Any of you guys been to the really bad African countries? Like Sudan, DRC, Somalia, Chad, CAR, etc? How bad is it actually? Could a white guy realistically visit there without severe risk?
>>2867857Insane risk, some of these are even fucking active warzones. You will needed to be escorted by someone armed and you will need a fixer to navigate all the corruption. Just go to the countries with established safe tourism. The armed guards will be discretely out of view, you'll have some semblance of freedom and you're far less likely to catch beaver fever on the first day. You're not going to be seeing the "real africa" being escorted everywhere by armed guards anyway.
>>2867857Never been, but afaik:>DRC is ok to visit around the capital>Somaliland is possible (even teaching jobs advertised there)Interior Congo afaik is doable, but it's just paypig city central, with bribes at every point.CAR is utterly lawless. The North of Sudan could be possible if the Egyptian crossing is opening, around Wadi Haifa and stuff. Chad not too sure.
My father has when he worked in oil and gas. He wasn't even allowed to leave the compound without an armed security detail.
Sudan was totally chill up until 2019, I remember following the blog of a cute German bikepacker girl who would camp by the roadside and hang out with. I’ll be keeping an eye on the situation there, it’s meant to have the world’s best coral reefs
>>2870789That would have been for insurance reasons. Which standards clearly do not reflect reality.
