I don't get the appeal of going to some run down looking third world country. Is it just me?
>>2870275The appeal isn't the country, it's the sex
>>2870276So if I'm not a loser there's no point?
I didn't get the appeal until I went to one.It depends on the country, but it's kind of nice feeling like a celebrity just by existing. People are friendly, there's always some guy with too much time on his hands who's willing to be a personal servant and help you with whatever you need at that moment, you can experiment with new foods and new experiences without blowing shitloads of cash and regretting it, and it's all just generally fun. None of it looks good in pictures. But it feels nice to be in. It's the opposite of a tourist trap.
>>2870280>but it's kind of nice feeling like a celebrity just by existing.Delusional
>>2870277It depends on the country. You never mentioned one.I'm assuming by your pic you mean Vietnam? Well normie tourists go there all the time, at least to the big cities and other tourist places, so it must be.But if you're talking about shitty rural small towns, well they're not worth it any country for any reason.
>>2870275>no rubbish or dirt>flawless pavement>drain tiles all in place>modern street lighting>well-kept business establishments>magic money machine on the corner>even a fucking zebra crossingAnon, if you think a little graffiti and sidewalk activity makes this modern Asian street "rundown", you'd also be panning NYC as a smelly dump and Paris as a shithole. Singapore would be more your thing...or an elite mountain/coastal resort town in America or Europe.
>>2870275Once you're actually there you understand. Maybe that's just not your thing though but I fucking love it.If you need your vacation to be fun, easy and full of good times just go to a theme park, drink alcohol or take ecstasy if that helps and do the rides. Nothing wrong with that.Thing is many people including me have traveled for years so you need a change, go deeper outside of your comfort zone, see new things with your own eyes. That's why I'm currently in India and feeling like a happy kid again. 3rd world gives you a sense of adventure just being there.
>>2870310>you want your vacations to be fun? go fuck yourself
>>2870322I literally said there's nothing wrong with going to Disney and drink beers.I take my girls to spa resorts in the swiss Alps and enjoy it, but finally finding a decent place to sleep after a day in the sun, dust, crowds and the feet full of shit is way better for my mental health in the long term.
>>2870275It's just a few retards who get a boner for being able to check into a hostel and then brag to girls 20 years younger that they've been to XYZ obscure shithole. Only to get promptly ignored, before coming back to shitpost here. The only proper way of travelling to real shit holes is being part of a military invasion.>wah wah I've grown bored of travelling to nice places Get a new hobby or settle down you bum. It's like saying I'm tired of camping in these beautiful outdoors locations, time to pitch up in the worlds biggest garbage pile in Indonesia!
>>2870310This. Going to a third world country kind of feels like being a kid again. Everything is strange and new and it takes some figuring out to get anything done. Any tourist can show up to Tokyo or London and end up visiting any place they want even hours away from town and basically get there without a single thought passing through their head. In undeveloped countries, you need to constantly be looking around, thinking about how to get to where you want, planning for when things inevitably go wrong, and you can be the only foreigner around for miles sometimes. And instead of just being an NPC and following some "TOP 5 GREATEST THINGS IN PARIS. (NUMBER 4 WILL SHOCK YOU)" list, you're going in somewhat blind. There's little to no English info a lot of times so you legitimately have no idea what'll happen each and every day.I imagine 1800s explorers felt the same excitement. It's like starting up a new RPG for the first time. Every day is some new series of quests.
>>2870283>>2870326>you can't enjoy eating bread and cheese because gourmet restaurants with world class chefs exist>going to your local gig joint seeing a band from here is garbage for hispters only Drake and Taylor Swift are worth seeing>fucking poser nerd playing a low budget indie game like Balatro instead of GTA and Fifa 2026 so he can impress girlsIt's weird that for all hobbies people encourage just doing what you like and find your niche, but if you travel to some place that's completely different than what you're used to and enjoy it you just want to impress roasties or something.Maybe some Real Travelers pissed you off and I can understand it, but huge majority of us just chill and do our thing.Again I've been to the most touristic places on earth, Eiffel Tower, Shibuya crossing, Rome's coliseum and also enjoyed it. Just let me go to a 100 pop village, find a room, explore the surroundings and move on.If anything I like the attention from the locals who are SHOCKED to see a white dude I'll admit.
>>2870336I guess growing up in DC, Rome was kinda boring to me cuz its basically "wow look at all the old timey stone" and DC is basically meant to copy that look as much as possible and apart from that it just wasn't that interesting and unsafe and dirty and super crowded and this was 20 years ago.
