Hijacking your thread a bit. I'm planning to go to London in December to visit a Christmas market. I know absolutely nothing about London, where to stay, where to stay away from. About the only thing I know is that a phone gets stolen every 5 minutes and that its bollocks expensive. Where's a good area to stay that won't fleece me completely and that I can still get around on public transport without being shanked or robbed?
Also some recommendations please. I like British history and Doctor Who.

Go to The Windmill in Brixton. Usually between a fiver and a tenner a gig. £5/pint. Decent unsigned bands every night. Amazing night out, desu.
It's in the middle of Brixton though, which is boatwog central. Just gtfo asap after the gig and don't hang around.

Public transport is more or less safe desu.

Histoy is ezpz with the fre museums.

staying anywhere normal in london is expensive
if you're so pathetically scared of being a victim because of the media hysteria you could stay somewhere outside london and just get the train into the city. example, the fairly new queen elizabeth line (colloquially known as the lizzy line) stretches as far as reading at its western end. the cost of the journey would easily be offset by the cheaper accommodation options

there are doctor who walking tours in london and cardiff but you could just get a route map online and follow it yourself
there was a proper "doctor who experience" museum in cardiff but it closed a few years ago. considering that the show is such a massive part of british cultural history (even though the recent series have been shit) it's a shame there isn't a proper studio tour or something apart from temporary exhibitions
