i just booked a flight to Hanoi, never been to SE asia. Been all over central america and mexico. I don't do shit for planning, but I've been reading all these SE asia threads and retaining absolutely nothing. The girls see whites in movies and social media, and they associate whites with being handsome and successful. Bonus points for things that whites dislike having but Asians actually prefer (large nose, not flat nose). Being tall and handsome helps, but JBW still means an average guy can punch above his weight. Age gap too, for example - it does matter in Asia despite what boomers say, but it matters less than back home. Again, it lets you punch above your weight.
In June I have a week lined up to hang out with a friend from HCM. They're a nerdy homebody so their plan is we go north to hue, and just, I don't know, eat a lot of food and hang out in a hotel room. which sounds kind of lame to me. Clam rice probably gets boring after the first few days.

It's not like you'll remember a hostel having good showerheads vs meeting a bunch of cool lads who had similar interests to you. That said I always read the worst reviews for any property and they always give me a good idea what to expect. Bad Internet, shit hygiene, noisy dorms, etc.
