As a brit who wants to visit the US one day, what should I know as a tourist?
Every major city is non-white, filthy, homeless, no culture, no history. If you want to see the freak show, then visit NYC, Philly, CHI, LA, SF, Semi-big cities I would recommend: -Miami for weather, nightlife, a booming city, thicc latinas (the good whiteish kind, not brown mexicans), conservative state-Nashville - country music/southern culture, conservative, a booming city, white people -Boston - still very white, has the most authentic sense of old American culture/history, great parks, walkable -Rural New England is white and great-South Carolina in the summer for great coastline and southern atmosphere -Nature and national parks are the best thing America offers for tourists - Yellowstone, Zion, Yosemite, Glacier. You could rent a car and drive around the Mountain West -West Coast - San Diego, Santa Barbara, Orange County. PNW can be nice in the summer, stick to the nature unless you want to be with hipsters in SEA/Portland
>>2858893like the other anon said, it's worthwhile to rent a car and see what's between the big cities unless you have 2 weeks or more, don't expect to leave the region where your arrival city isif you're here in the summer, check if there's a state or county fair you can check out
>>2858893Nashville
don't expect to drive between the big cities. the US is much bigger than europeans realize and each state is like it's own country in Europe with different cultures, foods, etc.
>>2858952>each state is like it's own country in Europe with different cultures, foods, etc.ah yes mcdonalds regional items, such culture.
>>2858957mcdonald's doesn't have regional items in the US. pretty much the same no matter what state you're in.
>>2858893You need a car. There really isn't such thing as a budget option anymore. Accommodation is eye wateringly expensive for how mediocre it is.
America is over priced and honestly isn’t worth visiting. As other anons of pointed out, the national parks are worth visiting if you’re into nature, but the cities are old and shitty. The night life is nothing but nigger and nigger fuckers. And overall you’ll be paying for over priced Cisco frozen food and shitty hotels. Just go to Japan or SEA. As an American, I’ll only vacation in Asia or Florida because my parents have a nice house in Naples and a deep sea fishing boat.
>>2858893Why the fuck would you want to visit the US now? Seems like a dystopian hellhole>"as a britcuck"Never mind
>>2859037I've always been fascinated by it. Its kind of incredible how such a young country in terms of history grew to be so powerful in such a short span of time. I want to visit texas ideally as I feel that would be the most authentic american experience. I feel like coastal and large cities are more geared for tourists and I want to avoid that.
>>2859064Do you know anyone in Texas? It's not a very fun state to visit if you don't know anybody there, because nearly all of the state is private property, and that's where most of the good times happen...with friend groups in a backyard or house party, not with random strangers in a public setting. Only a few cities in Texas have a thriving downtown with bars, leisure dining and other activities.>>2859027American hotels really aren't as expensive as you like to believe, and even the cheap rooms are usually large and fully furnished. However, the budget rooms are gonna be smelly and degraded by the filthy obese pigs who stay in them.Airbnb room rentals are a great way to meet American hosts and stay in beautifully furnished, unique guest rooms with some of the softest beds you've ever enjoyed in your life. The hosts can be picky, but being white, articulate and British will give you a HUGE leg up. Heartland American women in particular find Brits to be very charming. Bonus points if your airbnb profile pic is attractive. >>2859036America does have very high quality food, but you have to pay a fuckton of money to eat it. You want a meal for only $20? That's gonna get you $5 worth of Sysco goyslop ingredients. The rest goes to employee wages, building rent, investor dividends, and all that good stuff. America absolutely reams with overhead costs. >>2858952Nope, there's barely any difference between neighboring states as opposed to neighboring countries in Europe. Different football teams, that's about it.
Hundreds of thousands of people tour America by motorbike every summer. Many of them pass by my workplace on the county highway that leads over a 12100' mountain pass, big saddlebags and all-weather outfits. You don't need a car to see America unless you're a wimp who hates wind and needs A/C while driving around. Chicks dig motorbike guys as well.
>>2858893We brush our teeth here.
>>2858893Skip the whole mainland and just go to Hawaii.
