It's probably the only place on earth that is literally worse than India. Saw a documentary on it and it the environment of the country is pretty fucking grim. Their own major river was considered biologically dead. We need to stop allowing remittance and immigration from these countries until they fix their shit. And yes I know westoid countries are majorly to blame too as their mega corps poison these rivers.

I was there in 2019 and had a great time. I think people just want Bangladesh to be worse than it really is because it's fun to imagine an impossibly overpopulated and polluted asshole of the world.
It's not worse than India. People are incredibly nice and nobody gave a fuck that I was a tourist, unless it was to charge me 80¢ for a tuktuk ride instead of the local rate of 50¢.
Yes the city was poorer and shittier than anywhere I've been in Africa or SEA but that's exactly what I expected so whatever. The countryside is beautiful, though overpopulated of course.

Any places in the countryside that you recommend? Bangladesh is a dream trip for me (as ridiculous as that sounds) and I want to see not just the worst the country has to offer like every other tourist who goes to Dhaka, but also the best.

Glancing over the map, Rangamati looks cool.

Bangladesh is poorer than India and almost as dirty. But I enjoyed it a lot more because the people were a lot more hospitable and nobody was trying to surround or scam me.
