Anyone been on an African safari? What was your experience? I'm thinking a 2 week trip to Africa with a 6 day Safari in Tanzania. What should I do with the rest of the time? How do I avoid dying from Malaria?

>Anyone been on an African safari?
short one, yeah. side trip while i was working in zambia
>What was your experience?
yeah it was cool. saw some animals. saw some rhinos guarded by a platoon of soldiers who weren't particularly pleased to see us. the park where we were didn't have any of the top predators like lions etc. it was still pretty cool as it was basically a cheap trip for me but make sure where you are planning to go has the animals that you want to see
>I'm thinking a 2 week trip to Africa with a 6 day Safari in Tanzania.
ok cool
>What should I do with the rest of the time?
depending on where you are there are usually other activities. river trips, helicopter trips etc and nearby towns to have a look at. or you can just hang out at your hotel/lodge and pretend you are a colonist from the scramble for africa and drink til you stink
>How do I avoid dying from Malaria?
simply hang a sign round your neck that says "please do not bite".

This is just dumb. Everyone knows African mosquitoes can't read

> Anyone been on an African safari?
5 nights in southern Serengeti, then 4 nights on Zanzibar for honeymoon
> What was your experience?
Really awesome. Loved it all, saw lots of cool animals, real nice service and food was good. It was a semi-permanent camp. Flush toilet, bucket shower, and the tent/bed was comfy. Electricity and WiFi in the main cabin.
Had breakfast, morning drive. Back to camp for lunch then afternoon drive. Back for dinner/drink then bed was the normal day

If you can, try and go to a couple different camps. I only stayed at one camp and heard it’s better to jump to a few. It’s a 30min-1h small plane jump and the terrain, animals, whole vibe can change.
What time are of the year are you going? That will determine where to go.
> What should I do with the rest of the time?
We did Zanzibar after the safari, lots of beach time. I think there are some coastal resort cities on the mainland as well. Some coffee plantations have nice chill vibes as well.

Take the pills, bug spay, and wear long sleeves/pants

Africa is an interesting choice for a honeymoon ... while the landscape can definitely be romantic, the perception of lack of safety and excessive poverty, wouldn't that be a downer?
last thing I would want my newlywed wife to experience is Blacks begging for money or worse, acting violent

jeez anon you sound like you're scared to leave your house
the places where people go for safaris generally have pretty well developed tourist infrastructure and are generally completely safe as long as you are not stupid
as for begging, maybe it exists but i didn't see much evidence of it. they know that white tourists are probably going to splash the cash around a bit anyway. i have seen more beggars in big usa/euro cities than anywhere i have been in africa

idk i'm an incel so i don't mind putting myself in danger or sketchy situations but taking a woman somewhere full of niggers would be a big deal in my mind

African safaris charge like $1000 a day. It's more expensive than any other type of trip you can take. I'm assuming they keep you pretty safe since they want people coming back

its really that pricey? guess ill go later in life
