827361All of that is true you retard>>2827348How much do you think hotels are in Philippines, Bali...same fucking price if not more. In Philippines it will be triple or at least double the price of a business hotel
