What travel tidbits have you come to find you can't travel without
>Fork/Spoon/bottle opener combo
Comes in handy more than not
>mini ice tray
Never understand why Europe and some airbnbs don't have these for drinking or just convivence
>desk fan
Makes a meh airbnb so much better
>mouse pad
never understand what it is about Asia and glass or glass surface desks
>rubber bands
makes packing into a smaller suitcase far easier than vac bags
>USB stick with OS install+drivers
Either chromeOS or Windows incase a linux or windows update fucks up
>multiplug wall unit
not sure why but so many places only seem to have 1 plug these days in the worst
>multivitamin solution
heard this was a meme, thought this was a meme, after living in SEA it's not a meme
>spare shoe gel insoles
never realized how quickly some of these can wear down while being out and about to save your feet

A small fan, esp to hot climates or to countries where air con is an afterthought. That in your face fan esp with white noise, is dual purpose to dry off post shower, keep you cool enough to fall sleep some where like Venice or Spain, and to buffer noise.
Metal insulated water bottle for ice cold beverage that stays cold all night bedside, or hot tea all night, or icy all day. Refill from every restaurant throughout the day.
Real noise cancelling headphones.
puffy vest for seat comfort, esp with neck support.
Extreme comfort insoles and firmer soled shoes for cobblestones.

a long USB cable goes a long way when having to deal with inconveniently placed outlets
>>
E-sim cellphone or upgraded cellphone in general
>for years don't want a samshit or itoddler device
>other phones with e-sims seem weirdly expensive, figure my phone just werks
>upgrade last year to A36 (deal with my carrier)
>land and instantly have internet no BS wondering if my flight lands and sim shop open or dealing with 711 SAAARS HERE GOOD DEAL!!!1
>camera isn't half bad meaning I can leave my good shooter in the room
Holy shit, while I get I'm saying goodbye to custom rom's but man so worth it. Seriously 200 bucks will get you a good deal I've found, yeah upgrading kinda sucks for a bit but overall not sure why I kept clinging onto that shit.

Also, if US citizen Google Fi >>>>>>>>> anything else. 20/mo for free wifi calling(something like 20c a min without wifi calling) and texting abroad.
>>

I use Talkatone's free US phone number service for calling my bank or texting my brother back in America (the only person in the world I chat with on a regular basis).

An insulated water bottle is too bulky to carry around in your hand for six hours, IMO. When I take daytrips I bring a throwaway one liter water bottle, maybe a disposable rain poncho, and nothing else.
>fan to block out noise
This works surprisingly well. Earplugs alone don't stop you from hearing that obnoxious dog that won't stop barking next door, but crank a fan up before popping in those earplugs, and now you can rest at last. Here in India, a five-speed ceiling fan is standard in even the cheapest rooms, so traveling with a fan is pointless.
>shoe insoles
You can buy them at a department store in any city.
>hard seats
That's something your ass should get used to. In any case, sitting for too long is not healthy.

A meter long cable has always worked fine for me.
>>
HDMI cable - makes every hotel tv a possible second monitor to dick around with
Ethernet cable - Asia these these are GOAT due to channel saturation and Temu level routers. Had one place where calls were dropping and speeds all over the place with latency, plugged in my ethernet got like 250/250 compared to the 15-25mbps on wifi.
>>
>beryl travel router
>cheap ass tv stick off Amazon with Plex on it, connects to my laptop
>roll up travel blanket, the case is so soft so it's a pillow when stored
>proper $50 eye mask, yes I paid that much, it's worth it, like wearing nothing
>>
>>2864778
Never got the travel router BS, maybe it's just my Xiaomi device but it can bridge a wifi to like 10 devices.
>proper $50 eye mask, yes I paid that much, it's worth it, like wearing nothing
gotta ask wtf kinda mask this is, best come with some kind of ear cancelling shit

Backup phone which is a clone of your real phone, in case your main one gets lost or stolen.
An old used/broken iPhone 6 that you can hand away in case of robbery.

Yes, I always travel with 3 phones. They dont take up much space.

Yeah I do the same, but now with 2 phones
iphone 16 plus - All banking, work, travel apps(hotel/airline/etc), personal backup emails, backup cards and transit cards in wallet, main phone line
Poco X3 NFC(the camera is GOAT with gcam) - drinking, party, oh fuck I need to leave it at a bar for collateral because my card fucked up, taxi/grab/uber main phone

Debating when I head out next month to bring my old iphone 11 or not, it's small as shit but idk. Ever since I got a wallet case for my phones the screen cracks and issues from drops have been far fewer. I kinda feel schizo for taking 3 phones

I have high reliability/security needs and deal with too much bullshit from bad wifi or reception
Main advantage is connection bonding
So I can have seamless failover to the mobile connection if something goes wrong

>Travel items that made travel easier
>>
>>2864868
I get that but you can do that with your phone. Just confused here.Like I have security requirements too that's why I use Wiregaurd to one of my friends homes back in the USA for shit
>>
>>2864941
Phones can't share their VPN connection with hotspot clients unless you're on a rooted android
A travel router makes that much easier especially if you want to set up policy routing as well
They're super small and inexpensive (<100eur) anyway.
>>
>>2865092
I mean pretty sure mine does, I just set my wiregaurd client to route all. Not like a wiregaurd client is too hard to install on a PC anyways
>>
>>2865223
Well if you only have one client a router is indeed pointless but that's a super basic use case
Most phones don't route tether/hotspot clients through their active VPN without root, while it's possible with a proxy server that's rather dodgy.

I use mine to provide routing to different VPNs per client between work and personal devices.
Bonus point is that it can connect to the wired port in hotel rooms in case you get stuck with a corner room with shit wifi.

Unironically the 15 bucks 3x packing cubes. Makes shit nice and tidy.
>>
>>2865496
Does it actually work? The ones I looked at don't seem good as actual vacuum packed good
For organisation its probably good though

A spare phone. You almost certainly have an old one in your house somewhere. Bring it with you and write down + safely store important numbers and log in info. Then if you lose or get your phone stolen, you can just get a cheal local sim and not br left up shits creek.
