Getting stationed in germany for a couple years, any recommendations on places to visit/ tips on learning german?
>>2870201Berlin if you like nightlife, Soviet history, and overall grungy punk vibes Bavaria if you like traditional European vibes and nature. Rest of Germany is boring
>>2870201>tfw not American and can't larp as Elvis Presley getting stationed in GermanyBerlin is as good as it gets for nightlife. Really good. And great food there, very international. You can find historic sights almost everywhere so really depends on what you are interested in. It's not too difficult to get around. Everything is connected by trains even though they aren't reliable at all. I personally only go around by my car and that's very convenient. Roads are good, Germans are very good drivers. You can go to the popular sights first to put a checkmark and then explore more rural places. For me the best thing in summer is to take my bicycle and just follow my nose to wherever. Small bavarian villages can be really qt with many buildings being older than the USA. Local Volksfeste offer great beer, good food and people in good moods. And lots of your pic related. Don't skip the Oktoberfest even if it's very touristy. Definitelly a nice experience. Metal festivals are amazing too. Germany is a bit autistic in terms of socialicing similar to Japan. Approaching strangers and starting a smalltalk might work but I think it's rare. But once you join some sort of club/sport/etc it's really easy. Or the Volksfeste where everyone is kinda drunk anyway.
