Favorite places in Greece?

Stayed in a poor small city in the Peloponnese last time, close to 3rd world, not a nice touristy place, house vibrated when cars drove by 100+ yards away, and I loved it. I love the people, the climate, the churches. Laissez faire. Can have a good time anywhere as long as you have a car. Get your priorities straightened up. Of places I've been though, I'm going Nafplio. Least favorite day was spent driving around Boeotia.

Western Crete is my happy placeit has venetian old harbour in Chania old townotherwise it's very spread out and has like 3/top 5 beaches in greece (Balos, Elafonissi, Falassarna)the beaches are filled with all kinds of sketchy people trying to sell shit to you or rob your shitThere are taverns I dream about and when I get back to them every few years the food is just as amazing.The best thing about greece is the relaxed vibes. I think crete is even more chill because its an island most tourists need to drive a supermini car so nobody is retarded and speeding like retards, instead you're just enjoying a drive to the beach or wherever.I explored the island more every time, been 3 times. Had a fucking blast. You just drive and wherever you get hungry there's on the map nearby some amazing family run tavern with delicious food.Falassarna beach is my favorite at the moment, perfect sand, huge beach, several other beaches nearby if you want to try them, usually almost 0 waves, fish in the water near the rocks if you want to swim under water, etc.But Elafonissi is also incredible if the beach bridge to the island isn't partially flooded which makes the beach crowded.The water is out of this world.Every time I land in Crete I immediately relax and all my shit is left behind, I am in my happy place. Rent a car from the airport and just explore it all. I haven't bothered exploring the most populated heraklion area on the east side.

I went 3 years ago and visited Athens, Santorini, Naxos, Syros, and Rhodes.If I ever get a chance to go again I will go to the less popular islands. Naxos and Syros were amazing, both had a quiet vibe, were very relaxing, great food for reasonable prices on both. Naxos is a super nice island, there are barely any tourists there compared to the more famous islands.