>>2858893>As a britYou're brown
>>2859073>Airbnb >202XYou have no idea what you're talking about. >You want a meal for only $20? That's gonna get you $5 worth of Sysco goyslop ingredients. That's not the problem. The problem is that the pricing model that used to be exclusive to stadiums and theme parks came to the casual restaurant: a race to provide the least value for your dollar.
>>2859064>I want to visit texas ideally as I feel that would be the most authentic american experienceYou can have fun there, I recommend it. You'll have to drive but if you can afford and accept that I think you'll get your money's worth, there's a lot to see there.>>2859073>It's not a very fun state to visit if you don't know anybody there, because nearly all of the state is private propertyRetard>>2859078>Chicks dig motorbike guys as well.Boomer fantasy
No one’s mentioned Vegas. Don’t go expecting Rat Pack glamour and cheap hookers. More like zombie boomers, hordes of mystery meat and a bunch of ripoffs. Maybe some anon can give you better advice but I’m just not into casinos. For me Vegas is good for a cheap flight and rent a car to explore national parks in the Southwest, Death Valley is favorite but you should only go in the colder months. I’ve heard of Brits doing sex tourism in American college towns. Just pick one in flyover country with lots of corn fed blondes instead of blue haired slags. Work that accent and tell them you’re the Duke of Chuddington or something. Austin is a meme but probably the most interesting city in Texas and about the only one that’s walkable with some transit. Dallas and Houston have some interesting neighborhoods but they’re so spread out. The Hill Country has nice scenery and quaint small towns. Like everywhere else in burgerland be prepared to drive.
>>2859103In merry old England, there's a village pub every two miles. But in Texas, you can go hundreds of miles with nothing to see besides barb-wire fences, scrubby pastures, and dead towns with no leisure activities on offer. Don't fall for Texanon bragging; their state regularly tops the list of most boring cities in America with such standouts as Lubbock and Abilene. Texas coast versus Oregon coast? It's not even a competition.
>>2858893man that flag looks so good in this high res pic. God Bless America.
>>2859191Post hand
>>2858903This is just so retardedYou're going to miss out on the best cities in America just so you can be around a slightly higher percent of white people in fucking Nashville? What a retarded way to travelIf you want white cities, go to Europe. Go to America for the nature, mostly. Its best cities are NY and SF despite everything.
>>2859191You could see some of the best parts of Texas in reasonable time and distance with Austin, San Antonio and the Hill Country. The other big cities have their moments but are mostly gigasprawl. East Texas is like the Deep South for better or worse and West Texas has endless nothing that’s only good if you’re up for the Great American Road Trip. In far west Texas, El Paso is a unique city with Juarez right across the border and Big Bend and Guadalupe Mountains are two of the least visited national parks.
>>2859292West Texas is best Texas. Big Bend has scenery and ecosystems unmatched by any other region of America. Appalachia hard mogs the Texas hill country for altitude, scenic views and natural beauty. The Guadalupe River is hyper lame when compared to the Nantahala or New Rivers. I spent a month marooned in my van in Texas waiting for a copy of the title to arrive at the Laredo post office so I could go down into eastern Mexico (which gigamogs Texas as well).
>>2859247Have you even been to Nashville? Obviously no, so quit spouting off about places you've never visited.
>>2858893Its really expensive at the moment. Unless your a high earner, or you have an autistic obsession with an America only thing (elvis, disney, twin peaks, hollywood etc) then its not worth going as you can experience whatever in other countries for cheaper. Americans do unironically earn like double the amount we do for the same jobs, often more than double, so they can somewhat take the price rises. And remember things dont cost whats shown because the tax isn’t included. A car is absolutely mandatory, public transport is simply non existent in 99% of the country, and the parts it does exist, its barely functional. And you can’t walk to places, the infrastructure is such that its actively dangerous for pedestrians as well as deeply unpleasant. Personally id say just wait it out, the internal prices will go down eventually.
>>2858893Wherever you go, find a brochure of local tourism spots then ask 5 or so white locals about which ones are good.
>>2858957Please continue to reinforce ignoramus euro stereotypes, it's funny to us.
>>2859331>the infrastructure is such that its actively dangerous for pedestriansWhy do you pussies just make shit up. Yeah there's not a sidewalk along the side of State Highway 131 in Gershaw County that would benefit 1 trekker per decade. In cities (of all sizes) there are sidewalks and crosswalks.
