I don't know if this thread is fitting on /trv/ but since 420chan is dead:

I'm going to visit the US in july
Last time I was there weed was still illegal, at least recreationally.
So I want to smoke legally for the first time in my life.
I'll be in Colorado (Denver), California (SF) and Nevada (LV)

But smoking outside is still illegal (I'm not complaining, stoners can be infuriating).
My AirBnBs/Hotels don't allow smoking inside/on the balcony and 420-friendly places are not my cup of tea.

>Any advice on where to smoke legally? Or at least where I wont bother anyone / wont get in trouble for it?
>Also, if any of you guys have tips on what to buy. It seems you can't buy less than 3.5gr? No place where I can buy a single gram? Are vapes any good? Wtf are resin carts?

Anyway, I just want to get a little high legally while being respectful/not bothering anyone.
>>
>>2868379
>But smoking outside is still illegal (I'm not complaining, stoners can be infuriating).
Lmao tell that to every nog ever, it's fine to smoke in public so long as you're not doing it right infront of an officer, in a kids park, or like right outside the door of a building. No one gives a fuck.
>My AirBnBs/Hotels don't allow smoking inside/on the balcony and 420-friendly places are not my cup of tea.
Because that shit's impossible to get out, just go outside away from the building boom done.

>Any advice on where to smoke legally?
Park bench, sidewalk that isn't populated heavily like the Vegas strip, bus stop, parking lot, etc. Some dispensaries have a smoking lot too.
>Or at least where I wont bother anyone / wont get in trouble for it?
No one, and I mean no one cares. Nogs CONSTANTLY smoke everywhere and have ruined vegas imo, along with a lot of other nice places. Don't give me that OH BRUDDA U CAN'T TELL MAN shit, yes we can
>It seems you can't buy less than 3.5gr?
You totally can, just use weedmaps.

The only time you'll get in trouble is if doing it near a school, hospital(debatable), church, or kids park(debatable) and for sure if you do it in a building/bar. At most the owners will tell you to leave, failing to leave the cops might be a dick if bored.

t. not a smoker outside when my sciatica flairs up. bunch of my friends use to be.
>>
>>2868398
I saw online that smoking in the street in Denver is a big no-no, compared to say California where no one gives a shit
is it true?
>>
>>2868419
It's a no-no in name only but niggers do it. Just don't do it literally downtown on the train which is what most redditors are using
>>
>>2868379
Get a cart vape for your room they produce almost no odor, the high is weird compared to smoking flower but it's still enjoyable. Smoke your dope outside. It's "illegal" but unless you're doing it somewhere crowded or near children no one is going to care. I mean you're not going to get into trouble if you smoke dope in your hotel room either but that's just being an asshole; stale weed smoke is disgusting.
>>
>>2868452
How will you describe the "weird" high?
Honestly, I smoked for 13 years and stopped 4 years ago. I'm just looking to get that "heavy" sensation in my eyes and have a strong head buzz I used to have when smoking weed, a feel retarded.
I don't want a body-only sensation with a clear head like you get with shit hash.

And wtf is resin/rosin/distilate carts lol?

But thank you for answering
>>
my advice is probably not what you want to hear but I recommend edibles and tinctures (liquid cannabis extracts dissolved in alcohol or oil, alcohol being far superior).

>and 420-friendly places are not my cup of tea.
well too bad hotels and airbnbs tend to be absurdly strict about it and they love finding a reason to charge you money

that said, if you rent a cabin in the woods and only smoke outside and not on camera, shouldn't be a problem.

>>2868462
body only buzz = indica
head only buzz = sativa

While we are here, I wish ANY countries allowed you to travel there and legally bring small personal use quantities of cannabis with you. It's illegal to bring cannabis even to countries where it is sold widely and legally, which is retarded.
>>
>>2868462
Something about vaping doesn't give you the full range of cannabinoids or some shit compared to smoking it, I think a lot of the "science" around marijuana is a bunch of horseshit but this is definitely an observable phenomenon. You don't get the body high you'd get if you smoked a bowl, instead it's a very intense head high so you've got to be a bit careful if weed makes you anxious.
>resin/rosin/distilate
This always seemed like meme shit to me -- but uh don't tell le weed conisseurs that unless you want a very, very boring lecture sourced mostly from other people's asshole -- the only difference I've noticed is that they taste a lot weedier compared to normal carts which have almost no taste. I've never noticed any real difference and they usually have the same or less THC than carts that cost half as much. I mean I'm sure there's a heckin sciencerino answer as to why they're supposedly better but in my experience it's just marketing propaganda.
>>
>>2868467
>they taste a lot weedier
fruit strains barely taste like weed sometimes you find nice lemon/orange/grape/blackberry-themed cannabis that smells and tastes a lot more like fruit than skunk

tangie is really nice
vaping doesn't really get you fully high
the body/head high dynamic varies according to the strain

kief and hash are very nice if you have money to burn
you can crumble a bit of rosin or wax on top of a bowl and its nice but like actually getting a rig to smoke concentrates seems like too much effort to me and the effects are too intense and short lived.

