$50 cash gets 30 days on arrival for burgersI've heard hotels in Sri Lanka are cheaper than in southern India. Is that true? I'd like to travel to the island in early 2026 before flying back into India or else flying onward to Southeast Asia.

I want to first compare the geography and quality of life in selected destinations across all of the southern Indian states before heading over to Sri Lanka, and then flying out of Sri Lanka either back to India, onward to Bangkok, or both with an IndiGo multi-city ticket.

If you don't care so much about socialising with other travellers then I'd recommend doing a few homestays at ~$15-20 per night, the ones I stayed in all did beautiful home-cooked food>>2843199What are you on about? There's shitloads of really nice places to go outside in Sri Lanka. Jungles and tea plantations in Ella, tropical sandy beaches in Hiriketiya, etc. Scammers aren't anywhere near as bad as in India, either
>>2843199Strongly disagree, the capital city Colombo is probably the worst, but there are a lot of things you can do in Sri Lanka outside of that, there are thousands of places you can visit ranging from nice beaches to ruins of ancient civilizations. Just be careful as it is still a 3rd world country.