>>2870336>dude....exploreExplore what? There's nothing there? You want to see an empty field with a shack? You can find that anywhere. But there's only one Sistine Chapel.
>>2870275You already know it’s teen pussy
>>2870275I only go to 3rd world countries if theres anything worthwhile culturewise/naturewise. Some of those countries have best nature that you can enjoy without the herd of 10000 obese americans/chinkman. The same goes for monuments.Theres also an itch for expiriencing "hardship" for some people that those destination sate. When I was teenager and in my 20, I liked to travel to undeveloped countries just to taste the atmosphere, now im kindda over it. I can still travel there, if it fits me, but im not found of backpacker life on a longer basis.
>>2870373At this point dude is just traveling so he can "flex" on 4chan and post his photos and espouse the virtues of being a smelly bum in every single thread. Best to just ignore him
>>2870282You think any Parisian cares what you, the casual visitor, thinks of their city? Of course not. But Indians are always eager to hear my opinions on their country, culture, cuisine, etc. It does feel good to be honored as a guest instead of disdained.>>2870326Why would anyone talk at length about a country he is not currently traveling in? That's larper behavior.>imprison yourself, goy!No thanks. Four months a year in one place is more than enough settling down. Always so glad to pack my bags and wander freely again. And I get the fuck out of America to escape the company of you wealthy, elitist, snidely prejudiced white philosemites (i.e. your typical Middle America golfer) who sneer at tradition and simplicity. >check into a hostel, babby's first time abroad>"woah mygod a female is also staying here and she talked to me, is hostel sexo about to happen like they always mention on the 4chan?"Not a single experienced traveler does this shit.
>>2870373I saw the Sistine Chapel after seeing dozens of other cathedrals throughout Europe. I hate that I saw it after seeing so much of Europe, because all I could think was "huh, it's kind of neat. Looks like other places I saw yesterday." And I walked out after 5 minutes. I'm not saying it to brag. I really wanted to enjoy it more, but I noticed basically everyone was the same. After being marched all around the Vatican museums, seeing a bunch of similar stuff, you simply get burnt out on it and cease to be impressed. It's like trying to maintain a high after you've been addicted for years. If you're looking at similar things, the bar for what impresses you keeps rising forever. The only real solution is to go out and see new things entirely.I've known people older than me who would always say>Don't waste your time in towns and cities when you travel. You'll get burnt out on it forever. Spend more time in natureAnd they were right. As I'm approaching middle age, even the most spectacular cities and grand monuments kind of blend together. Europe is nice but it's all a mass of similar things. But being surrounded by men riding carts being pulled by donkeys, seeing piles of shit in the street, finding a good sweets shop tucked away in some alley with desserts full of flavors I'd never even imagined, then seeing some colossal Indian fort that dwarfs the size of any and every castle in Europe, I got the appeal of shitholes pretty fast. They break up the everyday routine. But even then, I can't do the same thing every day. Indian forts also start to get boring after a while. But you can patrol random indian villages and hear languages you've never heard before, see religious practices that are bizarre and inconceivable, try a meal using some sort of vegetable that looks absolutely alien. It's all new, all the time.Shitholes are weird. When we were kids, we liked weird shit. Third world countries reactivate that part of our brains
>>2870402the sistine chapel sucked, and was a huge letdown after the rest of art in the vatican which was imho the best part of rome, other than the ridiculous censorship of nudity vatican was room after room of gorgeous art, then you do sistine at the end and its like some ceiling paintings, its ok just didn't grab me also as a gay going to places basically created to shut me out for being gay is uncomfortable and I avoid anything religious for the most part now
>>2870373Peak NPC brain. The whole world is a big empty space in your mind, apart from the places you've seen in an IG reel or Tiktok clip. Fuck that. I'm not a passive consoomer of sights that are pushed on me by trending algorithms. I'm an active explorer who seeks out what is tucked away, and finds a lot of satisfaction in the process.>>2870396>WTF, this dude who posts on trv is actually traveling? That's ridiculous!Larper seethe makes me chuckle. Your jealousy shows through so clearly.
>>2870404Seeing shit like this reminds me of what it was like to be a kid. You see pictures and you can't yet read what it says. So your mind just runs wild and invents the most interesting story possible, and it's always more interesting than the reality. People who can't enjoy that simply have no imagination.
