Danakil Depression. Depression in Djibouti/Ethiopia where water has evaporated, leaving salt pools.
Siwa Oasis. Most unique place I've personally been. A huge oasis in the middle of the desert with:>lots of random hot and cold pools coming from nowhere>ancient mud-brick fortress in centre (got btfo by 3 days of rain in the 20s)>the temple where Alexander the Great heard from the oracle he was the rightful ruler of Egypt>endless date farms and trees>fossils from the old Tethys Ocean strewn across the nearby desertWill describe more in my Egypt thread.