>>2858922come on dude, more than half of these are exaggerations
come to appalachia!there's gorges that look like nowhere else on earth cities are citiesif you are gonna be in nashville there's all sorts of parks with great hiking just a few hours to the east...
>>2859497I'm going to harper's ferry soon. Any suggestions?>>2859414I've had to do some serious parkour in some places to get around without being hit by a 50 mph car. Also, I've been delayed quite a bit taking the bus because it either didn't come, or came extremely late. Obviously it depends on the city though.
>>2859538>I'm going to harper's ferry soon. Any suggestions?depends what kinda legs you gotthe hardest hike is loudon heights, haven't done it myself, but it looks to offer an interesting viewmost people hike maryland heights, apparently there's a "straight up" shortcut if you walk over on the main road a bit from where the main trail is, but I cannot endorse that. The main trail gets you a view of the town that is nice, but it is still a steep workout, despite being fairly short. If you want parking next to the trailhead, come on a weekday, and get up early. Otherwise there's a small lot sort of down by the water along the Potomac, the main train station lot (all costs money), and the overflow parking at the ranger station where you have to take a shuttle into town. the main view is just by the train station where you can see the cliffs and the waters meet, that's an easy walk, and there's a bunch of little museums that are HEATED and you can walk in and out of also recommend seeing weverton cliffs if you are in the area, its a moderate hike, a bit longer than maryland heights and a bit less elevation but still plenty with a very interesting 180 degree view of the potomac river just downstream of the main harpers ferryand there's a secret view of the potomac ~ 30 minutes down the road at point of rocks if you cross rt 15 and then start walking uphill near the train station you get a nice view of the bridge and the river I haven't finished that hike cuz last time I did it it had just rained and I was wearing sneakers - its steep and muddy - wear boots
What are the main differences between east and west coast?
>>2858903>recommending Miami, one of the most rotten niggerlicious cities of all in the USNW and NE coasts are kino though
>>2858893Stay far away from this place.
>>2858952>don't expect to drive between citiesi had a dutch roommate in college, small school in portland oregon. his family came to visit over spring break one year. his parents rented a car planning to take a day trip to see the grand canyon. we explained the grand canyon is 18-20 hours away depending on traffic and they didn't believe us. they thought you could get basically anywhere in the western US in 3-4 hours driving. the dad was an engineer, forget what the mom did but she wasn't dumb. they couldn't comprehend how large the US is...driving for 5+ hours and being in the same state is a foreign concept to euros
If I were planning a trip to the US for the first time from the UK, I would do a west coast trip in early June or late September. I'd fly into LAX, rent a car, do some beaches in Orange County, Las Vegas. Hit some national parks in Utah, Zion, Bryce Canyon, Arches. Cruise down to the Grand Canyon and Sedona. Then loop back over to LAX to fly out. Or drive up from Orange county and do Yosemite and then Lake Tahoe. Then cruise over and hit San Francisco. Come back and loop down route 1 from San Francisco all the way back to LA stopping in Capitola, Monterrey, Big Sur, Carmel, Avila, Pismo and Santa Barbara. They just reopened route 1. There are parks and waterfalls all along route 1. It's the best drive in the US. LAX will be the cheapest airport. Rent a car from Turo to save money. Bring a tent and camp along route 1 in the park campgrounds for cheap. There are lots of free campgrounds in California, Arizona and Utah. freecampsites.net is amazing.
>>2859064>as I feel that would be the most authentic american experienceas a foreigner, I thought Alabama and New York to be the most "USA" feeling places. In Huntsville for instance- my temporary work friends and I went nightclubbing. There were genuine racists in there. They weren't letting niggers/blacks in the nightclub and were telling them to fuck off, but they were cool with Asianbro here. We were walking around downtown in that area and there were genuine white supremacist/fascist gangs like something out of "A Clockwork Orange" if you are familiar with the Droogs. In New York, you get to see the sights like you've always seen inn movies. So I thought that was insane. To see the city culture have a life of its own, complete with local district speaking "accent" and dialect was wild.>Texasyou can experience it here as well. Rodeos and country concerts are great as well as the food. Largest automotive freeway and road system where you could be driving 8 hours straight and STILL be in Texas. Go down south to San Antonio and they'll have cattle transfer/walk events where they move all the livestock to a different farm using town roads. Its insane.
