Is New Orleans around Christmas / New Years fun?
>>2832770Is there still a decent jazz and party scene in New Orleans like in the movies?
New Orleans is 0 fun regardless of the time of year
too diverse for my taste
>>2834954not diverse at all, it's like 90% blacks
>>2835523I travel to avoid that kind of people. The idea of purposely traveling to a non-white place seems like the opposite of fun.
>>2835560I don't like darkies much, but idk I like Louisiana as a whole. Drive through frozen drink bars. Cajun food. French American history. Swamps and gators. If I have to drive to Houston from FL for work reasons, I ALWAYS end my day and sleep in Lake Charles. I really can't put my finger on it but I love that state as much as my own shitty swamp state. It's not the prettiest state, but it's got SOVL.
>>2834951spoken like a true local who played too hard in the quarter after growing up in the streets as the one whitey around a bunch of nigers. Maybe that's too specific a callout. Either way for OP, this comment is probably right about 75% of the year.... as a non-local imo NOLA is the place to go to at the end of winter/ start of spring. maybe halloween too? I've only gone twice, recently during the summer, and back in 2020 at the beginning of March... based on experience, i can say without a doubt: do not go during the summer...Either way, these things aren't about where anyways. It's about the company you bring... or meet. Depending on your priorities, bring someone who is generally fun but maximize the trip by bringing someone who is not only fun but is generally a down to fuck around and find out type of human too. No friends or family? Only go solo if you're a down to fuck type of human, cause even you will find a fuck, my friend. Good food, live music, architectural sightseeing, graveyards, voodoo tourist traps, and deviant sexual encounters are year-round. ive never heard of nola having any exceptional xmas or nye traditions that would make it make sense when it'd be pretty much the same thing any other time of year... if not better any other time.
>>2834809Yes, still great Jazz everywhere. Great bars everywhere (don't forget some legendary hotel bars).