I highly recommend liquid tinctures in alcohol if you travel. They can be purchased from the dark web if needed.

Lol. Maybe not "in trouble" in that the DEA is going to sting you but I work at a hotel and you are 100% getting charged a $200-300 incidental. If people smell it in the halls or nearby rooms complain about it you will be asked to leave. Stoners are so noseblind its fucking insane.
>>
>>2868464
Yea I should probably try gummies once
I'm just scared because last time I did edibles (in a totally not legal country so homemade shit done by a an idiot) I got way too high and it was just unpleasant and I ended up just falling asleep.

>>2868467
Weed never made me anxious but since I stopped 4 years ago yeah I should be careful lol

>>2868475
As an ex daily smoker, yea. Stoners are 100% noseblind. I used to reek of weed 24/7 without even being aware of it lmao.

Thanks guys.
I'll probably try gummies/vape in Denver and a joint in SF, either sneakily in an empty street far away from downtown or in a legal lounge (I think they got lounges there)
>>
Might not be really applicable, but the only time I've visited Amsterdam, I smoked my gram of skunk in parks where there weren't many people around, and also on a bench in the streets as long they weren't too crowded. It's not legal to smoke outside, but I didn't have any problem, and I actually did this many times in my home country too where you can't buy any legally. Just be somewhat discreet.

As a sidenote, I don't like smoking weed abroad, everytime the high comes up, I get paranoid, realize my friends and family are far away, I'm all alone and if I mess up I'm fucked, I talk to people in English in a country I don't know, if I have to deal with cops I don't know how they will react compared to my home country, etc.
It might sound silly, but I have trouble enjoying being high abroad, I get into this thought loop and I much prefered getting drunk on oude jenever in the Netherlands than smoking weed, sampling local alcohol is always part of my trips and actually kill anxiety.
>>
>>2868467
You don't get the carbon monoxide from the smoke either, which has that wonderful spacey effect when combined with THC. Yeah, severe headaches can result from hitting a vape too much. The heavy terpene content is to blame. Low terp strains are comfiest, but many shops don't list terp content.
>>2868475
Go to a cheap smoker-friendly motel full of blacks on the outskirts of Denver. Nobody will give a shit, because the whole place reeks of weed 24/7 and your room will smell like weed when you check in. I recommend getting a bicycle or e-bike while visiting Denver. Riding the greenway trails while high is top notch. The city is heartland America, too fkn big to explore on foot. Oh, and you can pack your edibles for the train ride to the Bay Area. Most scenic train ride in America.
>>
>>2868482
Yeah, you can become paranoid and realize that social control is an illusion. Anyone you walk past can do any kind of crazy shit at any moment, and being detached from reality in your THC world, you don't feel capable of dealing with it. Ordinary behavior and glances in your direction start sketching you out. Again, get a bicycle. It's one degree of separation from unsavory characters, allowing you to go find a secluded spot to smoke up without 45 minutes of walking. Just don't start a brushfire smoking a joint over dry grass on a windy day! Colorado's springtime winds can make smoking outdoors a complete waste of weed, unless you have a one hitter.
>>
>>2868502
>realize that social control is an illusion. Anyone you walk past can do any kind of crazy shit at any moment, and being detached from reality in your THC world, you don't feel capable of dealing with it.
Yeah that's a really great way of describing it, especially in countries where weed is illegal. You see normal people all around you who speak a completely different language, seem to have completely different concerns than you, and you can't help but wonder if they find you weird, because they aren't high and probably never got high in their lives.

That said, I'm a degen so I still smoke on a joint if someone propose, for the thrill, and when that thought loop happens, I just walk for an hour while listening to music until the effects wear off a bit, then get something to eat.
I had intense panic attacks from strong weed, but I never died or ended up in the hospital because of it, it can be unpleasant but it always passes away. And one time, smoking weed abroad got me kinda laid even if I felt a bit uneasy, so whatever.

>>2868398
>sciatica
I just found out I've been suffering from sciatica. An indica is a temporary relief?
>>
>>2868529
Don't go down that rabbit hole dawg. Go to a doctor to make sure you don't have a herniated disc and if you don't then start doing yoga and learn how to sit in a chair properly, if you have a desk job get a standing desk even if they make you look like a stupid homo. Smoking pot all day everyday is not good for you long term and you're just going to be using it to mask the symptoms of the underlying problem which will inevitably make it worse.
>>
>>2868482
OP here
Amsterdam isn't really enforcing anything desu
I smoked everywhere, in crowded streets (I was young and dumb) and I only saw cops ONCE while going there 3 times (mutiple days) lol
It's not hard to smoke in Amsterdam and if you get caught, they just give you a warning.
In the US, like Colorado, it's heavy fines and possible court dates apparently
>>
>>2868574
I recommend a one-hitter pipe. Pack it up, then give it a good rip, use a paperclip to clean it out, and slip it back in your pocket. Preroll joints always burn crookedly, drop hot ash and can't be extinguished easily. However, they are great for packing a one-hitter on the go. Untwist the paper and squeeze some bud into the bowl, then twist it back up.

