I never got to the big apple -- I have some time off and would like to go down for a day or two to visit the museums lie the Met. I'm up in Mass., is there an easy place to park and get some kind of cheap train or metro to move around and get back relatively easy? Ferry?I guess what would be the easiest way to get in and out of the city cheaply ??
>>2836119Please do not drive in nyc, it's a nightmare. Just take a train from Boston, you're close enough that it shouldn't be too bad.
>>2836224Is driving into/out of LaGuardia fine or is that still in bad traffic? Asking for my own travel plans, I'm looking at LaGuradia to rent a car from.
>>2836447any driving in NYC is gonna suck, period
>>2836119>>2836447Just take the megabus
>>2836447>>2836119dont drive in manhattan
>>2836119Last time I went to NYC (circa 2018) I looked up parking garages last minute and had no trouble. I've never used them but there are some large park-and-ride lots outside of the city if you want to drive most of the way but take public transit within the city. I have no experience with NYC public transit.Traffic wasn't the greatest but it really wasn't that bad compared to DC/Baltimore or some other places--busy, and stop-and-go during peak hours, but not overly hostile or aggressive. I was driving a manual and rush hour stop-and-go leaving the city was somewhat tedious. If you're not driving a manual transmission vehicle and you're used to city traffic you'll be fine. The main traffic issue I had involved letting my diesel tank get too low and running out while trying to navigate to a gas station that actually sold diesel. I parked illegally (cop said it'd be fine), ran a mile or two, bought an overpriced plastic gas can, filled it with diesel, and ran back. I was on a miserably tight schedule leading up to that otherwise I have a policy of not letting my tank get below 50%, or 13%-25% if I'm doing a lot of open highway driving and know there are lots of fill-up opportunities. Don't be retarded with your fuel management and fill up an emergency can (especially if you're using anything other than normal petrol or are prone to running on empty) and it won't be a problem.
>>2836483>>2836501>>2836504I should clarify: the plan is to arrive in NY, get the rental and drive out towards wherever my route is (tbd). I'll try to avoid the city proper, but if I'm going to/coming in from Boston I may have to put up with at least the outskirts of the city.
>>2836119why would you want to go to hell on earth?there isn't even any real "culture" left to make it worthwhile.https://www.brighteon.com/c9d8a55a-8b63-43f1-a97f-345295d34f17
>>2836561>why would you want to go to hell on earth?>to visit the museums like the MetI share your knee-jerk disdain for NYC but at least read his post before replying.