>>2860227That’s a big question because it’s a big country but I’ll try to sum it up. The stereotype is that the west coast is more “laid back” but then you have giga cities like LA and the Bay Area, while the east has tropicalismo Miami and laid back southern culture in Georgia and the Carolinas. New England is very cozy and ultra white outside of the cities while the big northeastern cities are full of brusque people and attitood. There’s still a surprising amount of nature even an hour’s drive or train ride from NYC and Appalachia and undeveloped coastal areas are great. Back to the west coast, the Pacific Northwest has beautiful nature and is very white but also liberal except in rural areas. Cool cities but a lot of homeless and opioids. The west just seems bigger, with lots of nature in between cities. Northern California is like southern Oregon until you get close to the Bay Area, then it’s more Latino the farther south you go, which is true for Florida as well. Any more specific questions?
>>2860307>In Huntsville for instance>We were walking around downtown in that area and there were genuine white supremacist/fascist gangs like something out of "A Clockwork Orange" if you are familiar with the Droogs.Lmao
>>2860372>Lmaoyeah, it was so surreal that people still do that shit. Real shit black boots and white clothing with suspenders. But my white friend and I were trying to get late night food after drinking, and those weirdos were also there. We almost got into a fight with those wannabes who shoulder checked my friend. I wanted it to happen just so I could dirty up their white cosplay outfit. Alabama was something else man.
>>2860412You sound too retarded to even be in Alabama my droog
>>2860421>You sound too retarded to even be in AlabamaI was in Huntsville temporarily working my aerospace job and tinkering on defense missile targeting technology. It was such a white people place, they barely had four bars downtown to do degen shit. It was that cleaned up in Hunstville.
>>2860301speaking as a californianon, these are both good reccs>They just reopened route 1fuckin finally, wonder if that means PCH is going to be busier with traffic this summer than usual from pent up demand
>>2858893Just go to the national parks then leave. The cities are not what are worth visiting.
>>2860342>Any more specific questions?Yeah, What are cultural norms and social expectations that I need to be prepared for? Something I hear parroted online is how if you get pulled over by a cop, you'll immediately get fired upon, because they'll see that as a threat. Shit like that.
>>2860903Correction: You will get fired upon, if you Immediately LEAVE the vehicle as soon as you are pulled over.
>>2860903If you see flashing lights behind you, pull over to the nearest safe place. Officer Friendly will saunter over. Roll down your window and keep your hands in view. “Can I see your license and registration? Anon, do you realize you were doing 50 in a 35 zone?” Give him your stuff without a lot of fumbling around or sketchy movements. Don’t be a kissass or a smartass, just yes or no answers and maybe you can play up the clueless foreigner a bit. The cop will go back to his car and run you through the computer, which he’s probably already done with your license plate to see if you’re a mass murderer driving a stolen car. Unless you’ve done something really egregious he’ll come back, give you a stern warning, and tell you to drive safe. Histrionic stories about American cops gunning down innocent minorities are bs. However, sudden movements, jumping out of the car or driving away will cause them to react and draw their weapon. I hate cops like any other red blooded American but just don’t act like a retard and they won’t bother you.
>>2858893In current day, you should be either be careful about the contents of your phone, or get a separate phone and social media accounts and use them for 5 years before ever going to Amerikkka. I have only been to Florida and Texas, and both are quite nice. You need a driving licence and a rental car to make the most of them though.
>>2860903>Yeah, What are cultural norms and social expectations that I need to be prepared for?are you 12? If you didn't know, Americans enjoy their privacy. Don't get in someone's personal space. Don't get in their way if they need to work or make money. Don't get in the way of their money. If it isn't your business, don't dip your toes into it and mind your own. Don't talk to or help the police in any way, shape or form. Don't trust blacks or Mexicans here. When traveling between states using a vehicle, try not to stop in small towns in between, even for bathroom or gas. Many people are hostile there, but they wont tell it to your face. Just because you're white, doesn't grant you impunity from crime. Be stoic and don't show your mental state in public, don't be smiling everywhere like a tard. Do not trust anyone, especially with money business.
