Looking to Travel Africa in the spring. Ive been everywhere continent wise except for Africa. Ive narrowed down my choices too:KenyaUgandaRwandaSenegalTanzania Safety and decent infrastructure are my biggest concerns. I'm white so I'll know I'll stick out (which will be a plus in some cases). Want to explore as much as possible, especially with a local woman so I don't get tourist taxed on every little thing. Ive searched a lot of info using 4plebs, Kenya seems to be hit or miss but looks like the most recommended. Looking at coombasa rather than Nariobi. Rwanda looks very interesting considering the history. Senegal I've heard is expensive. Uganda might be the dark horse here and not a clue about Tanzania. Any tips or experiences is much appreciated! I also only speak English, no French.
>>2852169Just do Kenya. If you've heard this is hit and miss, then what you think is going to be the variance in other places? Especially when you're in places which don't speak English?
>>2852169I've heard Ghana is a good shout if youre looking for safety and authenticity without all the bullshit African Gap Yar charity tourism shite
There are places you can visit in Kenya that would get you kidnapped or killed, avoid the north where pastoralists roam freely with guns raiding each other for cattle, or the north east near somalia's border. Most of the population live within 100 to 300 km within the mombasa to uganda railway. The rest is arid and empty. Tanzania has become a political hotbed, the government will probably restrict your movements. Uganda is more like Kenya but less arid and more crowded. Rwanda is a police state masquerading as some democracy. I have no idea about senegal.
Senegal is good because corruption and bureaucratic BS is almost nonexistent which is impressive given all their neighbors are failed states. Also visa is jut a free stamp on arrival. Otherwise everything there is mid, the food, the nature, cities, all mid.I have not been to Ghana but it looks like the easiest place to rent a motorbike without hassle so I may go do that this spring.
>>2852925Is Senegal realistic without French?
>>2852944no, it'd be a disaster. But you could learn french, you know. Or join me in Ghana, serious offer.
>>2852169I'm Kenyan and I live in Kenya. Uganda just had elections and tensions are high right now. Same for Tanzania.Kenya is the more expensive of the east African countries but you'll have fun if you can afford it. The girls here really aren't worth it for what they'll put you through though imo. Rwanda is pretty chill and the girls are pretty hot on average, and life there is pretty cheap, but I have no clue what there is to do there. And wear a condom anywhere near East and Southern Africa. I know nothing about Senegal but if your French is up to par feel free to partake. In a perfect world, I'd go to Uganda.
>>2856507What's the most based shit you can do in Kenya? Is anything happening by the South Sudanese border?Lake Turkana looks interesting geographically? Is it all tribal shit up here? Anything to do?The beaches near Kimayu look interesting and off the beaten path? Do Somalis have control over this stretch? What's going on around Marsabit and 'Lake Paradise'? any vibes?any hidden geographical and cultural gems?
>>2856513>What's the most based shit you can do in Kenya?Sluts, drink good, eat good, spy on animals, climb mountains, safaris. >Is anything happening by the South Sudanese border?I don't have much experience with things up north but it's definitely off the beaten path. Mighty hot though. It's technically a desert up there. >Lake Turkana looks interesting geographically? Is it all tribal shit up here? Anything to do?Lake Turkana is pretty impressive desu. Lake Victoria is pretty interesting too. In fact we've got several decent lakes over here. Lake satirists would have a blast. >The beaches near Kimayu look interesting and off the beaten path? Do Somalis have control over this stretch?I'm assuming you mean Kismayu. That's in Somalia mate. >What's going on around Marsabit and 'Lake Paradise'? any vibes?Seems interesting but I don't know much about it. It's definitely off the beaten path that's for sure. >Aany hidden geographical and cultural gems? The Coast has beautiful culture and amazing food. I often feel like that's overlooked in favour of bitches and beaches. The rift valley is pretty incredible too: just stay away from the bandit hotspots. Also most people go to the South for game reserves and safaris but Nairobi itself has a lot of animal and nature-related stuff to do. Street food if you've got the stomach for it.

>>2856521Thanks man. Definitely on the agenda one day. So much diversity in Kenya. Looking at the map amazes me, how many little niche spots you've got. I like experiencing different ecoregions/types of geography, and trying to do a unique activity in each which can't be matched. Kenya looks like it has lots of potential! Was looking at Kiawyu Island, right up on the north coast, near the big river delta/lamu archipelago. Places like this fascinate me for some reason. Something about a frontier coastline which is different. You just get that dusty non-government feeling.
