It’s a good question bro. I currently live on Oahu so I surf north shore a lot. But I really hate surfer chicks for some reason. Unless they rip I feel like they do it for the image, the gram, the likes and views of being an influencer etc. like they don’t get surfing. They don’t understand what it is. The headspace. The mentality. idc so much about the Brazilians, if they’re shredding but wave hogging we will just burn each other dropping in until we get even, they stop or we fight. I do not like Jews because they’re evil. Probably J Bay although it’s sharkey? Bali is destroyed so the other island like Lombok might be worth researching. There’s a lot of spots that haven’t been blown up in Indo im sure. Japan? Croatia?

every year
mostly going there during summer, doing my job 4-6weeks remotely
so I can surf during the mornings / evenings and on weekends

though tbf I have a vacation house (more like a shed with AC kek) near Biarritz and it's only like a ~11h drive from my regular home

never really traveled somewhere else to surf
would feel like a waste

I feel opposite, that it gives me a central reason to base my vacation around, a theme, a purpose. Surfing and learning different waves is also part of the joy. Fast and punchy waves that jack, slow shouldery steam rollers, small and powerful ones that throw tiny barrels. Basque Country sounds nice

because for me
I have dozens of destination I want to visit that have nothing to do with surfing
as I go surfing multiple weeks every year already
it'd feel like a waste spending my precious 30days of paid time off on this as well

Guess I’ve done enough international travel already where surfing wasn’t involved. Surfing is my addiction, part of my identity, so a vacation without it always seems kinda empty.

Tourism ruined Ibiza. Tourism ruined Bali. Hopefully Basque Country doesn’t blow up to the point of self destruction. There’s a real problem now where people are godless and everything is just about ego. It’s not good enough to just live and enjoy. Everyone has to document it and get views. And it’s just getting bizzare.

Even here on Oahu which is a small island, not all the spots are blown up. There are hidden spots. Most people who are tourists go by what is on Surfline. And Surfline only shows a handful of the most popular spots. There’s nothing listed on Surfline from diamond head to Sandy’s beach. And that’s a lot of water in between. I know a bunch of spots in north shore that only locals go, they aren’t on Surfline. So if that’s the case here then it has to be the case on an undeveloped island chain where there’s thousands of islands. I’m a 33 burger also. I’ve traveled to Asia many times but never went to indo. I think it is mostly tik tok influencer type there and faux spiritual daddy’s money girls. Who irritate me to my soul. Maybe find a local girl. Good luck bro.

it's extremely touristic
France is literally the most visited country in the world and has been for decades

Biarritz itself is somewhat fine (even for a french city...)
but many smaller towns and villages around basically die out from October to May

it's still a cool place
most of France is
even with all the tourists

with that said, the region isn't exactly the most popular within France, so that helps