>>2870336I've travelled all of my 20s and I'd rather visit Paris for the n-th time than some dusty shithole village in India. If I'm that bored I'm signing up for pottery class or whatever shit available close by. I don't care for attention from 3rd worlders I'm a good looking Euro, whatever attention I get from nice good looking girls is infinitely more rewarding than some dalit looking at you in disbelief because he has never seen anyone white in his NPC generic village #23345.>>2870373Based and correct.>>2870376If that's a teen I'm an astronaut. >>2870401You see it all the time IRL with desperate nerds like yourself. I'd rather make bank in USA until I figure out my shit rather than feel lost in Asia or whoever you go to.
>>2870337>comparing any American city with RomeI pity you
>>2870402The inexplicable is so appealing, and India is full of sights and behaviors which boggle the western mind. You have no fucken idea why that guy is kissing the pavement every five steps, or why this weird women is walking from shop to shop with an idol on top of her head, rubbing a drum head to make a loud vibrating sound. You can only experience it for what it is, something novel and fascinating. Everywhere you turn, there is something to look at...and someone looking right back at you with a degree of puzzlement and wonder in their eyes as well. Indians also enjoy seeing strange and inexplicable foreigners.
If you have to ask this question, you wouldn't get it anyway.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UWVbLliscys
>>2870408white marble columns and domes all kinda blurits a very boring stylei want a whole city set up in queen anne style with some italian neo futurism thrown ini like design details, bold colors
>>2870404I'm not jealous of how you waste your time trying to convince everyone that you're doing something unique and special. Traveling on a shoestring budget is fine but do you have to shoehorn your opinions and photos into every single thread? No. You just have a sense of grandiosity that makes you believe people need to see your photos of dusty backwaters and your opinions on how everyone else is stupid goycattle. You are a tripfag in all but name and no one likes tripfags
>>2870407Indian villages are full of unique and weird characters who all respond to you in their own way. Indians are the ultimate anti NPC humanoids. Just look at the traffic on local streets, every single person drives (and walks) differently from the others. >all I care about is getting rich and chasing endless dopamine highs with hoesAnd you call others an NPC. Holy kek, you literally couldn't be more of a mindlessly generic normie midwit. You're on track to lose your mental balance in middle age when such pleasures dry up, or else become hooked on drink/drugs.
>>2870413Bro thinks he is an explorer working for the crown of Castille and colonising new lands while buying a plane ticket and staying in a hotel room with ACYou also play Victoria and make epic grossgermaniums too?
>>2870416I grew up in a small shithole village I've seen my share of "characters" enough for a life time. If you're looking for eccentrics any large European city is full of them, just hit the local train station and talk to the first crack head you see.No it is not all that I care about but if I'm so bored in life I'm doing all this pointless shit I might as well waste my time making money and getting laid. At least by the end of it I'll have something to show for it beyond having walls of posts on 4chan littered with buzzwords.
>>2870415There are at least two anons ITT currently traveling in India btw. There should be 20 of us all blitzing the board with stories and pics. Make trv based again.
>>2870419But you're the one who is slamming, correct? You really need to take up a hobby or something that you can do while traveling, you clearly have too much free time
>>2870404>ooooh a funny sign xDddd
>>2870275Short answer: brown pussyLong answer: if you're from the west it is very interesting and worthwhile to do a few of these so you can break your bubble and get a better idea of the default state of humanity. an no I dont just mean "people are le poor" but see what matters to them and what they have as norms, what they do or do not trip over etc and compare it to the nonsense normie worldview common in your own cunt. but after awhile they're kind of all the same so personally I lost interest but I would never bash someone who had a genuine interest in more extensive or repeated travels in these types of places
>>2870423The true answer: inceldom Every white incel can ascend by going to 3rd world shitholes. If they're still young ish, not that ugly and still have hair they might even have sex for free with some 3/10 4'9" Asian goblina. If not they're paypigs.
>>2870418One difference is a crackhead in a European or American city will stab you and people will stand around and watch as you die. In a lot of truly poor countries, if someone tries to give a white boy a bad time, locals charge in to push him away.A white person can confidently walk through the darkest most rundown streets of the poorest slums in Asia, and so long as he walks with a smile and greets everyone he meets, he'll always have someone tagging along to escort him and make sure nothing bad happens. Try that in a western slum and people will tag around to steal your phone then kill you. From personal experience, I went to a slum in Mumbai. Chilled with a man who probably makes less in a year than I make in 2 hours. I had no fear that he would rob me or do me any harm. I had been studying up on religious leaders in India and recognized that he had a picture of some guru behind him, Sai Baba. When I mentioned the name, the man's eyes lit up. Even though I was some weird foreigner, I took the time to learn about something that was a foundation in his life. He brought his friends over and they gave me a cup of hot chai while we all chatted about everything. They refused to take any payment, but I made sure to give them all little wads of cash so they could get a nice dinner for the night. That wouldn't happen in a slum in my home country. I wouldn't dare risk it. And I didn't even imagine it would've happened that morning when I walked out from my hotel. I just ended up at a slum, met people with backgrounds beyond anything I ever knew before, and made some good memories. While all those cathedrals in Europe blend together and I couldn't tell you which is which if I look back at my photos.