>>2860903More American cop lore. There’s so many layers of law enforcement here. State troopers patrol major highways and are well trained and professional. Big city cops usually reflect the demographics of the city and vary widely. Despite their reputation, NYPD aren’t that bad while New Orleans cops are corrupt and incompetent. In Vegas they just want you to spend money and not make trouble. Small town and rural cops are not very bright and where you might run into trouble. Many towns are “speed traps”—traffic ticket mills where they’ll write you up for anything. You’re just a paypig, they don’t want to shoot you. Cops here won’t try to shake you down and they won’t take bribes. They deal with a lot of schizos, tweakers and all the guns so they’re always a little edgy. Racial shit happens but it’s overblown. Most cops are jaded race realists. A bunch of black guys in a rust bucket cruising an affluent neighborhood will get pulled over, just like they assume a white guy in the ghetto is there for dope or hookers. Laws for fun stuff like guns and weed vary widely from one jurisdiction to another. Just be aware. Park rangers and wildlife officers are friendly and helpful to tourists as long as you’re not a retard trashing nature. Then there’s rent-a-cops, private security who may have a badge and gun but no real authority though they often have a big inferiority complex and will go Robocop if you fuck with them. Overall, they’re not as violent or corrupt as some countries but man we have a lot of pigs here.
>>2860903100 unarmed people are killed in the US per year by cops in a country of 400,000,0000 million people. Of that 100, nearly every single person violently resisted arrest. When you really break it down, maybe a dozen people a year who are killed by cops didn't deserve it. The real threat is black people and Hispanics. Blacks and Hispanics are responsible for at least 10,000 murders per year in the US.
>>2859497Everytime I've been to Nashville it has been pouring rain. 3x I've been there.
>>2860908>>2860931Security guards will be the least of OP's concerns are they're the least likely to use physical force against you. Often they're in places where tourists want to be so unless you're causing problems such as breaking rules or trespassing, you'll never run afoul of them. And if you do cross paths with them, 9 times out of 10 it's going to be "Ok you need to leave" and if you just leave they won't take any further action. This is too difficult for a a fair amount of the population here to process, so they pitch a fit, resist, get arrested and hauled off to jail when they were literally given a chance to walk away.Bodycam videos show that happening over and over in places like Disney World with tons of security guards (who can restrain and remove you, depending on the location and their own policies). Every time private security guards physically put their hands on people it's because they're being belligerent and causing problems. Even then it's basically a containment action until police arrive.I have no idea why foreigners are scared of the police & law enforcement in the US--unless they're up to illegal activity. If you aren't acting like a retard the chance you'll have to deal with them is close to 0.
>>2860992>100 unarmed people are killed in the US per yearAnd most of those are “suicide by cop”— people who want to die and act batshit crazy to have public servants do the job rather than pills, a noose or a tall building.
Since driving is essentially mandatory in the country, what are the rules of the road that a foreigner needs to know?
>>2861286Just stay to the right if you’re driving slowly.
>>2858952Not enough people have mentioned the food. I'd say Chicago, NYC, and New Orleans are the best regional dining destinations.Chicago gets you Deep Dish Pizza, Italian Beef Sandwiches, Chicago Dogs, the BEST Steaks, great Mexican food, and access to most regional styles of American BBQ.NYC gets you NY Pizza, Philly Cheese Steak Sandwiches, Coney Dogs, food carts, American Italian Restaurants, and closer access to fresh New England Seafood. New Orleans Creole and Cajun are the most unique American food of all, with nothing else quite like it. It's also got to easy access to American Southern Cooking. But I wouldn't recommend it to a first time visitor to the US.I give West Coast states props for their really good fast food chains. West Coast Oysters are also my favorites, especially Mirada Bay Oysters. West Coast Oysters tend to be mellower with an almost buttery flavor, while East Coast have a stronger briney flavor.
I would add to this that while in USA you should take advantage of clothing less accessible outside the states. Buy some red wing boots, quoddy mocs, pendleton wool shirts, ll bean chamois shirts, tony lama cowboy boots, buck mason tee shirts, leatherman multitool, all of these will be a lot cheaper here than if you attempted to import them to yurostan.
