I'm planning on visiting San Jose, Costa Rica this May. And advice by people who have been before or maybe any native Costa Ricans that happen to be browsing?

Bump.
Don't do it anon you'll get stabbed and strangled like that elderly surfer in Cahuita yesterday, happened near a hotel even
>>2859738I went last year and stayed at Manuel Antonio on the Pacific coast. Spent the last night in San Jose, it was okay I guess just another big city like any other.Costa Rica in general is an awesome country. Everything is dirt cheap and geared toward tourism. If you like seafood and fresh fruit, you’ll be in heaven. Most locals understand & speak English well enough. Learning some rudimentary Spanish won’t hurt. End every conversation with “Pura Vida”.They are a very Catholic and conservative country. They aren’t uptight or anything just don’t expect half naked women jiggling their asses in the street. The roads suck. If you’re renting a car get a big beefy SUV with thick tires. Also, drivers just kinda do whatever they want, especially dirtbikes. Shouldn’t be a problem if you’re a safe driver but stay alert at all times. Basically same signage & rules of the road as US / Mexico. It is one of the most beautiful places on earth. Go to a national park, see a waterfall, see a volcano, see a rainforest.