The chance of being fined for smoking marijuana in public in Colorado is pretty damn low. Just go somewhere natural, it's much more peaceful than smoking on a city street anyway. This is where a bicycle comes in handy. Ride up the Platte River or Cherry Creek greenway a mile or two, then pull off the path and have yourself a toke. Toss a Bluetooth speaker in the bike basket and play your favorite tunes as you pedal the miles away in a dreamy haze. Don't forget to bring plenty of water.
>>
>>2868379
It's quite annoying. The only way to be COMPLETELY legal is to own the property that you smoke on.

In practice, nobody is going to bother you for smoking behind a building or somewhere there aren't a lot of people.

t. Colorado

If you really really want to be respectful, just use edibles man. No smoke and they kick like a fucker as long as you're fine with waiting like 4 hours for the comeup (drinking a bit of liquor will make it hit more thoroughly)
>>
If you're doing weed tourism from EU understand the potency you get in the USA is night and day. I remember being with my friends in Netherlands going to some "really good places" which I don't doubt was good for them living there. When they tried US shit finally they got completely knocked on their ass with the "stuff they do all the time".

Maybe I have different weed. For me it was never a painkiller it always enhanced and made me feel pain I did not felt sober. Usually my back does not hurt but when high it gets very uncomfortable. No teeth pain sober but when really high teeth pain gets weird intense, etc
>>
>>2869029
Indica is good if you're trying to have your body relax on something like a memory foam mattress that helps combat it. For me, taking an edible then feeling relaxed enough on my bed to help my sciatic nerve stop being pinched is worth it.

>>2868550
Sciatica can be caused by a lot of things, sometimes it's not worth a surgery like it is in my case. For me as long as I keep walking daily it's enough to keep a flair up gone. However, sometimes specifically in winter, I'll have times where I am stuck at my desk for 8hrs at a time for a week and run into an issue after a week.
>>
>>2869029
>it always enhanced and made me feel pain I did not felt sober
I get that too, it always makes me more acutely aware of an ache or two I might have
>>
Just use edibles, inhaling is a barbaric practice from the prohibition era. Edibles let you control the dose better, and they don't fuck up your lungs.
>>
>>2869023
(OP here)
Oh yeah I know lol
had the chance to try US weed a few times.
But thanks for the heads up!

>>2869020
As long as I get a high similar to when I used to smoke, I'm good with edibles if I can't find a place alone to smoke without bothering anyone :)

>>2869720
>inhaling is a barbaric practice from the prohibition era
Well, I myself am a barbarian from the prohibition era. Hell, I'm even STILL UNDER prohibition :(
I know it's bad for my lungs but eh, I smoked illegal shit-weed for 15 years everyday full of pesticides and stuff, smoking once or twice in the US can't hurt me significantly more. But I get you.
What edible dose do you guys recommend for an ex daily smoker (EU weed is around 12-20% THC with low levels of CBD) who hasn't smoked in 4/5 years?
>>
>>2869722
Tinctures were a big deal when most edibles were lipid based and everyone was coming from legacy techniques like cannabutter, which takes ages to kick in, but just about everything these days that isn't explicitly oil based is going to kick in fast (hour or less), including gummies. Tinctures are actually a little bit harder to dose accurately because they use asinine metrics like "drops" or "droppers" but they do have the convenience of being able to put in other things, which I guess some people think is important.

>>2869748
I'd start with 5mg THC, I prefer the formulations that include some CBD. Some people can eat 50mg and barely feel a thing, some people feel it at 1mg, it really depends on your body chemistry. Like the other guy said, fuck up a dose and you're in for a long ride, so take it easy.
>>
>>2869758
Correction: kick in fast, on a reasonably empty stomach. Obviously, eating a 25mg dose after a 3 course meal and a bottle of wine and then 30 minutes later going "huh I don't feel it" and popping 2 more 25mg is asking for trouble.
>>
>>2869759
Right, I get that you love tinctures and I've got nothing against them in the abstract but the perceived advantages over gummies is antiquated bro science, plus gummies are just a little bit more discreet, you can (I'm not saying you *should*) go through TSA with gummies and a lot of people do, and nobody is going to give you shit as long as you don't have them in a bright colored bag that says ILLEGAL MARIHUANA GUMMIES, you can't spill gummies, you can't break the bottle because you put it in your overloaded carry on bag and dropped it on the ground, it won't leak everywhere because you drove up Pikes Peak and forgot to twist it extra hard to seal it from the altitude.

