Western NYer here, never been to the West Coast. I've got some vacation time to use this year so I'd like to check it out. What are your best recommendations for interesting places to visit? I'm less into the outdoors and more into food, architecture, art, and museums.

Los Angeles is the obvious choice. Grand central market. Lots of museums
The Peterson is cool if you pay extra for the Vault and you like cars. But why come to the west coast if you don't like the outdoors? That's literally the biggest reason to come over. Maybe go to San Francisco and take a decent drive north and go through the redwood forests. Visit bigfoot/hippe country. San Diego and Orange County have nice beaches.

Save for Portland, you can safely ignore the PNW. The region is a cultural backwater and Portland is the only beacon of civilization in the wasteland. If you're into beer, there are a lot of great microbreweries in the area.

Is a trip to Tijuana from here worth it?

You need a friend who is Mexican and speaks the language otherwise it's unsafe

But if you can, oh my god yes

are you into meth or camping in the city centers?

I love San Diego but it doesn't have much culture outside of food. Lots of military bros and college kids. Not much notable architecture outside the Salk Institute and UCSD library.

The Nixon Library and Ronald Reagan Library in southern California.

Huh, my whole life I always had it in my head Alaska was West of Canada, not Mexico.

No kidding.

Just looked it up, it's a modernist pile of crap. What a surprise. I'm guessing the library is the same

The padres stadium is really beautiful
>Waterfalls of water running next to the stair cases in the stadium
>Picnic seating on a hill is available
>Picnic area has a bunch of old restored buildings in the back
Gorgeous

OP don't go to San Diego. In fact, avoid most of SoCal really. It's not worth the risk of ICE abusing their powers and putting you in a cell until a supervisor realizes the mistake. Not to mention the constant riots and protestors who are equally as bad.
