I’m thinking of moving to a metro area someplace between DC and Boston, inclusive.
Any advice?
I’m kinda introverted, like access to interesting talks on policy/tech/philosophy, like to be able to spend weekends outdoors, like high quality food/dining experiences.
I’m looking for a wife too. I’m really an independent or classical liberal but most people thought I was super conservative when I lived near an extremely left wing place several years ago. I want to be able to discuss policy and politics with open minded people who don’t think I’m Hitler or Pinochet because I agree with deporting illegals.
Help me out? Any advice? I’m open to pretty much anything near the east coast but DC-Boston area seems best.

There is nowhere on the east coast that will fit this criteria, you have the south that still loves blacks because of football and the rural north loves blacks because they don't live around them. I lived in the DC area for 30 years if you have any specific questions about the DC, Baltimore and Annapolis area I can answer them.

DC is a military base and a weapons factory with suburbs.

Are there many nonpretentious people there or is it all stuck up ladder climbers?
I work in law/policy and think DC would be cool to live in to meet people with similar interests and they have the good food scene and speaking events. I’m mostly worried about the attitudes and people. If anything I think I’d live in northern Virginia. Any thoughts on the people and culture?
>>2839565
Yes and?
>>
>>2839567
If you are being paid handsomely to be there, and you only care about money, then DC is nice I guess. But otherwise it's violent spics and niggers and traffic and awful.
>I work in law/policy
of course you do
t. been stuck in dc my whole life

> Any thoughts on the people and culture?
every mystery meat on earth lives in nova, even though hilariously, people live there to escape the worst of the niggers who mostly keep to dc and maryland
but in exchange you get persians and koreans and jeets etc.

that said, if you are conservative, and want to meet young people:
I recommend a condo in DC itself in Navy Yard, that's where the young conservatives live

The northeast is definitely way more conservative than the west coast but that applies mostly to fiscal and social justice issues, not immigration. The only places you're going to find people like that are the chuddy suburbs of Long Island and New Jersey (where the dating pool is exclusively 40+ year old divorced women) or the Delmarva peninsula which is fairly rural and therefore not conducive for meeting women.

I think you'd have better luck elsewhere but if you really want to do the northeast I would recommend Staten Island. You will need to be honest about your conservative status (no need to go into specifics, people will see Staten Island and conservative and put two and two together) which will make you ineligible for most of the dating pool in New York, but I think is your best chance at finding what you're looking for.

>>2839567
>Are there many nonpretentious people there or is it all stuck up ladder climbers?
In Virginia (excluding Alexandria) and NW DC, no, that's all there is.
>>
>>2839570
>of course you do
I now what you’re thinking, but I promise I’m not a typical yuppie. I’m really not that driven.
>been stuck in DC whole life
Sorry to hear that. It sucks that modern economy is the way it is for most people. Especially if you have to support a family and the way rent is now.
>Navy Yard
Thanks for the recommendation!
>>2839590
Thanks, I live near NYC now and don’t really like the artistic energy. I like the more rational energy of DC or Boston but am just worried I won’t fit in.
>Alexandria
Thanks! I guess I’ll look there too.
>>2839570
>>2839590
Honestly it’s not even about being around more conservatives. It’s about being around people who won’t treat me like a leper or make unfounded assumptions about an oversimplified label.

If dating is really important to you I would strongly recommend against anywhere near DC until Trump is out of office. A ton of young conservative single men have flooded the area to get jobs in the new administration and not only do they outnumber conservative women easily 40:1 if not more, but they're also just generally speaking obnoxious and misogynist and the Trump administration specifically has been deliberately targeting DC and per policy "terrorize" feds and fed contractors which make up most of the employment to say nothing of the NGOs that are very women heavy. That makes them strongly dislike conservatives who are perceived to be for all of this, but also women just don't want to date when their lives are falling apart, which many feel they are due to conservative actions. You could lie and pretend to be more liberal but women always sniff it out eventually and if you're looking for something long term that's not sustainable.

Thank you for the advice. I’m really very moderate and independent politically, but a handful of topics I go to the right on. Even though I hold progressive views too on other topics, left wing people seem to not care. I don’t want to live in the south (besides northern VA) and I’m not moving to Chicago or west of the Mississippi. It sucks people are like this. I don’t want to feel like a prisoner in my own heart and mind. And if anything I’d end up working for an NGO because my career is left wing oriented. And thanks, but no way I’m going to lie about politics to get laid. It’s not worth it nor have I had to lie so far.