Normal people:Someplace exotic but not so exotic and poor its a shithole, nice beaches, good nature and food, no hassle, some Becky with big tits for companyAutistic inkwells: ITTGeez what would I pick...
>>2870418Eccentric and deranged are very different states of mind. I like to stare at people while they stare back at me for a second or two. >>2870426You: getting syphilis and HPVMe: eating a fat ass thali with 15 different curries and chatting with 5 foot tall bald brown men
>>2870425Not really I've spoken to all kinds of street people when drunk. They're schizo but rarely violent. It's rare anything happens, Europe is incredibly safe unless you're reading shit on places like /pol/ where it seems like it is a war zone lol.Go to some actual dangerous shithole like Phillipines (bad areas) or anywhere in South America and you'll not be posting here again. India is safe for men because most crime is non violent. The only "slums" in Ireland are council housing with white trash, you'll be alright as long as youre not some fruitcake and look decently imposing. Otherwise some 12 year olds on scooters might harass you lmao.
>>2870427I don't really get all that bored anywhere where I'm at. I think a lot of you do go to these shitholes because you're definitely running from some kind of mental issues, hence the need for extremes.>>2870428You're not getting STDs from random white tourists lmao. More likely to happen if you fuck local women in shit holes who are also prostitutes 80% of the time.
>>2870430>white women not having STDsLoving every laugh. I'm still eating a thali. You're not. Case closed.
>>2870431If you don't post a photo about it, then didn't really happen?
>>2870431Indian food is alright but its something ill have once or twice a year.STDs are rare in Europe unless youre fucking literal crackheads. Middle class girls on holidays in Thailand dont have anything jfl. I cant say the same for the prozzies that everyone on this board seems to love.
>>2870275There's cheap pussy in them thar hills
>>2870417I am white. The desire to explore is in my blood.Exploring is not just visiting X place and looking at all the sights, it's more about experiencing a different culture with its different customs and habits. The most fascinating thing about a place is how the average local lives their day-to-day life. Luckily, the easiest way to experience this is by integrating into the local population (webm related)
The saddest part about this place is how little enjoyment there is of genuine traveling or seeing new places or experiences it is almost entirely about fetishizing brown women as easier to obtain and more readily willing to have sex than white women. And really it just reflects a culture where low status white men are shut out of breeding and dating in the West and have to settle for brown subhumans or nothing. Mongoloids have flat faces and I would never travel to their countries. There's no way you could totally put out of your mind that those people didn't fully evolve and would never create a first world country without just coping white people tech.
What you don't understand is that a lot of us travel because we are seeking catharsis. You're more likely to find it in a beat down hotel room in Cambodia, surrounded by a local population that doesn't care about you except for a second to look up at the anomaly, and a handful of the same foreigners that you only see sporadically and don't talk to, but you know there's something off about them. God, I miss it
>>2870533You described anyone that I met in Cambodia who wasn't a 24 year old very well. It's a strange place. A dark place. There is something off about the entire country and it isn't just the poverty.

>>2870275I just want to explore and see that shit with my own eyes. I find it fascinating how everything is similar but so different at the same time no matter where you go.Feels weird reading this thread full of people accusing me to be a mentally ill incel, a faker who wants to impress girls, broke, having to much money and time, no personality, no hobbies etc.Not sure where that hate comes from.
>>2870570It's an old rivalry between those who have 2 weeks a year to travel but 5k to blow and spend a good safe time, and those who can travel for months or years regularly but need to keep a tight budget. Then it got polarized into "reddit normie tourist" vs "autistic begpacker Real Traveler".I don't doubt India slum bro enjoys his trip and is living the dream, but he also complains about spending 1$ too much on a hotel room. If he had infinite budget he certainly would be in Switzerland or Denmark right now.I also think that even the most boring normie would start to go in the 3rd world after a year of travelling non stop and kinda enjoy it.
