What about that place makes it more expensive, even with similar populations?
I dunno but as an ausfag I stay the fuck away from Sydney, typical over-inflated/over-populated city. Not even fun to visit for vacation. Melbourne I have heard is a greats spot probably not to live though.
>>2844782Harbour firstlyWeather secondlyLess pretentious thirdly
>>2844796>you have to pay double the cause of living because there's big boats nearby and ports to accommodate themgrim prison islandHow is Perth? Perthpill me. Seems underrated, nice climate.
>>2844799Quiet, they used to have laws that banned selling things on Sundays, think that got changed. It seems comfy but the remoteness is probably a thing. Sydney harbour is fucking nice, I won't deny it, plus a lot of beaches. Even just catching the ferry over the harbour is great
>>2844808I think COVID redpilled a lot of people on what Australia is really like. Behind the friendly low-key demeanor is a nanny state waiting to snap and citizens eager to control and be controlled.
Aussie here, been all over and lived in every state for over a year, Darwin is the place to be.Melbourne is crowded, Sydney is expensive, Hobart is boring and Brisbane is full of boomers and tourists.Adelaide is nice but boring, Perth is ok but even more expensive than Sydney.Darwin is big enough you can get everything but remote enough it's still a little wild west, the only downside is abos but they mainly cause problems for their own.
Different politics. Victoria is a more progressive state so its politicians have to respond to that. This means they put in policies to drive down costs for things like housing.NSW politicians aren't expected to do jack shit, so developers lobby hard and win out. Not to mention there is blatant corruption where said developers bribe them to implement policies that will make them rich.
>>2844810Are you under 26 or something? Australia has always, notoriously, been a nanny state. COVID didn't change this.
>>2844812>Darwin is the place to bedon't listen to this guy kek, crocodiles, aboriginal crime, literally everything that will kill you in Australia is from Darwin. Not to mention the temperature is the same as the sun. Admittedly the nature is nice around these parts. >t. SE qlder
>>2844907I suppose the image in America is fun low-key surfer state where everyone is much more casual than in America.
>>2844812>Perth is ok but even more expensive than Sydney. That was 20 years ago during the mining boom.
>>2845070I don't know, I've never actually been. I just know during the boom it was crazy expensive, but since then it's pretty much stayed the same price for everything while Sydney has exploded. There was something like a $5,000 average house price difference in 2005 and now it's over a million dollars difference
>>2845070Arguably the nicest beaches in Australia, beautiful wildlife, some of the nicest camping, it's legitimately paradise around the beaches/nature there. Depends what type of guy you are? if you are big on surfing there is great surf there. Perth is a nice clean city. The areas around Perth are stunning
>>2844971Americans are, compared to the rest of the western world, extreme in their anti-government intervention world view. The second another country shows a preference for some degree of state intervention, their minds are fucking blown. I'm not even arguing one way or another, its just the "every should do things like we do" mentality cannot be more easily demonstrated than by talking about something like "government spends money on thing"
australia = shit
>>2844812Is it hot AF there?>>2844907The portrayal in American media is basically that Australia is like the rural south or wild west but with a British way of speaking and more surfing, but the reality couldn't be further from the truth and it is full of extreme Karens that think you getting fined for forgetting to lock your car is a reasonable policy.
>>2846112Another ausfag here>Is it hot AF there?Australia is huge and has every climate possible so it depends where you are referring to. Most of Australia in Christmas time is fucking hot though. If you are referrable to Darwin it is as hot as the devils asshole (100% humidity all year round also)
Sydfag here. AMA. Im not poor so i actually like living here. Been here my whole life, and I'm brown.
>>2845128It's all talk, because Americans have police forces and prison populations larger than any other place on Earth. They absolutely believe in government intervention, but only when it benefits the rich.
>>2844799Perth’s a full-on mish-mash, hey — proper chill but still carryin’ that wonky Perth buzz, like the whole joint’s sittin’ there sussin’ itself out while pretendin’ it’s sweet as. You rock up and it’s all sunburnt cruisers and sand-soaked yarns, but there’s this sneaky vibe under it all, like everyone’s in on some low-key Perth thing that doesn’t actually exist, y’know?
>>2845128>Concentration camps over a weak virus are normal guys
>>2846764>400 million>30 million >Cities ran by shitlibs that don't arrest anyone anymore