>>2861355lol bullshitpeople will tail you on multi lane highways if you dare do that, lots of people are getting off at the next exit and will drive 8 ft behind you if you don't go 10 over the limit, some aren't even exiting and just want someone to tail for funamerican drivers are insanewhat you need is a big light up sign that flashes STOP TAILING ME when you press a button
>>2861286Go 10mph faster than the posted limit unless you are in the south, then NEVER exceed 5mph over the limit. In the west stay the fuck in the right lane except to pass and in the east enjoy hell because driving anywhere in the east is a fucking nightmare of dipshits.
>>2861549>Go 10mph faster than the posted limit unless you are in the south, then NEVER exceed 5mph over the limit.Lol
>>2861539Sounds like insurance fraud. Which is not exclusive to one region lr time
>>2861555no, just a hyper-aggressive confrontational culture where people are deeply offended by you going too slowly and the roads are narrow and choked with traffic but hell even I do not fully understand the mystery of the people who tail you on the highway when there's room to pass. It's not exactly a friendly country to stop at someone's house and ask for directions and plenty of people have signs in their driveway suggesting they will get violent if you so much as turn around in their driveway, not to mention all the no trespassing signs. It's a very corporate, hostile, aggressive place with lots of rules and people keen to enforce them.
>>2861586>It's a very corporate, hostile, aggressive placeyou just sound like a gigantic faggot, really. USA is a massive place, with different kind of people all throughout. Its easy to avoid the areas with excessive poverty or black people/Mexican people. Pretty much just don't get in people's way about time or their money and you're good.
>>2861588good luck not getting in people's way when its that crowded and they refuse to widen the roads for 50+ years when the population triples
>>2861589>when its that crowded and they refuse to widen the roadsyeah try not living where the blacks and Mexicans live there, Paco. Maybe you might actually enjoy the USA like the rest of us
Londoner here actually considering moving to Seattle in the long term with my wife and starting a family there. Is it a good idea?Tech salaries are higher and I’m tired of living the big city life.I know that Redmond and Bellevue are the recommended areas.
>>2861601>Is it a good idea?have you been living under a rock? No. For tech go into Texas or weirder states like New Hampshire. Get away from Mexicans, black folk and the strange Marxist weirdos. Surely, you'd want to provide your child a good education- so pick a hood with high-ranking schools.
>>2861610For tech money, San Francisco and Seattle are better than everywhere else in America. San Francisco is at the top, but too competitive and expensive. Austin in Texas is getting good, but is probably too laid back and not a lot of scope for growth.Seattle seems to be good middle ground.
>>2861650Except you would be living in san francisco or seattle. I work for isps and we had methheads break into a facility and rip out all the cables and take out an entire suburb town between seattle and tacoma. If you are going to live in wa or or you don't want to be close to the population centers.
>>2861586>It's not exactly a friendly country to stop at someone's house and ask for directionsbullshitDon't drive up a long driveway in the middle of nowhere but if it's a suburban area nobody's going to shoot you for knocking at the door
>>2861601Actually sick of people dissing US Cities. San Francisco is amazing and the beaches there are nicer than most, seriously you would be shocked.I would say the worst thing about Seattle is finding a wife because everyone there is gay, or mental disorders or career obsessed. Now that you have a wife and kids you will fall in love with it.
>>2862062Wouldn’t crime be very limited in neighbourhoods that are family oriented?>>2862259Thanks anon. I’m considering SF too, but the housing and living costs are so high that I may be better off in Seattle.SF does make sense if career ambitions are the most important. Not for me though.

>>2862253Used to be you could wave at people sitting on their front porches and strike up a friendly conversation. Most white Americans see a rambler on foot as a druggie, criminal, mentally ill or some combo of the three. Doors are always locked, and no, nobody wants a stranger knocking on their door at any time, ever. Half the country will answer the door with a gun in their hand even in the suburbs.>>2862259SF still has more than its share of rot, even if it has a unique aesthetic (which of course is mogged by cities all over the world, but compared to fucking Sacramento or Salt Lake City it feels special).
>>2861586Latin America is 10x more rude and aggressive than the USA. Both on the road and in personal interactions. Americans are more pent-up and prone to unpredictable outbursts, while Latins are more uninhibited and casually rude/aggressive/not giving a fuck.Getting outraged over other people not following rules is peak whiteness, and is gradually dying out in America as it becomes more diverse.
