are there any alternative transportation options when I go vacation in Manila? Last I was there, I was using Grab frequently. But I was embarrassed one time when I was going for a date and I got dropped off by some jank ass riced out Honda City with shitty AC system. How do classy people get around? Private transportation? Yes, there's private transportation/cars available. Public transportation (buses, trikes, jeepneys, etc.) can be difficult to navigate if you don't live in the area and are reluctant to ask questions/spend time figuring things out, especially if you've got money and little time (i.e., on vacation). Grab can be very helpful, but it's not as smooth as having your own temporary private driver, if you want to go that route.

What I would do, unless someone has a better idea, is go to some Facebook Manila group page and make a post asking for a private driver who would be available on-call at 3:00am, and offer something like 3,000php (maybe a bit more or less). What you would do is have the private driver drive you around and stay in the area (or go home until you message him) and take you home at 3am. I've paid for a private driver to drive me from Manila to Batangas for, IIRC, about 3,000php... it was approximately 5 hours of driving.

that's the issue isn't it? When I was in Romania, my buddies and I had a trusted driver that would pick you up, wherever you were and at whatever time, no questions asked. Just drop a pin. But you obviously had to pay for his services. Here in Manila, I think people really trust social media reputation. In FB groups, if you are repeatedly seen posting with people commenting on your "ads" for it, people tend to deem you trustworthy. I wouldn't just randomly get someone. I think this is the hardest part dealing with Filipinos. Some of them are real decent people. But there are those silent and quiet ones- where you don't know if they're going to stab you. You could ask to see a picture of the car the person has and if it's a bad looking car/older model go with someone else. Otherwise, just rolling the dice. Understand though, unless you have citizenship there or are willing to do business through an intermediary corporation, you might find it difficult to own 100% of any land or business ownership. I actually exercise great restraint, compassion, and patience IRL. I will use the word 'apocalyptic' to describe the situation in angeles city, when it comes to the quality of women who were out on the town. It was just a coincidence that I happened to be there valentines day, but I also figured that singles would be out and doing stuff hoping to find a date for tomorrow(today).

It was so bad that I just have to assume the scene is not actually centered on walking street (now called red street), and that attractive or young people go to their own clubs somewhere else, and only the most sleazy and desperate blown out diseased whores wind up in megadance on walking street.

Hammer was a bit better in terms of overall attractiveness level, but the typical 'east asian nightclub' situation was ongoing, with established tables and sequestered women on their phones with snacks and drinks sprawled out, with no dancing going on. Nobody even looked twice at me in hammer, so clearly not the target audience. Still annoying considering I get rubbed up against and flirted with in any other club in SEA, even if its just whores. It's like there was some sort of racial segregation going on that awas hard coded into Hammer. Koreans/Chinese only. Maybe the women present were hostesses and playing by those rules. Didn't stick around to figure it out.