>>2870275I work online.I can save more money and have a higher quality of life in developing shitholes. I have my limits about how far I'm willing to go, but a place Phnom Penh or Bogotá is absolutely doable
>>2870572I've been to both Switzerland and India and enjoyed them both equally. Switzerland has better and cleaner nature that's easily accessible, but the food is bland and good god are the people absolutely frigid assholes. India has food that doesn't bore me and people are jolly and friendly. And personally, I find Indian towns more exciting than Swiss ones. Swiss towns are comfy to look at but they feel like glorified soulless suburbs when you get beyond the appearances. Indian towns feel lived in and have stuff happening. Plus Switzerland is full of clueless tourists everywhere due to its easy accessibility. It can feel like being on a cruise ship at times. India filters out that vast majority of clueless travelers.
>>2870564r u fagcented?
>>2870572There's no rivalry people who go on holidays never meet people slumming it out in some random hostel in Sarajevo in middle of the winter, they dont even remotely exist in the same places. Long term travel sounds fun but almost everytime I meet these long guys IRL they do fuck all in their destination and hang around the hostel nearly all the time. They're arse tight with money so museums etc. are all too expensive for many of them. Somehow half of them have no issue spending it on fags and drink. Unironically the long term travellers who I meet and actually do active travelling are women. I've never seen a woman meandering about a hostel for weeks at a time "travelling". It must be some kind of a mental illness. It sounds cool on paper but in reality its just semi homelessness in the way I've seen it done 90% of the time.
>>2870538> You described anyone that I met in Cambodia who wasn't a 24 year old very well. It's a strange place. A dark place. There is something off about the entire country and it isn't just the poverty.Yeah, this. About 20 years ago, I spent a few years traveling and working around Asia and stayed & worked in Phnom Penh for around 4 months. A totally fucked up society on a deep and profound level, and unlike virtually everywhere else in Asia, I felt like the people there were just living on a different plane of existence. Along with seriously degenerate westerners. Couldn’t wait to get out of there. The Haiti of Asia.
>>2870404Despite what you have to say, South Asian squalor has no inherent value.
>>2870592Yeah most of the foreigners, especially old dudes, had something seedy about them. You know something is off when Thailand is just across the border and they're there.
>>2870597But the hustle and bustle of New Delhi :oooI just realised how similar these "RealTravellers" are to ageing Millennial reddit types who overhype street food or anything to do with cities, making it seem like there's some treasure trove of culture, when its just shit.
>>2870591>no rivalry >whole post is just shitting on people who travel a way you don't like using extreme exemplesOf course you only see the dudes in big cities' hostels, not the ones who are in the middle of nowhere doing their shit and who'll spend months without seeing another westerner.Or just look at posts like >>2870607 , literally a stereotype of dismissing someone because he's enjoying stuff.Again I understand that some people are being obnoxious and elitists about traveling, but that doesn't mean others are genuinely enjoying 3rd world shit holes.
>>2870609*aren't genuinely enjoying 3rd world shit holes
The answer is always cheap sex and booze.
>>2870607You'll be the same if you're still traveling when you're older. I used to think people who traveled around Southeast Asia and shitholes were just retarded boomers and nobody would actually like it. Any smart person would prefer Japan or Paris. Now that I'm far out of my 20s and I've seen all the typical first world places, I've realized that all I want to do now is relax in some dump that's warm all year and is cheap enough that I can do whatever I want, whenever I want, and never, ever need to look at my bank account.Plus now Europe is full of stupid shit like needing to book reservations for basic ass museums in advance, then waiting in a line to get in, then having to deal with crowds of instathots and fat fucks everywhere. In the third world, that doesn't happen. Nothing requires reservations. There's always someone who knows somebody who has a cousin who runs the place. They can get you anywhere you want, any day of the week, any time of day. And there's never a line. The only thing I needed to reserve in the entirety of India was the Taj Mahal. And even with that, I just walked up, scanned my bag, and walked in within 5 minutes. Completely different from Italy where I had to present a QR code and rectal scan for any slightly popular historical place, then wait an hour until it was my turn to get in.