>>2859301Every time I've been there it's been pouring torrential rain. I assume it is like that all the time now. I still enjoyed driving around the cumberland gap area as well but Tennessee is just where it fucking rains all the time in my mind.
Is there anything else that I need to know about the culture and/or people? I heard that the price tag of items in stores isn’t exactly what you pay at the counter, as there is tax added to it aswell. Anything like that?
>>2863252There’s “sales tax” added to purchases in stores and restaurants which varies from state to state and even in local municipalities. It’s not that much, maybe 5%, and isn’t charged on all items, like some states don’t charge for real food in stores but do for prepared food or junk. Then there’s our infamous tipping culture, where you’re expected to willingly pay an extra 15-20% at restaurants that goes to the server. Lately they’ve been trying to do this for things that don’t even have someone serving you other than taking your money. You’re a dick if you don’t tip that diner waitress but just ignore it for this other crap.
>>2858903I heard Nashville was a shithole.
>>2859299>compared to the NantahalaI rafted the Nantahala and found it slightly disappointing. The last rapid was hard but most of them were kinda mid. I mean, this was 10 years ago. I should try the New. It's been hard to find a just right river. The Yough (upper) was too hard and technical, just a lot of really narrow chutes.
>>2863263You are doing it wrong. I've never been to Nashville proper cuz there's a fuckton of cool hiking and gorges 2-3 hours east and south of Nashville that should be consuming your time.

It's the best drive in the US.Honestly this is better of the two, you'd basically see all that's worth seeing in California (besides Humboldt county) and it's a realistic amount of driving with minimal doubling back. California is very expensive and full of shitty people but Yosemite is definitely worth seeing if you're going to actually camp or do longer day hikes. But you'll feel like you've seen everything you need to see in California without feeling a need to go back. The other national parks in Utah and Arizona are worth their own trip if you want to take the time to actually see them.
>>2858903>nashville>white, conservativekek good one
>>2859064If you want the most authentic American experience, go to the midwest. Just the state of ohio is a microcasm of the country. Its not super interesting, but still the most american state. Texas is very distinct and not like the rest of the country. For you Britbongs, think of it like Yorkshire, but worse.
>>2863296>Texas is very distinctBeing the Midwest but even fatter and being the South but with more Mexicans and being Mexico but in the USA aren't distinct characteristics. It's not 1910 anymore, Texas's most distinct feature is how disgustingly sprawled out its cities are.
America shouldn't be treated like one country from a tourism perspective, but instead viewed like around 10 countries. >GreenCascadia>Dark BlueGreater California >YellowFreelandia>RedGreater Texas>LavanderPrairie Palace>Light BlueLakeland>PurpleAppalachia >OrangeDixieland>BlackFlorida>WhiteNortheast Corridor Explore one at a time, don't try to eat the whole country in one bite. For Euros I suggest the Northeast Corridor, loaded with monuments, easy to navigate public transit, still a lot of good nature.California is good, the train service leaves a lot to be desired, but if you rent a car it's a great state with a lot of good nature and cities.Florida is great if you like bizarre stuff, amusement parks and nature. For a relatively conservative state they're quite conservationist. The other 7 regions are less designed for tourists but can all give you great experiences, but focus on one at a time, I emphasize that. America is very big from a European perspective.
>>2858903>no culture, no history.you might not like something but its impossible for a human settlement to have no culture and no history
As a bong, I'd recommend doing like 4 days in NYC, and 6 in Las Vegas. By then there's nothing else to do. NYC is a great experience for a few days, but by the 5th you will be completely sick of it.
>>2863528It's mad how they were blessed with the greatest landmass to base a large country on IN THE WORLD, and just completely wasted it on copy paste grid cities.
>>2863526Tell that to Scottsdale, Arizona.
>>2863528This is what someone who saw everything from the World Trade Center Memorial to Central Park would say.
>>2863558Aka Phoenix aka the capital of the southwestern US.
>>2861601>>2861610All of that lets out Texas. It's full of browns of one stripe or another, and Austin is where all the tech is and it's full of commies. >schoolsIn the US the public school system has been destroyed by politics so anybody that can sends their kids to private schools.
