>be me>younger sister in hs >participates in a "travel club">club consists of basically gathering funds through different means to blow on 1 big final fieldtrip once they graduate high school>sister REALLY wants to go, but she's scared of leaving the country alone (Ive told her multiple times she would be fine, yet insists that I also go along too)This might be an odd thing to propose, but I don't think 10k (usd) is worth spending 2 weeks in Europe. The school covers most of the students through fundraising efforts, but if I had to go, it would be 100% out of pocket of course. I'm wondering If I could take hostels or whatever instead so I could still be there but not spend 10k. Id bet they're going to spend most of their time in publicly accessible places for most of the trip so I can just tag along if I wanted to. I've also been on one of these trips before in the US when I was a minor (for much less though), so I already have an Idea of how much they rush you to see as much shit as possible in the few days when you're in a certain city.
>>286355010k is insaneIncluding flights, you could easily do 2 weeks even in Western Europe for under 3K
>>2863553Yeah that's what Im thinking too. 10k is more than my fucking car if I wanted to sell it lmao.
A 15 day Eurail pass costs 500 dollars and she will most likely see so much more, (plus save thousands)Lots of non Europeans do Eurail so she'll still spend time with people her age regardless
How do you blow 10K in 2 weeks? Is she staying at the George V?
you paying the teachers salary?
>>2863550Gap year trips aren't limited to two weeks like your wagecuck vacations.
>>2863662Its supposed to take place during June an July, when students/faculty get a 2 month vacation between school years.>>2863604This was my biggest concern. but I know Europe has excellent rail. They're going to be in 7 countries, traveling East to West. Starting in Prague or Vienna, then ending in either France or Belgium I believe.>>2863609They stay at pretty nice hotels/reserve tables at restaurants in advance for the tourist group. That's why Im considering the hostel route instead, save a ton on room and board.
>>286355010K in Europe? That is actually insane, just stay at hostels, fly cheap, take local transport and eat cheap, no need to blow that much money.
>>2863550>$10k for two weeksLmfao whatThis is not only one of those godawful rushed eurotrips Americans seem to love, it's also RIDICULOUSLY overpriced. There's a heavy news mag here I like to read from time to time and it always has an ad for an upscale travel agency targeting the bourgeoisie. I always read through it carefully to laugh at the outrageously insane prices. They're still cheaper than the trip your sister is going on.
>>2863870is that conde nast? thast the only one i know
