Going to Mexico with a buddy in a couple weeks. Any tips for not having my organs harvested and getting mugged? We start in Mexico City for a couple days. >>2830494Mexico has far fewer random street robberies than other Latin American countries. If you have your own car, you have to watch where you go in states like Guerrero and Michoacan. Some regions of the state are very dangerous, but you can still say "fuck it" and visit the towns anyway. Befriending the cartel henchmen and lowlife cartel orbiters is about as advisable as trying to pet a rattlesnake, but you shouldn't be afraid of them either (just like you shouldn't be afraid of rattlesnakes).

Ask for the 'candy shop' in the local market, it's a cartel-run store where you can pick up any drug you can think of, totally out in the open.I bought 5 tabs of acid for $5 each, brought them to San Jose del pacifico, made some friends in the hostel there, we all took a tab and went hiking, then encountered a group of locals playing futbol in a clearing near another village. so yeah, quickly that became a match of indios vs gringos on acid, can't remember how we did but despite our height and fitness advantage i doubt we had a decisive victory. anyway, was a fun trip. mexico and really all of LatAm is great for that sort of thing

Besides, we only had a few days planned in advance, to leave room for other noteworthy spots and some sightseeing. Just not sightseeing back to back on a schedule like some tourist groups. We can definitely take our time.
>>2833314Train travel isn't a thing in Mexico. You can travel by bus, but you won't be seeing much in the way of nature unless you hop into one of the colectivos that travel to the mountain villages.