Between 5mg and 10mg I think it's no big deal but remember this guy is doing it in an unfamiliar environment and is going to be unaccustomed to the mechanics, so I'd err on the side of caution but hey it's not my vacation.
>>
>>2869762
I just cut up the 10mg gummies into 4x2.5mg cubes, seems pretty simple compared to calculating how many "droppers" per container and then dividing the number of mg on the bottle with the number of "droppers" and then trying to subdivide that by the number of drops per "dropper", especially since the number of drops varies by temperature and altitude.
>>
>>2869768
I understand how droppers work because I used commercial tinctures in the past, it was my baby step into commercial product after doing coconut oil bain marie extractions. Eventually I got into DIY using freezer-temperature grain alcohol at home, and when I went too far down that rabbit hole I bought a pack of gummies as a joke mostly, and realized immediately that this was the way to go.

Of course, this is all splitting hairs, and I'm being a bit of a drama queen about the difficulty, I just look back on those times fucking around with ridiculous magician alchemy glassware as a phase that I'm glad I outgrew. Probably, it doesn't have the same baggage for you, which is why you don't mind it.
>>
>>2869750
>>2869758

Okay, thanks!
Will probably try 5mg and wait before taking another 5mg ;)
>>
>>2868419
Born and raised in Denver; you can do it pretty much anywhere except downtown. Also you are able to purchase by the gram, you can also buy pre rolled joints and such in case you don't know how to roll.
>>
>>2868986
They burn crookedly, drop hot ash, and waste so much weed.
>>2869023
This is true. Colorado weed is extremely potent. First time I smoked in Denver after coming back from abroad it was overwhelming, and that was only a little bit, like 0.1 grams on a Coke can.
>>
>>2869759
10 mg hits me hard the first time, but edible tolerance builds so fast if you keep eating them. On a 30 hour train ride I must've eaten about 200 mg of edibles, it made time simply disappear in this dreamlike state of drifting across the scenic American landscape.
>>
It's been years since I've smoked but if I was gonna do it again, I would absolutely bring it to a national park and do it. Rotting inside your hotel, airbnb, or your local homeless person gathering spot sounds miserable, unless it was a huge park, like central park or boston common. The thing about weed is that makes average shit seem profound, so if you sit around and just listen to music or watch TV you will feel retarded the next day, but if you actually know shit about geology or american history, a national park actually IS profound. Much better time spent IMO.
>>
>>2868379
No one is really going to care if you smoke on the balcony of your AirBnB. Just make sure there aren't any cameras the owner set up to catch you, but even if they are, all they can do is kick you out and bitch to the company.

>>2868452
>Get a cart vape for your room they produce almost no odor, the high is weird
Bad idea, the chinks who make the liquid use some sort of oil-based thing that can cause serious lung damage.

>Legal recreational marijuana tourism
>Ctrl+F Germany
>Phrase not found
technically selling is not legal
but you can still buy high quality stuff everywhere and there's no punishment for buying
owning and smoking in public is fully legal & accepted

since legalization quality changed for the better
because many people nowadays want to get rid of their legally grown surplus

the guy near my house went from having one shitty variety
to offering like 20 strains with different THC / CBT content
stuff with mixed in artificial cannabinoids, fent or other bs is basically unheard of now, again because there's so much genuine surplus from (semi) private growers

The weed pens (aka carts) that give you the "weird" high are because a lot of them don't have the full spectrum of cannabinoids they only have THC and (sometimes) CBD in them.

If you don't smoke very often you might not be able to tell the difference desu. But when I was smoking a lot I could definitely tell. If you get a cart that says "full spectrum" (and a lot of rosin/resin I think are full spectrum by default) then it will pretty much be identical to actually smoking weed but with the added benefit of not being too smelly.

Distillate are the ones where they DON'T have the full spectrum iirc. In general if you get some weed cart that is flavored most of those don't have the full spectrum.

If you're in a hotel/airbnb you can definitely vape a cart because with a cart you're taking 1, maybe 2 puffs, 3 max and you're done vs smoking a joint which burns continuously and emits smoke vs vapor.

I would strongly suggest AGAINST using edibles/tinctures/creams or any other non smoke/vape method. It's way too easy to overdo it and noobs get oneshotted by edibles all the time because they think it's less intense because you're not inhaling anything. Edibles are actually more intense usually.
>>
>>2872926
tinctures are great you can take it almost anywhere you just have to figure out roughly how much liquid in the dropper is a low vs high dose its more like a quarter filled dropper for me is a low dose and 2/3 full is a high dose and 1 1/3 dropper is like an extreme dose if I want to watch a long movie or do a hard hike or something.

You just have to start slow with tincture and be patient with the effects.
