I'm visiting The Netherlands for the second time, looking to explore more of the country outside of Amsterdam. Already got Haarlem, The Hague, Rotterdam, Utrecht, and Delft in mind, but are there any other places worth visiting for a day trip? I'm split between staying in The Hague or Rotterdam, idk which one is more interesting desu.Got 8 nights total!

>>2832356Netherlands is kinda small enough that every part of it looks kinda same-ish. Rotterdam is more modern as it got wrecked during the war. So there it looks different. Besides that, dutch cities are kinda like Amsterdam, just smaller and less tourist focused. But they are really charming. Try also going to see a bit of country side, as you can find old wooden dutch windmills that are still operating. Although it might be getting a bit too cold to explore that without freezing your ass off in this time of the year. Also if you want you can go south to see Efteling. Which is like an fairy tale inspired amusement park. Probably the most popular in the country. Just look at the prices as it can be pretty expensive. But if it's in your budget, it's fun seeing it at least once.

Dutch anon here, living in Rotterdam. Of course it really depends on what you like; I myself like the countryside/nature and don't enjoy cities all that much.I think the islands in the north are well worth visiting, it's really a unique ecosystem. The sea around them is very shallow and at low tide completely dries up, so you can walk from one island to another or from the mainland to some of the islands on the exposed seabed. We call it 'wadlopen', which translates to mudflat hiking.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mudflat_hikingHowever: don't try it without either a guide or knowing exactly what the fuck you're doing, and with means to communicate and call for help. Because if you get stuck far from land with the tide coming in, you will drown and be eaten by seals. The seals are an endangered species and we like them around; so please don't expose them to eating your rancid flesh.Staying in Rotterdam or The Hague is not an important decision btw. There is a subway and also a train between the two cities that take less than 30 mins. They are very close.
Thinking about going to Amsterdam so found this thread, will I have to worry about scammers or thieves in Amsterdam? It doesn't seem like you hear that associated with Amsterdam the same way you do with the London/Paris/Italy. Just want to know if I can walk around high af without being paranoid

No one messed with us, but there were immigrants standing around selling drugs. I'd avoid that area unless you're in a group. The rest of the city was very safe. We walked around late at night all over the city and never had a problem.
