I did the same move a while back, but I work at an international school. I make 120k baht a month in Bangkok. Lots of vacation and my job is a bit of a joke (come late, leave early, no boss, no evaluations, no clubs or duties, etc...). I basically just do whatever I want and no one cares as long as there are no complaints. Thai labor law is very strong in favor of the employee so once you've passed probation, you're basically impossible to fire. 30 paid sick days per year and severance as well. Thailand is nice because there are more holidays, the country is way easier to live/travel in, and Bangkok just mogs every city in Vietnam. It's quieter (no honking), there's actually a metro system, there things way more things to do, there are footpaths that people don't drive on. Plus I don't constantly get food poisoning like I did in HCMC.

I would look for work in a bilingual school rather than a center, as they employ unlicensed teachers all the time and will offer a salary with vacation time rather than bullshit hourly pay. You could expect around 50-60k. This is enough to live on in Bangkok unless you're retarded with money. 1br condo is 10-20k depending on where you are, or cheaper if you really want to jew out. Food is 100k per meal give or take. Visa process is easy enough since you don't need anything legalized or authenticated, or even a background check from back home. You can show up on a tourist visa, get a Thai background check, and do a visa run once you start working. I'd plan on upskilling while you're here though. Masters/DELTA/PCGE or license can go a long way if you're planning to build your life abroad. That being said, my GF works at a bilingual school and they offer compounding pay raises every year, so there are so teachers there with only a BA making around my salary.

Bangkok is quite literally the hub of Southeast Asia. You can go anywhere from BKK or DMK without a layover. It is also visa-free. Development is surprisingly great compared to its neighbors. Your shoes stay very clean walking around the various provincial centers. Hotels are famously clean and comfortable for surprisingly low rates. The people are graceful and capable of doing business across a language barrier better than most other people in the world. The winter climate in the north is hot, dry and sunny.

All that being said, Thailand does get boring after a few visits. You can start feeling like a non-person even in the smaller places, that's how little anyone gives a hoot about your life. Most of Thailand by area has boring topography and monotonous natural habitats. Strange preference, but India would be more up your alley. Weather is amazing this time of year here, especially on the Deccan Plateau. Cool, dry, sunny every day. However, hotels in India are not quite as nice as they are in Thailand. I just paid $20 USD per night for a room here in Talegaon, and they can't even provide hot water. It comes out at 30 degrees, which isn't cold, but it sure as hell isn't hot either. The showerhead is some awful busted-up piece of shit that is unusable. I've yet to encounter toilet paper at any hotel here, though there is always a holder on the wall for some reason. Hope you're ready to go native and let the shitwater trickle down your legs.

Besides, in Thailand the hotels always honored my reservation, no matter how discounted the rate was. In India, the discounted rates offered by Agoda are all scams, and most hotels refuse to honor them. On the flip side, when the simplest daily activities are an ordeal, you become deeply grateful for the periods of rest instead of getting bored and discontent with the meaninglessness of it all.