People in nova and DC are very stuck up and don't really debate against opposing viewpoints, everyone kind of assumes you agree with them on the current thing. DC especially is full of people who care about their career tok much. NoVa, DC and MD are dyspotian libtard hellholes with speed cameras in every intersection, overtaxxed, overpriced totalitarian shitholes where culture means paying $100 for brunch every weekend.

Baltimore is a little more blue collar white trash but their niggers are much more violent + the city proper is much smaller. Annapolis is a fine place to live, old money Maryland and Navy officers with people who work in DC and Baltimore but don't want to live there.

I dont understandbthe Jersey pines? I found some 5 bedroom houses on 3 acres in the middle of a issolated forest 1 hour from Downtown Philadelphia? Places cost 300k
That sounds like heaven. I'd kill for options like that in Calgary.
I also learned today Napoleons older brother claimed to have saw the Jersey devil.

Northern Virginia sucks.
>>
>>2839686
yes but for self pronounced conservatives who base their worth on how TRAD they are, it is 100% perfect
DC is an ultra conservative southern city larping as something else
and NOVA are the more conservative suburbs anyways
>>
>>2839680
It is different in DC right now and OP is looking for LTRs not hook ups
>>
>>2839689
Northern Virginia is 100% perfect for people who like to look at parking lots and spend their lives on the highway.
>>
>>2839758
Sure, if you think Manassas is NOVA. Try living in McLean or north Arlington.
>>
>>2839758
I kind of spend a lot of time on the highway, but at least I'm going to pretty places. There's beautiful gorges and hills within 4-8 hours drive of DC, and most bitches don't know about that.

I will say - the sheer amount of sprawl in NOVA is breathaking. Shitty apartments and small homes crammed in for miles and miles. I wonder what the heck they all do.
>>
>>2839784
>There's beautiful gorges and hills within 4-8 hours drive of DC, and most bitches don't know about that.
pfffttt. Oh man, you'll fit right in!

The Northeast Corridor is one of the most diverse regions in America, full of immigrants from all over the world. If you hate immigrants, it is the last place in America you should be looking to move to. My affluent New Jersey neighborhood growing up in the early 2000s was about 15% White. Lots of India Indians. NJ has more Indians than anywhere else in America. Traffic is a shitshow, but you'd be surprised how many open space and nature areas there are all over Central Jersey. Riding bicycles around as a kid, catching frogs and crayfish in streams with my siblings, it was a lot of fun.
>>
>>2839790
lol I don't fit in at all
DC is a bizarre place almost nobody is from there its a lot of people from like the midwest who want boring stable government or military jobs the people are simultaneously boring, snooty and fake
there's no politeness, no friendliness, everyone is ladder-climbing and competitive with the thinnest veneer of leftist performative concern, and it's an absolute racial cloaca
>>
>>2839636
The Pine Barrens are New Jersey's empty space. I remember the first time driving through with my senpai on a trip to Cape May, shocked to see no houses whatsoever on the side of the highway. Speed Limit 55, holy shit! You never see 55 mph speed limits on two-lane highways elsewhere in the state. The state forests are pretty cool if you like seclusion and are okay with mediocre scrubby scenery. Lots of sandy roads to cruise along in your high-clearance vehicle.
>>2839611
Americans don't really discuss politics face to face in [current year]. The risk of a disagreement escalating into a nasty argument - whether with a stranger, close friend or family member - is simply too high.
>>
>>2839531
RI and eastern CT are fairly cheap, you can get to Boston and NYC (or any of the typical New England wooded areas) any time you want, your political views wouldn't be out of place
>>
>>2839531
Plymouth is pretty good. Also the unwritten rule is that liberals pretend not to be racist but are.
>>
OP here returning to read more replies.
Besides super rural area, does anyone have recommendations beyond DC? If you read my whole OP it says I’m interested in anything in the northeast corridor.
Tell me about Boston area?
To all who have commented, thank you. This is all valuable, even though I have to take some of it with salt.

>>2839793
I have nothing against immigrants at all. I come from immigrants. They didn’t enter and stay illegally though.
>>2839797
I take it you advise against living in the area?
>>2839871
Thank you! Over the past two days I started looking closer to Boston because it seems less intense than DC but still intellectual enough to meet interesting people. Where I grew up up people were boring and status obsessed. Where I live now it’s similar but in a NYC metro area flavor. Even though I’m technically outside the metro area.
>>2840061
I’ve noticed that about a lot of left wing people especially those who virtue signal a lot.
>>
>>2839531
i mean this honestly, do not move to the NYC metro area. its terrible here, especially for finding a wife.
>>
>>2839636
NJ is the most densely populated state, but it still has miles of empty wilderness in the pine barrens, and in the mountains an hour west of NYC. And several thousand farms. Look at a density map.