>>2858893just don't go into a ghetto. What cities are you planning to head to, sights you wanna see?
>>2861601Yes, obviously>>2861610You're coping. Austin and DFW are patently second rate compared to SF+Seattle and the NE Corridor for career opportunities. The Texas Triangle is just the only cities between south of the Mason Dixon line between NC research triangle and West Coast that aren't complete dogshit for tech.
>>2861610>Move to weird New Hampshire I can't tell if you've never been east of Pittsburgh, north of the Mason Dixon, or both but you're a clueless retard regardless.
>>2858903>>2858923What do you guys recommend seeing in Nashville?
>>2860342>New England is very cozy and ultra white>ultra whiteLol. Lmao, even.
>>2861024>I have no idea why foreigners are scared...>Unless they're up to illegal activityMost of them are, and that's why they're scared. The rest of them only know America by Hollywood proxy and have the same understanding Hollywood does of law enforcement, because Hollywood is also usually up to illegal activity. They just make enough money that nobody cares.
>>2862326>Used to be you could...Used to be America was all Americans. Now anyone rambling on foot is a druggie, a criminal, mentally ill or brown, which is a combination of all three. Its not personal that everyone answers the door with a gun in their hand. People are risk-averse and will continue to do so until the browns are removed, that's just how things are. It doesn't mean people are anti-social, it just means human beings are survival-minded.
>>2863673This nigga probably rolls the windows up and locks the car doors 15 minutes before he gets into Cedar Rapids
>>2863668Northern New England is one of the whitest regions in the country though not for long with all the forced African resettlement.
>>2863810>Muh AfricansIt's becoming less white because no one under 50 wants to live there except for incel freaks on 4chan.
>>2863658ParthenonPredator's Hockey Gamethat's it. broadway is just for a bunch of idiots to abuse depressants and die in a DWI later that night.t. someone born and raised in Nashville and even worked as a tour guide
>>2858893If you have a posh accent people here (outside of the centers of the biggest, busiest globe point cities) will automatically assume you’re smart and/or interesting. On the downside some will assume you’re gay.Go to a national park. Outside of the interstate system and the mail it’s the one thing we’ve managed to not fuck up yet.
>>2863921Uh if I'm just there anyways because I am passing through and I mostly care about quirky culture or art and not really drinking or sports, what's there to do? I mostly end up hiking near Nashville cuz there's so many spots, but I do wonder if there's anything in the city itself just cuz its such a large place for something at the edge of Appalachia.
>>2863921How far is Dollywood, that's close by right?
>>2863600But what is it like what is Phoenix or Scottsdale? Just a rest stop city on a road between Los Angeles and Albuquerque. A great place to stay so you can be well rested to see other, more interesting things. Nobody is like "Aww remember that Phoenix sound" "Shit Scottsdale isn't that where all those artists lived"
>>2860992Europe as a whole has far more gun deaths and mass shootings per year (such as Ukraine and Russia) than the entirety of the US. Seriously do not go to a ghetto and everything is fine. Euros always pretend everywhere is a ghetto
>>2864302no, that's in the smokies ~ 5 hours se
>>2864304Scottsdale is right near the frank lloyd wright compound where he had an architecture cult. You can do a quick 1.5-3hr hike on camelback, ho to old town and get fucked up and bang a milf or if you're gay scottsdale is also a mecca.
>>2864962>Scottsdale>GayWas it founded by Scott and Dale, two men who headed west because they wanted to live free from society's taboos about male kinship?
>>2864963Funny ass post!
>>2864305>a battlefield has more gun deaths than us!Wow, good job?
>>2858893>As a brit who wants to visit the USUK and US are becoming the same thing
>>2858893Go after Trump leaves office.....ICE is a menace, even to us Brits. Be warned. I wouldn't piss on the USA at this time.
>>2865446I'm canadian and went there a couple of weeks ago. It didn't feel any different compared to when biden was prez, if you weren't listening to the news you wouldn't even know there's an immigration crackdown going on. The whole ICE thing is just overblown by redditors. Anyway as a rule of thumb you should never mess with american law enforcement, just comply if they want to see your passport
