I flew back to the USA for my birthday around election time and Avianca (a Colombian company) chose me on both layovers in Bogota for "random" additional screening. I held residency in Colombia for years. Worth avoiding.

They've been resentful since the beginning, they look down on themselves, always say they love their home and not chasing America but they are in fact chasing America (and Canada, etc) for money and a better life. The dissonance in their heads makes them crazy. As for those that are happy at home, they aren't going to feel bothered by you because they don't want what you have and they'll welcome you to their homeland.

Everyone who has something negative to say is always projecting their self hatred 100% of the time. I mean not a legit criticism but actual hate is always self hatred. Remember that.

I traveled around Latin America during Trump 1.0 and everything was fine, but this last time around it felt different, like things had shifted. Just an unfriendliness I hadn't noticed before.

There are millions of people in CA and most of them don’t care about the politics of some far off country. Most of them don’t even want to visit the US for more than a week maybe. When you identify as American, sometimes they bring up trump with a grin and you just roll your eyes and thats the end of it.