>>2870609You're on an obscure shithole dying website on a board with barely 20 people posting on it, either your brainrotten from being online nonstop or dumb if you think anyone IRL cares.Personally like I said before I've noticed people who travel long term indefinitely usually have something wrong with them and they dont seem to be enjoying it. Unironically some dumb college girl on her 2 week trip to Thailand gets more out of it than the average aspie spending weeks and weeks in obscure shitholes while mulling over increasing their daily budget by 1 euro just to afford a decent hostel. The only people I've met who seemed to enjoy long term travel are>women >couples>rare well adjusted dude who always has concrete plans; these types rarely actually go to shitholes, they'll just spend six months between jobs or whatever situation they're in; you won't find anyone like that here
>>2870616I'm in my 20s and I'm literally travelling to SEA soon lol and I've there once. How is Thailand and Vietnam shitholes? They're well developed for tourism. When I speak about shit holes I mean straying so far off the beaten path youre in very poor provincial towns or countries like India which are not easy to travel at all.I dont mind other tourists especially not the "instathoths" imho being around normies is far more pleasant than spending even 5 mins with anyone who browse this site. At least they're positive and won't constantly complain about the stupidest shit.I guess if you go to the most popular shit in Europe it will be busy especially in summer but there's lot more to see beyond that. There's always something happening and its great for a night out. Can take a train out and do hiking because the nature is well taken care of and there isn't heaps of shit everywhere. People understand hiking whereas 3rd worlders really struggle with the concept.
>>2870617>>2870612Meant 4 uI'll also mention that travelling in low season is great if you want less tourists in Europe the only downside is that the weather is shit. Its grey and rainy in most of the continent.
>>2870617When I was in Thailand, I noticed that outside of certain parts of Bangkok, it's quite run down and backwards. I also noticed that outside of the very core parts of Bangkok, I pretty much never saw foreigners at all. Especially not white foreigners. In Ayutthaya, I saw no other white people during my whole time there. Just some Chinese grandmas who wanted pictures with me. Even in Bangkok, I almost never saw whites at museums or major temples, but I saw shitloads of them flowing out into the streets whenever I passed a bar.I think Vietnam takes this to a higher extreme. Get outside the downtown cores and you simply will not see white people. I went into rural Vietnam for some work trips and was impressed with it. People were living in homes that were 3 concrete slabs for walls, a concrete slab for a ceiling, with a dirt floor and a curtain for a door. That was my first experience with a shithole country and kind of blew my mind. There were hot women living in this town, dressed up nicely, working at the local factories, walking around with smartphones, living what would generally be considered modern lives. But at home, they lived with a dirt floor and in a windowless concrete box that didn't even have a door.
>>2870570The issue we are facing is that travel noobs lack the skills needed to live an enjoyable life in non-touristic destinations, and they emphatically insist (as only the ignorant can insist) that everyone who goes to these places must be having an experience as awful as theirs. It's a cope.>How can you be enjoying travel in [Third World country]? It's not possible! Something obviously must be wrong with you.Level up, faggots. Then we can talk.>>2870591I've noticed this too. Single male travelers are lazy as shit and rarely go to places where they feel like they don't have a chance of getting laid. They increasingly travel overseas for comfort and leisure; they are picky and querulous and easily annoyed. Some of them LARP as Mr. John Conquest online, but IRL with their alcoholic hangdog faces wilting under the fierce sun on the rare occasions they venture outside in midday, they sure don't look like they're "living like a king". Women are more willing to wander around the map just to see places. The hagpackers with their sun-spotted skin are the most geographically adventurous, but they don't go where they feel unsafe or out of their depth, which is most of the world. >>2870597And you think your delusion of superiority is a "value". It's a good thing your kind self-exclude from this part of the world.

The materialism mind-virus has infected Asia to such an extent that Third World countries are demonstrably more materialist than the USA at this point. However, they still retain strong family bonds, cultural heritage and other aspects of traditional life that Americans have thrown away in their pursuit of suburban commuter prosperity. >no white people in AyutthayaThat's awfully strange. Did the mean rabid street dogs chase them all away or what? There were lots of whites bicycling around the historical park when I visited.
You make it too complicated, from a European point of view 90% of why someone like me would visit a "shit hole" is just because of the weather, 5% because of cheap prices, 5% because I want to see exotic shit. If continental Europe would have perfect weather year round, we'd be like Americans and rarely leave the continent.

>>2870626Well it's like going to a random commuter town near Berlin and seeing 90% Germans and some immigrants. These places aren't exactly interesting to visit, so what's your point?
>>2870630>I've noticed this too. Single male travelers are lazy as shit and rarely go to places where they feel like they don't have a chance of getting laid. They increasingly travel overseas for comfort and leisure; they are picky and querulous and easily annoyed. Some of them LARP as Mr. John Conquest online, but IRL with their alcoholic hangdog faces wilting under the fierce sun on the rare occasions they venture outside in midday, they sure don't look like they're "living like a king".You summed up this board very well
