Which city / country did you dislike the most and why? For me it was Osaka. Super dirty for a Japanese city, terrible public transport or terrible to find your way around, not much to do, the most homeless and dirt I have ever seen in all of Japan. Super disappointing. That a lot of signs are all in Japanese (also for transport shit) does not help especially when there is an Expo going on for many international tourists.
>>
>>2829142
You can go to cities in fucking China and find signs in English. It's the language of the world and not having basic signage in English in an international city is either a deliberate attempt to gatekeep Japan or just retarded. Either is annoying.

Here’s the thing, and I know most of you can’t wrap your heads around it: not everyone loves Japan. And you don’t have to be some dumb, fat American to say Japan sucks. Maybe you’re all just Americans who like trash-talking other Americans or whatever. But just because I know good subculture and “normal” culture doesn’t mean I have to worship Japan.

Honestly, I thought Japan was a shitty country. I’ve been to plenty of countries around the world, but yeah – the food sucked, the people sucked. I even took the time to learn the language, enough to get by, and it worked. But that doesn’t change the fact that I thought the place was crap. I always had the feeling they just tolerate you being there, but secretly want you to piss off again.

Everywhere else people come up to you, ask where you’re from, what you’re doing, how you like it – some basic curiosity. In Japan? Nobody gives a damn. Osaka was filthy, navigation was awful, and honestly there wasn’t anything worth seeing. Then you get to that so-called Osaka Castle – wow, a castle on the outside, but inside just some boring museum nobody cares about. Osaka was absolute crap.

But of course, on this board everyone has to act like Japan is the most amazing place ever. Anything less than that just isn’t allowed.

>>2829150
I actually didn't know they are the rednecks of Japan. Tell me more.

Also I liked Kyoto and Nara. Nice places. Osaka was the worst ever and Tokyo can fuck off too but at least there is shit to do in Tokyo.

Also why did so many posts in this thread get deleted? I didn't see any of those so I'm actually wondering what happened in here?
>>
>>2829251
Please consider using a website based in your own country.
>>
>>2829137
Yeah, but what's actually bad about Osaka? All of the shit you mentioned is shit that is commonplace in almost every large city on Earth, if you stray into the slummy parts.
>no Romanized signage
I can live without being able to say anything or being able to read anything. Can you?
>>
>>2829265

The fact that there is not much to do.
Tokyo is a busy city with many options.
Kyoto is wonderful and has a lot of shrines and is just really nice.

Osaka is dirty as fuck and has a lot of homeless sleeping on the streets. Public transport is actually a pain in the ass unlike the other Japanese cities.
You have Osaka Castle which looks nice from the outside but is dull from the inside and besides Osaka castle there is nothing to do.

You can go to that place from Yakuza and take a board trip that takes 20 minutes. After that you have literally done everything there is to do in this city. It is crazy and yes it is dirty.

>>

Have you actually ever been to Osaka? It has tons of things to do. It's a very lively city, unlike sleepy Kyoto.
>>

Shinsekai-tsutenkaku
Tobita shinchi
Osaka castle
Sumiyoshi taisha
Expo 70 park
And thats it.
The nintoku tombs or kofun are in Sakai and the 25 expo is over.

if by lively you mean normalfag central then sure, people who are into that are usually the ones who sleep on real japanese culture and prefer Osaka.

I love Osaka. People were really nice to me there especially in America Village.
For me, I just generally hate traveling to middle of the equator countries since I just hate the heat. I make sure to go north or very south
>>
>>2829785
Tobita shinchi and Namba are the main reasons why people travel to Osaka in that order. Basically to be a degenerate.

Sure its fun for a weekend of drinking but so is Tokyo and Kyoto.
>>
>>2830324

I really don't know where this impression of people being friendly and open came from ngl.

I found way easier starting up a convo with Japanese people in Tokyo than in Osaka.
>>
>>2830339
Yeah, but also because Osaka is the heart of Kansai and when you see everything there is to see there you can just take an 1hr train to Nara, Kyoto, Kobe and/or Wakayama and feel like you enjoyed your vacations even if you couldnt get laid.
>>
>>2830324
The lack of greenery always makes Japanese cities look so bleak.
>>
>>2830344
I'd honestly say to anyone who's travelling to Japan for the first time, they can give Osaka a skip and not miss anything. Unless you're a sex pest then I'll admit Tobita shinchi is quite unique . The down side, its starting to be filled up with Indians and other South Asian men.

>implying you can get on every train in tokyo when everyone is packed like sardines
The same can't be said for Osaka trains
>>
>>2831074
Some yes. But the ones that do give fuck off prices in comparison to other tourists.
>>
>>2830340
People in Tokyo and Kyoto don't talk to gaijin strangers unless they have a direct need to. That doesn't mean that they aren't polite, it's just that they over it.