>>2856524Oh yeah that's in Kenya. The whole coastline is pretty chill. That coast life really calms people down. All the best anon. Hope you come here one day and have a great time.
Seen more /an/ content in Uganda than I ever have in Kenya, better hospitality too, but the people in Kenya have been cooler and you have more of a variety of places you can go. Both never felt dangerous but I had guides. Wouldn't suggest you go further north than Murchison if you pick Uganda though, and do it before Museveni dies.
why not namibia? i've been eyeing namibia
>>2856753Had a colleague who went there, rented some 4x4 and just ragged it around the coast. Flipped it, and needed the company to bail her out, kek. Pics looked epic from what I remember. Was 10-15 years ago.Doesn't help, but I know it's a "thing" for tourism.
>>2856753Namibia is just budget south africa but desert and empty. Botswana is better, has more animals, better parks tonnes of elephants, etc.
>>2852169Redpill me on Zambia please
>>2852169>Safety and decent infrastructure are my biggest concernsThen I'd go to Rwanda. It's the only sub-Saharan African country you can wander around the city safely at night. Everywhere else they say don't walk outside after 6pm. I highly recommend a visit to Lake Burera, and stay at La Paillotte Cyuza Island. It's an island owned by an old Italian dude. You can pop over the border to Uganda for a much cheaper gorilla trek. I've been to all those countries except Senegal if you want advice
If you had to pick one of these countries to travel to, which would you pick? Mozambique, Angola, Cameroon.
>>2852169>Senegaltotal shithole, very racist and the poorest from your selection.DONT go to Senegal
>>2856507> Rwanda is pretty chill and the girls are pretty hot on average, and life there is pretty cheapi would like to go to Rwanda to see mountain gorillas. But i heard Kigali is extremely expensive. Also, are there any thailand-like destinations in Africa...if you know what i mean?
>>2858975Is you're white and/or rich pretty much all of Africa is Thailand. No ladyboys though I'm afraid, except maybe in South Africa.
>>2858975>thailand-like destinations in Africa...Not really anymore. Covid shut it all down and white coomers never went back.If you want nightlife+African women try certain parts of Dubai. Africans from every country go there to work.
Kenya is legit nicer and cleaner than all SEA shitholes. Surprised me myself.
>>2859039I disagree. I lived in kenya for 6 months. Some parts of Nairobi and Mombasa were very clean and tidy, but most of the country is in a wretched state true Africa tier poverty. The constant overbearing presence of large numbers of flies everywhere outside constantly made it feel much less "nice" and "clean" compared to most spots I've been to in SEA.The flies my man. I can't do it. The flies are a big reason why I left. No peace ever from the flies.
In fact any time I begin to miss east Africa I sit down and remind myself "remember the fucking flied?"Oh yes I remember. Absolutely hellish. Those poor people living with that shit.
>>2859049They probably followed you around because you are full of shit.
>>2859039Thailand has flyovers in the most insignificant crossroads villages out in the provinces. Nearly all rural highways are paved wide enough for two cars to pass without slowing. And everything is very cheap out there as well, because all the public improvements are funded by tourism revenue. If you think rural Africa is anything like this, either from a development perspective or a cost perspective, you're in for a big shock.
>>2859283You forgot that it's horribly humid too.
>>2859286Both Africa and South/Southeast Asia have a predominantly wet-dry climate, with coastal humidity staying high except during outflow wind events, and interior humidity varying hugely from arid to muggy over the course of the year. Equatorial regions excepted, they are humid and rainy year round.Madagascar anon claimed to have gone adventuring all across the country for barely over 1000 euros a month. Evidently Africa can be done for cheap, but you're gonna have to go native. No surprise there. But unlike India, which has pretty strict boundaries of social conduct all things considered, sub-Saharan Africa seems a free for all where the boldest Africans are the alpha males, and you are the white intruder in your teritory who must hand over money to assuage hostility and be welcomed as a friend. Not attacking and robbing you is considered a "service" that should be paid for, and never in trifling amounts like 60 cents either. Ten dollars or more, now we're cool.
>>2859303Who even mentioned india? Do you know how many indians are in africa, trying to escape their overpopulated shithole?
>>2857515Mozambique because east Africa seems cool but don't take my opinion seriously because I don't know.
>>2859047are they as bad as the horse flies out west? those fuckers cut you open and lick your blood
