Even with the hookers, I'd say Pats is a more chill place to go for a walk. There is stuff outside nightlife to do. It's got that gorgeous wood temple, and some other fun touristy things. You could train at the Fairtex gym if you like muay thai.

BKK has more to do. It has some nice parks. If you're into the giant Asian malls, it's better. If you're after touristy stuff and novelties, BKK is better. But traffic is crazy. My poor Grab driver said that she prefers taxiing around Chonburi(Pattaya) because there's less traffic and things are more relaxed. Everything smells like motorbike exhaust, and BTS/MRT aren't nearly as comprehensive as the transit networks of somewhere like a big Japanese city.

If you're into museums, you'll be disappointed imo.