In Osaka, I've had locals randomly talk to me (in english) at stores and elevators just striking up conversation. It's not a common everyday thing, but it's just flat out not a thing that will never happen in Tokyo
>>
>>2829229
This is all true. Japan sucks. Tell everyone you know. Tell them to visit Taiwan or Korea or some shit. Keep them far away from Japan.
>>
>>2829137
> rubbish everywhere
that's what you get for leaving the tourist trail. You're poor so you have to stay away from where all the fun is, and you try to make up for it by saying "oh i did real japan, like a real traveller, durrr". Fuck i hate white travellers

Let me guess, you booked an Airbnb in Nishinari Ward thinking wow it's so close to Tenoji I can go anywhere and you can literally walk to Dontonbori! And you never googled what Nishinari was or what Kamagasaki is.

Bit's right there in the middle of the city right? Lmao.
>>
>>2829670
Can you give me some of these I'm interested what you normalfags do in this lively Osaka. I lived in Awaji for 3 months.
So where did you go in Osaka?

I'm a total fucking nerd and my activities were shooting planes at Itami, going to the former expo sites, hanging out at Tsurumi Ryokuchi park.

I'd also go to Umeda for shoping and food, Den Den for weeb shit, I'd do a 5k run every other morning near Yodogawa Park, I went to Yao for some sentos and onsens, Minoh Falls for some trails and walking, Ikoma Sanjo but thats technically Nara and so on.

>>2831662
This not that it never happened in Toyko. I was really thinking over prices in front of a restaurant in Odaiba during rona and some old salary man dude commented on how they exploded recently so we complained about them together. I got asked weird questions about how South Africans are actually good people unlike the central african blacks on Tsukuba Express from some drunk dude but in general it happens only once a month or so.

While I was in Osaka it happened on a weekly basis some dude randomly asking you something in a shop or on the street or in the park. Like they just approach you.

In general once they speak to you and you respond to in decent Japanese their nervousness melts away like butter and then start going on about stuff. Like this old guy walked me to a a few zannen ishi in Ryokuchi park explaning what they were and how there was a pond there and then they dug them up etc...

Cali, Colombia. Too hot all year long, literately every neighborhood has a security or caged homes from burglars. Seeing old folks that can barely walk still working breaks my heart. My Colombian friend told me he found the women super ugly in his hometown and he was right. The only attractive women were white. After traveling here I rather visit Mexico, Chile, or Argentina if I wanted to visit Latino countries.
>>

OP I owe you an apology. I was the one posting all those memes about you being a dumb American. I came to Osaka this week for the first time, and you were completely right. It is filthy and unwelcoming.
>>
>>2832086
Yeah, fr. I made that picture but I was wrong. Fuck this city and everyone in it. I hate this place now. OP was right all along
>>
>>2829137

This entire town stinks of actual human shit.

The people are unwelcoming and rude as hell compared to everywhere else in Japan.

The public transport is terrible.

Every restaurant is selling the same mid food and you even have 2-3 of the same store per block. All the tourist attractions are just a low quality gimmick.

The expo was a joke because every pavilion had their reservations botted within a second of unlocking.

The only redeeming thing in this whole God forsaken shit pile of a city is that one Book Off with a curtained off porn section.

Alabama state is a beautiful and comfy state and you sound bitter. Not even from there.
>>
>>2835072
The springtime greenery is tropically beautiful, and I found the people of Alabama (particularly the older blacks) to be quite friendly to a wayfaring stranger. The WWOOF hosts I stayed with in the Black Belt would sometimes take their volunteers on an overnight float trip down the Cahaba River, camping on a sandbar and throwing a party. They had a big bull roaming loose on their 80 acres, but he got all the cow pussy he wanted, so he was docile.

Let's not kid ourselves here; there is a lot of ugliness in Alabama. Four-lane boulevards lined with endless commercial sprawl. Black ghettos in every town. Thuggish police, unruly young bucks. Messy fat poor people. I stepped out of the Greyhound in Mobile after an endless ride from Miami via Atlanta and some white nutjob started accusing me of homosexuality and trying to start a fight. Eventually security led him away and we continued on to New Orleans. That was the last time I set foot in Ala freakin Bama.

Osaka has an extremely well-developed public transportation network that Sapporo or Fukuoka can't even begin to match. Its metro system isn't as convoluted as Tokyo's; it's laid out in a neat, grid-like pattern that's easy to understand.
Osaka is the starting point for major private railways like Nankai, Keihan, Kintetsu, Hanshin, and Hankyu, making day trips around Osaka effortless. For rail access to Kyoto, there are three options: JR, Hankyu, and Keihan, all competing with each other. You can choose the railway company that best suits your needs based on where you are in Osaka and where you want to go in Kyoto.
>>
Osaka is definitely the worst city in Japan. Its just so boring. I skip it every time I go now. Fukuoka is way better. It's cleaner and has better ramen (Hakata). You might as well just stay in Tokyo, since Tokyo has way more things to do. If it's your first time in Japan than yeah maybe do Osaka for 1/2 days but that's it.
