I'm visiting The Netherlands for the second time, looking to explore more of the country outside of Amsterdam. Already got Haarlem, The Hague, Rotterdam, Utrecht, and Delft in mind, but are there any other places worth visiting for a day trip? I'm split between staying in The Hague or Rotterdam, idk which one is more interesting desu.Got 8 nights total!
>>2832356rotterdam is absolutely worth checking outi was there on a cruise recently, it looked amazing. it's a very impressive port
>>2832356Netherlands is kinda small enough that every part of it looks kinda same-ish. Rotterdam is more modern as it got wrecked during the war. So there it looks different. Besides that, dutch cities are kinda like Amsterdam, just smaller and less tourist focused. But they are really charming. Try also going to see a bit of country side, as you can find old wooden dutch windmills that are still operating. Although it might be getting a bit too cold to explore that without freezing your ass off in this time of the year. Also if you want you can go south to see Efteling. Which is like an fairy tale inspired amusement park. Probably the most popular in the country. Just look at the prices as it can be pretty expensive. But if it's in your budget, it's fun seeing it at least once.
>>2832356I liked Enschede. It’s a college town full of young people and most speak English.
>>2832376>I liked Enschede. It’s a college town full of young people and most speak English.Fuk off we full
>>2832356How are tutors in Amsterdam? How are the coffee shops?
Who will be in town for ade next week?
I heard Maastricht has some cool caves
>>2833850What was the purpose of quoting via greentext if you were gonna address the entire post? You're only supposed to do that to highlight specific parts of a post. You don't actually need to do that if you plan on responding to the entire post.

>>2833975I lived there for 5 years. It's a great town. The older people are a bit up themselves (even by Dutch standards), but the food is good and the buildings are beautiful.
I'm Dutch and live in this shithole. It's funny how I see people being enthusiastic about my country, while I really can't see it's beauty. I wonder if it is like that for every local.
To any Dutch anons, what happens here?
>>2835534I've been to the Netherlands twice. I live in NYC and I don't see why you would want to visit my city.
>>2833975>>2835052I live nearby in Belgium and Maastricht is a favorite place of mine for day trips. They have tons of tunnels and forts you can tour on a rainy day and that book store in an old cathedral is really cool. Very nice choice of good quality restaurants as well.>>2835534Most English speakers only care about visiting Amsterdam mostly because of the legl weed but that's less common nowadays. Older tourists like it for the fact that it's fairly foreign but everyone speaks immaculate English
>>2835808>EnglishAs an English-speaker, yes, this is why I like to visit The Netherlands. Their English isn't exactly perfect though. Even the Dutch call it dunglish.
Are the Amsterdam Red light district hookers just a tourist traps or should I visit a brothel or private escort instead?
>>2836562Amsterdam Centruum is just a big tourist trap.
>>2835543we cant talk about that, do not look up Sunneklaas whatever you do
>>2835543>implying anything happens at allthe rich boomers have their second home theretexel is a german colony in summerameland is nice but not in fall/winter
Dutch anon here, living in Rotterdam. Of course it really depends on what you like; I myself like the countryside/nature and don't enjoy cities all that much.I think the islands in the north are well worth visiting, it's really a unique ecosystem. The sea around them is very shallow and at low tide completely dries up, so you can walk from one island to another or from the mainland to some of the islands on the exposed seabed. We call it 'wadlopen', which translates to mudflat hiking.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mudflat_hikingHowever: don't try it without either a guide or knowing exactly what the fuck you're doing, and with means to communicate and call for help. Because if you get stuck far from land with the tide coming in, you will drown and be eaten by seals. The seals are an endangered species and we like them around; so please don't expose them to eating your rancid flesh.Staying in Rotterdam or The Hague is not an important decision btw. There is a subway and also a train between the two cities that take less than 30 mins. They are very close.
Thinking about going to Amsterdam so found this thread, will I have to worry about scammers or thieves in Amsterdam? It doesn't seem like you hear that associated with Amsterdam the same way you do with the London/Paris/Italy. Just want to know if I can walk around high af without being paranoid
>>2838695Only in the tourist areas. Rest of Amsterdam is fine.
>>2838695just don't relax around arabs and blacks and you'll be fine
>>2838695I was just there last month for a week. We never saw anything sketchy. Until we went to the Red Light District at night. No one messed with us, but there were immigrants standing around selling drugs. I'd avoid that area unless you're in a group. The rest of the city was very safe. We walked around late at night all over the city and never had a problem.
>>2838883Generally speaking African migrants are way better behaved than Arab ones. They actually want to become productive members of society rather than refusing to learn Dutch, collect dole, live in state housing and raise gangs of teenage criminals. If you're in the Netherlands or Belgium, it's Arab migrants that you have to keep your head on a swivel around.>>2837814I was in Rotterdam a couple days ago, might visit again in December. Felt let down as besides the modern architecture, all Dutch towns kind of feel the same. Any recommendations for stuff to see/visit there?
>>2835534I can understand the appeal if you are really really into civil engineering, bikes, or civil engineering for bikes. But other than that we're a completely soulless, lost cause of a country and also FUCK OFF WERE FULL
Ranking every city I've stayed in:Amsterdam: 7/10. It's a turbo touristy place. It's kinda neat but parts of it lose the appeal fast. Highly recommend going to the Rembrandt house, very cool attraction if you like art. Also the Rijks museum.Utrecht: 4/10. Other than the canals there ain't much to see or do.Nijmegen: 5/10. It's a nice quiet place and I hardly remember it.'s-Hertogenbosch: 6/10. It was alright. The market is cool and the cathedrals are too. Maastricht: 8/10. Very cool place, home to the one hill in this entire flat country. You should definitely go to the caves and the fort, which are right next to each other. One of the more memorable parts of my trip.Rotterdam: 8/10. My favorite large Dutch city. Cool architecture, lots of attractions and things to do and see all day. Go to the Markethal. The Hague: 6/10. It's kinda disappointing after going to both Amsterdam and Rotterdam. It's not a bad city in its own right but gets overshadowed.I only spent 1-3 days each at these cities. Left within the day if it was boring and stayed longer if there was stuff to do. I highly recommend you rent a bike/ebike for any large cities to make the best experience. Maybe trip on some shrooms while you ride.
>>2844358>Nijmegen: 5/10>Utrecht: 4/10zoomie tourists can't see beauty if it smacks them in the face
>>2844367The beauty of the suburbs! Wow! Amazing!
That feel when no one visits Groningen
>>2844823That feel when no one knows how to pronounce Groningen.
Can somebody recommend a single Dutch restaurant where one can obtain a single authentic Dutch meal? Not bitterballen, not beer, not stroopwaffel. Real food.
>>2845080all they eat over there are cheese sandwiches
>>2845080So you want Dutch food without Dutch food?
>>2845080The best 3 meals I ate in the Netherlands was Argentinian, Japanese and Korean. We loved the fried fish we got in Haarlem, but then we all got violently sick and had explosive diarrhea.
